After playing more a17 i have more thoughts... i hate how higher tier weapons and tools just affect durability and mod slots, alot of items like the compound bow only has a couple mods for it. Beer is useless now as it only lasts seconds. And you shouldn’t get a blurry effect after just 1 beer thats stupid. Perks feel shallow now, i do like the quicker draw with the bow that, i can shoot like Legolas 😂. What i dont like is low level zeds taking 2 headshots with steel arrows and a lvl 6 compound bow.

Next thing, and this might not be popular, but i dislike the way weapons and tools are levelled now, i like how before tools degraded over time with repairs and you had to keep on top of making new ones, this new system feels way to streamlined and overall crafting doesnt feel as rewarding. Next weapons, i dislike how theres no more parts, i enjoyed slowly upgrading weapons over time and it really felt rewarding when that shotgun (with grey quality) you found on day 5, turned into a 550 quality badass shotgun by day 40. Things that that i miss. And the new maps omg, i rented a 12 slot server from bluefang, and the map is so small only 2 different biomes spawned, i can run from one end to the other in a day easy. The new vehicles are nice, theres some things i dont like but feel its not to big of an issue. Also the fact fov cant be adjusted easy and is stuck on 65 is total cancer. Really the most iv liked of this update is the new zombie ai, other then that, this update did not feel worth the wait and had much more fun playing overhaul mods for a16. This is just my opinion, thanks for reading this.

Edit: i just though of this and one thing i will say. Melee is a major improvment, i never used melee and now its one of my favourite things to do. Power smashing a zeds head with a sledgehammer is AMAZING.

A lot of mods are still in the making, instead of working on getting that gun from parts from 1 to 600, now it'll be getting all the mods you want since there will be more than can be used at some point. So even though just a couple for the compound bow now, there are plans for many many more, so that is a non-issue. Also, as for taking 2 steel arrows with lvl 6 compound bow, that's a non-issue once you actually get the mods for it to increase damage which is what is wanted. A lvl 1 vs lvl 6 item is the same other than durability, but can have mods and many of them to make them way stronger, much like the lvl 1 to 600 of A16.4. And mods will also be tiered too at some point (I may be wrong, but I believe they will be to make us look for them even after we get the kind we want). As for RWG, that is still work in progress. Navezgane is actually over double the size of A16.4. Right now, just with it being experimental still, we'll see what they do until stable.

 
Blade traps are a lot of fun, but they are expensive to repair and dont have much hp. I wish there was a tier 2 blade trap that doubled the hp. As of right now it's more optimal to just use turrets and forget about blade traps entirely.
I like blade traps, as you don't get exp either way, by using a funnel system and 8 blade traps i kill everything on horde night without having to worry or waste bullets on them and sometimes i get drops. If i want exp i'll hunt them myself, horde night is more of an inconvenience now in A17

Yea i know alot is still in the works, i just wanted to give my feedback on playing a17e on how it is, the game just feels extremely unbalanced, and figured since its in expeimental this would be the best time to discuss it 😀. One thing i did forget also is the new quests, i know rn its only fetch quests and clear quests atm (preston garvey anyone) but i see the potental and can tell this setup will be used for a REAL storyline and quests system if that still a plan.

 
Hi. Can anybody help me. Im getting an error when i access the map.
"failed to read past end of stream".

when i close map, i can move for about 10 blocks, then i fall through the world. When i reappear, my character is frozen and i have to ctrl,alt,del and close 7days.

This only started happening to me on B208.

Playing MP on RWG. Nobody else having the problem.

I have unistalled/reinstalled twice.
If it helps, I have experienced the same thing in Navezgane last night, twice. Once my position was reset, I couldn't move, but I could open some menus. I was able to go into debug mode and teleport around the map, but I was still frozen regardless. Exiting and logging back in was the only way to resume playing.

Thanks mate. Hopefully somebody knows a fix for this. Nobody else on the server i play on is having this issue, and i been playing with the same guys since A14. It only started after B208 dropped.

I just tried flying around in GM in SP to open as much map as possible. Opened and closed map at least 30 times. I could not replicate the error at all.

Heck if I followed Gups terrain map example then new rwg seems like it will allow folks to map States/Countries pretty convincingly. Looking forward to those fer sure.
The down side is that you have to hand place every POI, the roads, water and spawn points. The upsides are the same list. There isn't a way today, at least that I have found, to present your terrain and have the RWG then do the rest of the layout and necessary smoothing.

I did however, build a nicely crafted city that I merged into an existing RWG world that I liked the overall terrain of. I will probably slowly make a library of zones that I can then merge into different RWG worlds. My current one has a good portion of a subway system built. In another, I have placed an underground town. Still working out the underground town with secret entrances and/or hardened abandoned vault type entrances.

Really? Dang, that seems weird. Been a while & I don't follow the RWG threads, but wasn't there something about sockets before? Guess I interpreted those as something like place a marker for "Small Town", "Industrial", etc. then the rwg code randomized from a prefab/POI list to scatter them around the X x Y area defined by the marker.

Can mods have the option to use forged iron as an alternative ingredient to forged steel for a less powerful version? Mods seem so gated until level 30.

 
Has anyone else's in-game Video Resolution option reverted back after restarting their PC?

