there are several reasons for vultures to attack a player... as you will learn. (they are not cowards), 1st reason is when a player suffers damage, they sense damage (so-to-speak) and they will then be very aggressive... and then there are..... ???? :)

My god, a wandering horde appeared shortly after 22:00 and tore through my POI like it was butter, they fed well.

How did they know I was there?

 
Can someone help me out with Linux Dedicated Server install?

Are the instructions the same?

I tried doing 7dtd.sh updateengine --experimental and it does download the new version (can tell by the serverconfig.xml file.

I tried running the server manually and also via instances with no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

but seriously there must have been a reason... doing anything, in open where they can see/sense you or hear you doing something... come on, give us the juicy details so we can all enjoy :)

 
Performance seems worse. Max video settings I’m getting 54 fps but moving around looks more like 20 to 25. Fram rate looks better at medium but looks like washed out crap.

This issue listed above seems like it could be a fairly big deal. A 1080 Graphics card is only barely not the top tier (since release of the new Nvidia GPU) so this game should rock on at high graphics settings. Does TFP have a team in place to ID the guilty parties?

 
I am pretty sure I'm not a fan with this update. My fears of it becoming far more arcadey were almost immediatly confirmed. Guns also seem completly useless with how strong bows are, how they're silent, and how you can recover ammo. Meanwhile I shot a pistol 8 times enough to kill two zombies, with headshots and had two minihordes literally spawn to the side of me.

Also the uncarvable zombies makes it kinda rough in the beginning tobegin training knives since there's no reliable way to get bones.

 
Great update, seems to run well on single player, survival feels a lot more gritty. I was pleasantly surprised to discover how much I enjoy my arrows sticking out of zombies! And how much is gated now... can't cook anything but basic food from the start? Wow! Only one skill point per level? It really makes the game more about minute to minute survival for me instead of instantly looking for advanced recipes.

One thing, when repairing (low level) items they skip the crafting queue and repair in less than a second. Is this intentional, or should I report it as a bug?

if there is something extremely wrong, dont hesitate to do a bug report in the correct thread/section please. if its a bug it will be checked in to and if its not.. you will be told.

No complaining about the difficulty.

Remember, Alice don't cry about the zombies getting more difficult with every new movie.

I have no problem living with only the bow. And i LOVE the new bow. On horde night though a shotgun is nice to have.

Personally i think guns should be rarer but do a hell lot of more damage. And having the Tires/quality connected to the durability and not the damage. (I dont know if this actually is the case any more in A17) a brown needs a lot more love (read repair) than a purple.

I agree. It makes me play more "realistic". I wouldn't run straight in to a building bashing zombies heads if i just woke up to the apocalypses. I think i would stay low, having patience waiting for the right opportunity.

 
My girlfriend is being stuck for long time on "Building environment". She also can't conect to my local server. Everything was ok on alpha 16
look at the config file, then Look at the networking et delete the mention of steamnetworking. it should work.

 
I wonder if (those before us in 2017) had this much fun transitioning from Alpha 12 to Alpha 14...

Game is still tough love but I'm enjoying most of it.

 
I'm a sneaky and stealth player and loved the bow and crossbow in the last Alphas for silent takedowns.

It seems in A17 the bow is not completely stealth anymore and draws aggro? Is this intended?

 
Am I understanding correctly that the increase in weapon quality/color (specifically bow and club) is purely related to durability? No increased damage from higher quality bow/club? That almost takes all the purpose out from investing into higher quality items :(
Also, in the same way, the difference between wooden club and the iron club is only increased durability? Makes no sense
This is bugging me as well. I was testing out perks to get an idea of what to prioritize when I play for real when stable releases, and both weapons and tools seem weaker now even at endgame. Perfect quality compound bow with mods + all related damage perks + sneak attack would sometimes not kill just a normal zombie playing on the default difficulty. Perfect steel pickaxe + mod + 5/5 Miner 69'er took 4 power hits to break through just stone in the ground. Considering the point investment required that seems a bit weak in both cases.

I'm fine with the number of sleepers I think, but sometimes they are WAY too alert and become active from several rooms away. Some looked like they probably came out of some neat hiding places too but the surprise got kind of ruined by them being alerted too early. Though I'm thinking this may have been because the From The Shadows perk wasn't working possibly? I noticed my sneak meter was still going up for every little thing I did even with the perk maxed. Playing sneakily just didn't seem to be working for me.

On a similar note, the suppressor seems to not work at all on the marksman rifle. Meter spikes to 100 when you shoot. Didn't try it with other weapons yet because I had to call it quits for the night.

Smaller issue: If you have both a helmet with a flashlight and night vision goggles, it doesn't toggle through both anymore and just turns night vision on and off.

Other than those things though, I see an amazing update here once things get ironed out. :) Great job overall.

 
It feels like zombies vision is better, I shot a zombie in the back the times before he started to walk to me, but other zombies has spotted me a few meters away. So i think i depend on if you are in their sight.

 
this has already been discussed... priorities first tho, so be careful what you wish for cuz ya never know what's lurking around the next corner :)
Oh you mean that other things will be attracted by the airdrops. Like zombies and bandits.
