you will be surprised my friend....the complaints and aggravation I have heard and seen. Too many choices out there
Yes there are good choices out there. But how many can you flatten any POI and build up a fortress there, where mobs can kick in? There are no voxel games that are as good as 7D2D IMO.

Might as well just wait until next year at this point...Just go GOLD!! It's getting a little old with the maybe this and maybe that. Too many people have given up and moved on to other games such as SCUM...At least they are updating and you can throw melee weapons.

Coughs* ITS OVER JOHNNY * Coughs
I'd think the big part of it is that most modders have said they aren't going to work on their mods anymore until A17, because what's the point when A17E is coming out soon. This was a big thing in July that I was noticing, and now months later, still no A17E and modders aren't working on much new stuff. I'm not blaming either side, A17E is done when it's done and I'm excited and wanna play it now, lol, but no rush, I would rather it be done right, and modders don't want to work on something that's going to be discarded anyways because of the overhaul. It's like there's a few things I want to mess with now, but why do that when A17E comes out soon. Then it keeps getting pushed off every week because "it comes out soon" or "at some point", lol. Maybe it's because I haven't done it yet that A17E hasn't come out O.o cause it seems once I start something, whatever it was that I kept postponing it for, finally happens... hmmmmm

Agreed.best $20 i have ever spent on a game..however..people have a limited amount of time and will play a game they see as more interesting or better potential or whatever...human nature to try the next best thing.

@roland shoudnt the pole text say "A17 will be released when the bugs are fixed and the textures are all revamped"? And add a smily for every 10 textures that are pending

I seriously don't understand what people think they're going to accomplish by coming in here, complaining about things they know next-to-absolutely-nothing about, disparaging the development team, making massive ad-hominem attacks on the character of the Pimps, spewing hyperbolic vitriol about how EHRMAGHERD, ALL DE OVVER GAYMES I PLEY GETS UPDETS ALL DE TYM, and basically acting like spoiled children who are owed something that they are equivocally NOT OWED.
ANYONE who follows this forum for any decent length of time and still refuses to see how hard the TFP team is working...well, they're either willfully ignorant or woefully stupid. I won't make the call as to which.

Grow up, people. Not happy with the length of the dev cycle? Fine, that's a perfectly legitimate frustration. It's NOT a license to behave like a whining, tantrum-throwing child. Put on your big boy/girl shorties and get OVER IT.

Also, if I forgot a dev/forum overseer I forgot to @, sorry! :D

@Roland, @Gazz, @fataal, @Prime, and @madmole -- Thanks for all you've done...and I, for one, am excited to continue the ride. I've gotten WAY more than $20 worth of fun out of this game, and I know I'll continue to do so.
Thank you Xandy, been wanting to say this for a while now. Registered on here just to give my thanks.

When I started this game I invited 3 other friends to come play. They all bought the game and we all love it. The peaceful walking around a forest, the exciting looting in a new world to find stuff you need, and even the jump scares the zombies give us when we didn't see one coming.

Thank you very much to all the people working hard on 7 Days To Die! :loyal:

I just wish this was more of a survival exploration game, than a tower defense game. Once you dig underground you are basically invincible, which just breaks the game since in every situation you know the best decision is just to dig down. There is literally no in-game reason to every leave your underground hole. If you want fancy equipment (which you don't need), then you can just mine ore and sell it to a trader... so at most you walk to the trader every now and again. The 'special' zombies are also really annoying, there is no reason that traditional zombies can't be a sufficient threat - no need to add more types.

The one problem with that idea is that I still haven’t found a game that has the potential of keeping my interest more than 7Days. I keep looking but nothing so far. I continue to play 16.4 every day and it hasn’t gotten old.

Correct. I've said this about 3 times before. Still in development where we are it.
Buffs, skills, quests, items, recipes, RWG, UI, AI, vehicles, sound, etc are all still being finished and debugged.
I hope quests (and eventually more NPC's) are a major part of this and next iteration. :smile-new:

Dude this game has been in alpha since 2013... Only recently have they hired a bunch of new people.
...and? It's been in alpha, with consistent (even if slow) progress, and regular (even if slow) communication from the developers.

I don't mind if it stays in alpha for a few more years, even. The developers are putting together what they feel is the best game they can put forward, and they're consistently improving, expanding, and deepening the game's play value.

I DO NOT understand this fascination with "dude it's been in alpha for years..." SO. WHAT? Did they state a hard release date? Ever?

Again...don't like the length of time, fine...nobody's forcing you to track this game, play this game, or continue to follow its progress in any way. If you don't like it, then find something else to do. Whining about it accomplishes equal parts JACK and SQUAT.

Hehe I wouldn't be surprised.
The wife and I spent a week driving around in Utah, Montana, Idaho & Wyoming in a very, very compact Toyota Yaris. I kinda felt out of place between the trucks there. I've seen units driving around which were bigger than the dorm I slept in as a university student!
WTF Vega, you were this close to seeing Mt. Rushmore, and you didn't visit my state?? :miserable:

It's both. Don't want a tower defense game? Don't build a tower. There's just as much play value in exploring the world, living by your wits and whatever you manage to scrounge up, only using crafting stations that appear in the POIs, and moving from POI to POI, testing yourself to see how long you can survive. That 7th night horde might rip you to shreds without a defensible base...or you might just get lucky enough to fortify a last-second shelter that you can make work...only to have to move on the next day.

You can very nearly play the game however you like. Make it yours, man. Sounds like a challenging way to play!

Well, they might have put a pinch on that play style, but you don't really need to build and surface building. A17 will add a lot of exploration/questing it sounds like.

Agreed. That is one of the perks of sandbox games. You can [or you dont want, eiher way...] fortify, or you just go explore,do quests. Try to find all traders, or that one leather pants you were looking whole time :)

p.s. Mr tRolland i do understand your findish joke, game will be out when it`s finished [simple as that]

Definitely NOT happening in the month of September and most likely NOT the first weekend of October and probably NOT the second weekend of October and maybe NOT the third weekend of October. And beyond that-- who knows?
It's NOT done when it's NOT done...?
restain the KRAKEN!

Don't want a tower defense game? Don't build a tower.

I don't, I build an underground hole. I never see zombies. I got bored and logged in again, replanted some mushrooms, made some more concrete blocks... decided to look up above ground, and why bother? The game needs to force challenge upon the player, not expect me to deliberately handicap myself in order to generate an artificial challenge. Sure, I could decide to only use a club and no armor or skill points and run around at night with no light... but why??

There is literally no in-game reason to leave my base whatsoever. I have water, I have food, and it's perfectly safe underground.

A true sandbox game allows you options, but continues to present challenge. This is not a sandbox game, because you can simply avoid any challenge. The developers have failed to make a game that is challenging on its own merits without the player deliberately handicapping themselves. Even worse, the introduction of tower defense dynamics (ie: hordes of 'special' zombies) will simply punish the player for exploring, and encourages you to simply sit underground and eat mushrooms. Even if you want to fight the special zombies (but why bother?), the best strategy is to mine ore and trade it to the trader for better weapons.