Running a 1920x1080 monitor, dropped game resolution to 1600x900 for frames in early experimental. Pretty sure I had to reset after b208 installed, but don't think I've had to reset again until just now after restarting computer.

 
Yeah it's been quiet on the new patch news... I think the lady we'r heard was from faatal Thursday or friday.

Running a 1920x1080 monitor, dropped game resolution to 1600x900 for frames in early experimental. Pretty sure I had to reset after b208 installed, but don't think I've had to reset again until just now after restarting computer.
Yeah, they're is something weird going on with settings not sticking properly. One PC here had then fine, and the other one here showed the proper resolution setting at startup, but when I join amp or sp game, it bumps it up to system default. (From 720p here up to 4k)

The rest of the drones are fine, so I just reset it and play on!

Yep yep. I just know not everyone wants to peruse through near 3,000 pages of posts to see what the devs have talked about from time to time, lol. So just tried to sum up some of it. But yeah, the game does feel a bit odd. Way weak at first, have to find the right mods and stuff. But I hear once you get it, you can kill things a bit too easy (I've yet to find any kind of mod outside of schematics through 30+ hours of playing A17E, so I can't personally say anything). Just will take a lot of balancing, heh. As for quests, I did hear that it was still the plan to have a storyline. I'm sure they have someone working on it as we speak. Though I can't wait for more NPCs to be involved to have more of a storyline than just through the traders.

Yep this happened to me and a mate of mine.

 
faatal`s AI evolved and leaked into these settings and now they got a mind of its own.
We only got a few weeks at most before we have to wake up in a bathtub filled with pink sludge, and plugged into a computer. I don't wanna see this guy offering me a blue or a red pill!

I noticed that the server is very CPU-heavy,

can you make any improvements?

Because at your alpha 16, 11 people are online and a CPU usage of 11% and the alpha 17 is 4 people online and 21% at least.

Can it be looked over there again,

where the CPU is eater?

My server has 2 cpu, 16 cores a 2 GHz

64 GB of RAM

Ok, here are the complaints that I have received from people that I play with. All seasoned players who have been around pretty much since A6/7. Well over 20,000+ hours in game, who feel that many of the fun aspects in the game have been removed and replaced with systems that are more of a grind.

Why does it take 3 or more headshots to kill a zombie? I can see 1 or 2 , even big momma or the fat guys taking 3, but i have some of them walking at me with 3 or for arrows sticking out of their eyes and mouth. Granted i am using stone arrows, but i have 4 points in all 5 attributes, as well as 2 points in archery and 2 points in Boom Headshot. A kill shot is a kill shot.

Turn off weather survival until its worked on and finished. You cant do anything to fix it, but it affects your survival. Stamina goes down quicker and you lose your open slots and become encumbered. You step into the burnt biome and your hot. One step onto the green grass and its gone.

The zombie loot drops are too scarce. Its maybe 1 out of every 100 kills you get something. Aside from the XP, killing them is a grind and boring.

The food and water counters are a pain in the ass as well..You have to constantly have to go back and forth now and look at your food number to see how much you can eat or drink. Also now you are clicking through 3 pages of charecter stats instead of having it all on the first page of pulling up your charecter. Not easy in the field with zombies approaching. I take a drink and the counter starts climbing 1 digit at a time...it makes it too easy to get sick which is a waste in my eyes.if you are at 3/4 stamina. You drink 2 or 3 bottles of water and you start walking and 5 minutes later...you are sick ..i would rather catch a cold in game, if you dont have enough clothes in the snow biome..something a bit different.. Why cant the stamina and health go up to the full amount right away like in A16 after each water or bandage.

Lights on other players mining helmets, doesnt help light up an area for others in your party or anyone for that matter. . Also there are many instances of light bleed through walls for torches and helmet lights.

Start out the night killing zombies and by the time you can get down and collect your arrows...they are gone, because it took you too long.

Zombies can totally wreck your building....GREAT..but every deterrent you put down, wood spikes for example, do nothing to stop them. Its a survival game, but none of the tools you gave me, help me survive.

The difficulty of the start of the game is rushed because by the time you hit 20, you are faced with an overwhelming level of ferals and greenies who can destroy your base but you are very unprepared to handle. As soon as you enter the door Zombies spawn in or awaken and start running at you..My single shot bow is useless, as well as my 9 mm and the 50 bullets I have. The balance is just too far tilted towards the zombies in the early stages of the game....I can only imagine what will be coming at you at level 100.

Because your rewards are all based around the traders now, everyone tends to group up around them now instead of spreading out across the map. I NEVER used traders in game and now if i want to level up or get certain things or points,,i have no option but to visit them .

The game has become very direction orientated, instead of the free roam feeling of previous alphas. Just feel i am being grouped with the herd towards a certain direction, that I dont necessarily want to go.

There are a few more that I will add. RWG really needs to get some fixes.

If the whole streamer weekend was to get new players to try the game..This one direction, forced gameplay will turn alot of people off and do the exact opposite.

We are still playing ...waiting for the next patch, but feel much of the "freeplay" is no longer in game. Decisions are being made for you as well as, being forced to play with others. Although we interact as a group, we dont always play as a group due to different family demands, timezones and work schedules. Group play should be a choice and not the preferred way of playing.
