I think it is less an Issue to have the Forge at Day 1. I think the bigger issue is that you have access to Iron Tools/Weapons with Quality 3 (which can have up to 2 mod slots and have higer Durability then the Quality 1 Tools) due to buying Int Stat. If you would shift the Quality of the Crafted Goods to another or new perk it would give it a bit more meaning since you have to spend points into it aswell. But that is just my opinion.
Yeah that's a good point. You don't start with low-quality iron tools. You start with decent-to-good quality iron tools after you craft your forge on day 1. That makes it even easier.

 
is it just me or did they significantly reduce XP gain from mining Stone and Chopping Wood, punching grass??

Upgrading blocks grants a third of the XP it used to give. wood frame to blocks gives 4xp instead of 12..

Sleeper zombies don't make ANY sound now after awakening even when outside, only jumping or falling sound.

U guys were supposed to add more xp gain to all activities not linked to killing zombies, not take whatever little was in there away from us.

I like players who test the game 5 minutes and rush to the forum to express their dissatisfaction with this or that modification. So human.

And I like humans. Well cooked.

 
and I thought you would make A17 harder than A16, big mistake.
It's pretty disapointing be back to day 1 forge
how does forge on day 1 make the game easier? you can craft only iron tools ( which you can find anyway )

 
Found an issue that if you eat or drink while on the bicycle, it will delete the item as if it were used but will not give you the benefits from using said items. Your water will not replenish nor will your hunger decrease.
i already reported this in b119 or whatever and it ticks me off that i didn't see that in the known issues list

 
Well, my FPS indoors increased by about 20fps... It's about the same as outdoors now. (between 50 and 70)

Curious if DaVega will finally get > 30 FPS :D

 
I hadn't experienced food poisoning in A17 before. Is it normal that hunger fluctuates rapidly between high and low, and you get the starving debuff with a countdown that keeps resetting every few seconds?

Also there's no food poisoning icon?

 
Edit . New grass texture or did'nt I notice it in the previous version ^^ ?
Must be new - I didn't notice it before either and it was pretty obvious - first thing I noticed. Everything in the forest looks a bit more colorful and vibrant. I kinda like it... It kind of reminds me of Oblivion's forest palette. With the new trees and now this- the forest biome looks better than it ever has. (in my opinion)

But at what opportunity cost? I have other things to advance that are more important to me than a Day 1 forge. Just because you can spend all your initial points for Day 1 forge doesn't mean that's the only way to play it.
Its sad Roland, honestly. We just spend 3 of our points, we get 4 for free.

At least you guys could consider remove the basics quest levels? Or reduce to 1?

4 out 7 points given for free its way too much, better remove the perk forge then and players alteady would know it from start.

You should definitely get a pretty big boost in indoor FPS if your GPU was the bottleneck. The reflection workaround that Faatal did releases a lot of resources. I turned them off just to see and GPU usage goes way down -my GPU even went into P2 mode and down-clocked out of boredom. The textures are not even as dark as I'd imagined they would be with it off. Perfectly fine workaround.

this also means zero pack mule and other essential stuff

Also.. no mother lode, no miner69, how worth is it?

This ... and using shovels for dirt give no XP at all since b199

Leveling should be not so painful considering that now you need even more levels to not be trash (especially in SP).

Well you gotta sacrifice something for the easy game. Iron tools provide more progress than any of the perks you said.

If they fixed the tools like its said in the patch notes, use iron instead of stone its a mother lode and miner 69er.

 
So far.. In my opinion being able to get a forge on day 1 is lame. Takes the challenge out and can completely remove the stone axe on day 1

Just removed the challenge completely imo. I loved the grind for levels and point emphasis on what you want.

Maybe you could have made forge level 10 instead of 20? Instead of removing levels altogether.

Also, is the game more saturated/more color. Looks better..
