I have a question regarding mods. Can turrets and dart traps be updated to use the mod system?

To me, turrets are just ridiculously OP. I'd like them to start as a basic device (which you have to aim manually) with an external trigger like a tripwire. Add a computer mod which enables it to only fire at desired targets. A motor mod will allow it to move and target enemies in an area vs a fixed aiming point. Night vision mod allows it to function in the dark. Heavy barrel for extended range, etc.

The dart trap (my favorite) could really use a new design and 3d model which allows you to aim it like the motion sensor. Being able to mod it with a laser tripwire trigger would give me so many more base defense options. If it must stay as a block, at least let us choose which of the 5 holes it shoots the dart from.

The epic feeling of getting the minibikebook on day 30 on low loot is awsome! how it would be to have it on day 1? that's is terrible gameplay vice...
Rest easy....finding the Minibike book on Day 1 might be something you never need worry about again.

Having to restart after a year and a half isn’t beyond the pale...
Most of the forced restarts have been due to changes in the blocks and terrain. How many of those other games that avoid restarts are voxel games trying to perfect a living procedurally generated random world?
Indeed. Though I hope for A17 that we're not changing terrain/block generation between minor versions, unless it's a critical bug fix which can't wait. A16 was a good example of how disruptive it can be, with people playing A16.x to .3 until .4 came and you pretty much had to restart... which made some annoyed enough to stop playing altogether.

Unavoidable at times, but if it can be avoided all the better :D

Spikes on your roof? Auto turrets?
If the wooden spikes shred gyrocopters as well as they shred minibikes in A16, wooden spikes will rule the rooftop gardens ;)

thats above building limit, so people can just fly to someone tower if its not protected enough
Is it? have you heard a Dev say that or are you just guessing. Notice the question marks where I listed the limits? that's because I am not sure of that info yet you use that uncertain info to draw a supposedly final judgement on what it means? Ok dude, gl with that.

I can hardly bear it . Get it? lol.

Madmole"I'd thought I'd seen it all in the wasteland, until this bear-ded guy pulled up in a 4x4 and told me to get in. Fun pimps Fridays are always a blast!"
I am praying that his quote is a slip up and the reason he was asked to get in is that they finally got passenger working for the jeep...

Somewhere there is a sticky thread with suggestions about how to prepare for a new alpha, like what you should delete, download etc but for the life of me I can't find it. Search function isn't very useful or I'm dense....

If someone could post a link to it, I'd be grateful.

By the same logic, what about shooting the air? Or the ground? Or anything that isn’t an entity? Getting XP for that is a pet peeve of mine. It would be nice to know if TFP consider it intentional or not.

If that doesn’t come to pass, I would recommend putting your to-do lists on signs in a prominent position inside your shared base.
easier to remember. but i think its a good idea and they should fix something like that :)

i never done anything for xp. my play stile is: do what you need to do to survive and eventually thrive. i believe, many others do the same. xp coming anyway, slower or faster.
With the greater importance in staying well feed, I plan to focus on starter missions then food for a while.

I might be less prepared for day 7, but getting hungry can start a death spiral if you're not careful.

Faatal said he is 70% done with the code for multi-passenger vehicle support, my hope is that he gets all his other work done early and has time to finish it up before A-17e release because that would be a welcome surprise.

I think we're gonna need to see some video proof of said claim lol
It's possible, you can believe your eyes.

:)

***At Al's Marina and Fitness Bar, if a zombie bear says he can bench 40,000 pounds, you nod your head and go: "Wow!". As always, if you plan on insulting a zombie bear, please wait until we get the cameras running first! ***

I would like to see this also. Currently all turrets are gated behind a level and point cap which you need to work your way to, but as soon as you can build them nothing gets past them.

Slowly upgrading your defences part by part is alot of fun IMO.
