Hi, i have a question about A17experimental.I've only been playing since July, so I have never had to update the game before.

Is a savegame from the A17e compatible with subsequent A17-versions or do I have to start a new game?

Thanks. :)
It's likely to be compatible, since its not a major update between experimental and non experimental.. but I wouldn't count 100% on it.

Highly unlikely to be compatible.

Possibly still playable tho, depends on what changes.

DX72 as you can see by the varying responses to your question no one really knows for sure, it's all guesses so don't get your hopes up and make sure and read patch notes. The only thing you can count on for sure is that this is early access alpha and it is ever changing and evolving which makes things unpredictable and uncertain.

Nope, I clicked on the right one. Or are you trying to say your post wasn't being snarky about someone posting their number of hours played?
Hours does no matter so much, once a player have fun in any way of its own. For example this is my 1000th post here , I never cared about it, but only remember the fun I had around. Most important is if you enjoy the time, not count it. ;)

Cheers guys.

I think an extensive options menu somewhat like Factorio would solve most issues people have.
Problems solved!
I love factorio's options menu. I would absolutely love it if TFP had a thorough options menu.

I have one question. Will it be possible to take the region files from A17-E to A17 without problems? Thank you.
The only way anyone could answer that question is if they knew EVERY bug that will be found and fixed during experimental. I can tell right now that TFP hopes they won't find a bug severe enough that they have to change the format of the region files. But they can't guarantee it.

you guys keep whining about everything that is wrong with a16, like they aren't fixing it in a17. they made a HUGE list of changes we can look at, they also made it clear that it is NOT a complete list! You can complain and speculate all you want, but the fact is, you're just wasting your breath. Wait until it's here, play it, then complain about the problems a17 has.

From what I've seen of the screen shots, and the videos, the only complaints I really have are:

Walk / Run speed feels a little too fast. (I have a slight problem with motion sickness)

And with all the new shiny graphics updates, the character models look out of place.

I will also stand firm in believing that it would be a good thing for them to look into optimising multiplayer, because the game is hella fun with a community of 30 people or more. If not during the alpha stages, hopefully when it goes gold. "up to 8 players" is okay, but it's even better with more. It's great to be running around the world and running across random bases or players, working together or competing for resources, and it makes a great economy for selling and trading.

PS: What happened to the Sedan??

Most likely not. With A16e to A16 - they strongly recommended a fresh server map. If you don't then some things may not fix properly, and you will end up encountering all kinds of weird and game breaking bugs.

Now if you just want the MAP, without all the stored player information, you can just reuse the map name when you launch A17 offical.

No guarantees. If you want a stable, long term game I'd advise that you wait until the experimental is over.

The sedan was just used as a placeholder to show off the mechanics of the SUV.
I could have sworn we got shown the Sedan again after he introduced the Jeep. :( We got all these cars laying around, it would be so cool to have a quest to like, push one home, and fix it up.

Awww, and all you found was some kraken poop but no kraken... :D
Ewww thats alot of poop

Hey has anyone seen the story about telltale games closing down? Sorry if its already been posted. I guess theyre who was converting 7D2D to console. The articles are easy to find just google it

And even then don't be too shocked if something happens and you have to wipe between A17.x and A17.y. A severe enough bug could cause a wipe after any update. :)

i'm interested in finding out what the new consequences of dying are. on the server i play o i have died 4 times due to bugs. maybe once was a bad decision on my part. in a16 all you lose is 10 wellness and that is so easy to get back its almost a waste of time. there are guys on the server with 100+ deaths . there is no big deal to it. in fact its easier to die/kill yourself to fix an infection or a broken leg than to deal with the issue.

MM said there would be greater consequences for dying... wonder how many will charge into a zombie horde if there are longer term deficits to dying..

Just play dead is dead like a man. The point of a survival game is to live as long as you can without dying.

A16E - A17 you mean?

I wouldn't count on keeping the region files as they have remastered the terrain and streamlined Biomes.

If they haven't messed with the generator and the way it uses the seed then things will be more or less the same.

I know it's best to just wipe it all and start again.

(BTW...I'm Looking forward to the "POI Editor" and "Terrain Editor" and hoping we can export a terrain/POI to edit and make prefabs to be inserted in game...)

I think you froget one thing.... It's Survival Horde Crafting Game.

For some players it's building simulator, or survival game, for others it's mix of both, so "dead is dead" is not an option for everyone.

I play in mixed style. I don't see any fun in pure survival, but mixing all aspects of game makes it fun.
