I do disagree that there was no gameplay benefit to clay patches :) There's been plenty of times I've had to plan out bases to ensure I have ready access to clay. Why in my latest Dead is Dead I was in a snow biome, and had to go search it out... mini adventure in itself!
You'll still have to get off the snow biome to go get clay, since Roland already said that snow and wasteland do not give clay.

I can guess that the idea originated with Madmole as he has a passion for consolidation.
What an odd thing to have a passion for as a former modder. I would think his passion would be expansion of ideas, not removal and consolidation of them.

Icecream is sweet.
Faatal my frendd cna u tel m3...........................

Will Engine quality affect final product of [object].

4x4, Motorbike, etc.. akin to current / previous iteration of Mini Bike.

If the material list is to be combined into one singular [object].. (Assuming it cannot be dismantled, if so.. then I guess never mind, logical approach as we know it goes on from here) how will we upgrade the parts that have performance value?

EG. 4x4 crafted with 1/600 Engine. (I recall that quality is changing too, so.. also in respect to that however it's functioning.)

Isn't that going to end up with a lot of n00bs on servers trying to loot their first house and being faced with sleepers far higher than their level can deal with because a higher level player popped past and spawned them earlier?
Maybe use the loot respawn timer (I'm sure MP respawn loot) in a POI, at the same time, reset the zombies and loot to a neutral state.

So, low level players get simple zombies/loot and the "Rambo" players get the good loot and the mini-bosses.

I believe his focus is on getting as many active zombies as possible.

But now that 2019 Unity is projected to have so much capability, maybe MM will not be so focused on that.

In anything creative you sometimes have to decide to cut things down so that your creation doesn't become a bloated aberration. Not sure why it would be weird that a modder might want to consolidate his mod concept. Of course his own vision of it won't be shared by everyone, but that doesn't make it weird.

Yeah I personally just wanted to put my face in my hands and cry when I read that but.. I just stayed quiet. Seems safe now that people are talking about it.

Simplicity to the point of hand-holding upsets me. It's turning into World of Warcraft.

There's turning left or right, or there's just going straight ahead.. simplicity at the cost of freedom.

I think most dedicated players would feel a 'bloated aberration' is just more things to do in a game.

Land Mines

Hey. I just wanted to talk about the land Mines. I don't mean to sound like some guy complaining but here I go.

I really don't see the need for land Mines in the game. Except for at Military bases. Basically in the fire zones only. Why do they randomly generate in the biome? Why do they insta kill? Why are they in the game and what's the point?

I'm not exaggerating on this in any way, I just get randomly blown up by them countless times In different areas. And it got really annoying. I uninstalled for the time being. But I'd really love for you to look into it. Love that I chose to support your content and I can't wait to see what's to come of it. You are all amazing devs! Love you guys <3

Its not going to happen is it Fun Pimps? I have hammered this point and annoyed with my mediocre music and point! In Arma3 we can create insane custom sound backgrounds that really creates the mood and adds so much to the game!!! I CAN MAKE ANYTHING HAPPEN MUSICALLY WITH A TRIGGER AT ANY POINT IN GAME in ARMA3 ! Anything music or sound effects by trigger! PLEASE ADD THIS TO 7dtd!!! for us server admins ! With My audio recording software and music gear I could create some insane background atmosphere effects on my server and thats what I want to do! Not so much music but scary atmosphere effects would be awesome!

Jax, how about if we both agree that the other isn’t saying “you just shut up!” Okay?
That way you can keep posting your fears and worst case scenarios and I can keep posting my impressions and the people can read both perspectives.

When I say that the game is the best it’s ever been in my playing of it, that is in no way meant to stop you from expressing your dismay over what you think it’s going to be like. Feel free to continue to post your concerns. None of your posts expressing criticism have been deleted.

I’ll continue to give my honest impressions and in this case getting my clay needs in every shovelful of non-sand non-snow non-wasteland terrain hasn’t detracted at all from my game. But, I can see your point of view about the whole picture when you look at wood, and meat, and soils and I encourage you to continue to push against simplification and streamlining and the “dumbing down” of the game.

But you don’t need to couch your remarks with things like “what you say can’t stop me from disagreeing”. No duh. That’s a given. Keep on keeping on, man.
Hi!

I like to ask then, now we got only 1kind of "ground" texture, or this is "just" a hervest effect? The removed soil parts? And the "universal" soil is now used at farming to?

thats nothing new. you can pickup minibikes in A16.
But that's done by disassembling the minibike, right?

Sorry, it's been almost a year since I last played, and I've almost always lost interest in the game before I got to the minibike stage.

I suppose they could add a significant 'time to pick up' delay like the forge and workbench, or even make it so you can only pick up the vehicle if its within your landclaim block. This would discourage players from cheesing the system and require extra resources if they get the vehicle stuck in a body of water. Want your vehicle back cuz you did something dumb? Make a landclaim block first, or make it take 30s to pick up--or both.
edit: You could also make it require a wrench to simulate taking it apart.
Yeah those sound like some good ideas!

Except they already confirmed that the different biome soils will still retain their unique appearance, which is what Jax was doubting. Obviously clay patches are gone, that's not at all what I was saying.
It's a matter of perspective, I guess. You can say they didn't remove the "different appearances of soils in different biomes." But we are losing two biomes, and the reason we're losing them is because the number of terrain textures - which create their unique appearances - caused too much of a performance hit. So there was a good reason for Jax's question, "So now most ground will also have simple looks to them?" I don't know about most ground without seeing the rwgmixer, but the ground in Alpha 17 will look simpler, since we won't see landscapes of plains ground or maple forest ground anymore, and they've confirmed the terrain textures haven't been redone, either.

I agree. It would be difficult to determine how many times something should fail. I would like to see crafting have a chance of failure until you level up your Fixer perk. maybe a .5 percent chance that club you made would be faulty until your skill increases.
Sure it wouldnt be fun, but a very low amount of "unfun" should be expected in a game that challenges you to get better via skill raising.
...No, I can't get behind adding things that you yourself admit wouldn't be fun. Adding any chance of something that's not fun sounds counterproductive. If some amount of "unfun" is expected, okay, but let's not go out of our way to add it!

Jumping 2 blocks high - Perks might get you this high?
I really hope so! Otherwise, those perks for jumping higher aren't going to be very useful at all. Sure, some block shapes are less than a full block high, but that wouldn't come up often enough for the perk to be worth much, unless the level designers have been deliberately using those shapes with a 1.5-block jump in mind.

You'll still have to get off the snow biome to go get clay, since Roland already said that snow and wasteland do not give clay.
Well, no, because there's still dirt under the snow in Alpha 16, so there will probably be clay soil under the snow in Alpha 17.

It's one thing to see it as a necessity, as you describe it, it's another thing for it to be someone's passion, as described by Roland.

Why do they randomly generate in the biome? Why do they insta kill? Why are they in the game and what's the point?
Welcome to the forums. Your question would be better off in the General Discussion or Questions sections, but I'll answer it here.

You can imagine they were left by bandits, who apparently work in mysterious ways. The random ones only appear in the wasteland, which is meant to be a more dangerous biome than the others. They are not necessarily an instant kill; a bit of armor can make the difference between life and death here. They're in the game basically for the same reasons any other trap is in the game.

Yeah well Roland said he has a passion for *consolidation*, not for "removal" as Jax added later. So yeah, I see nothing wrong to have a passion for consolidation of your creative vision.
