Computers have come a long ways in the last 5 years but they still have a long ways to go before we can have 4k graphics, super intelligent AI and a fully destructable world all at once and never drop below 60 FPS.

I only wish there was less focus on "making the game prettier" as it'll never be as pretty as non voxel games and focus on actual game mechanics... electricity was such an amazing addition and what happened to it? Lights are poorly balanced, searchlights are inefficient, so much stuff could be added and made with electricity, but its completely ignored because "you see this tree 1000 blocks away? now its 50% more pretty, we will also flip over buff and perk system upside down once more, because why not".

I have no idea what kind of priority list they have for the game, but it seems like they completely lost focus and instead of getting interesting features and expanding them(electricity being prime example here) they are fully dedicated almost exclusively to visual candy.

Sure, there are some more meaningful changes, like weapon revamp, weapon mods, vehicle variety and AI improvements, but do we really need that bunch of flowers to look better or a HD texture just yet, when it provides nothing for the gameplay?

I completely agree that the electricity system and certain other game play features are under developed and are important to the success of the game, however the graphics improvements aren't coming at a massive cost to performance in fact that was one of the points of switching over to Unity 2018.2 and Vulkan support because it has performance enhancing features like better multi-core utilization, offloading CPU related tasks to the GPU, things of that nature that will make the game run and look better with less or the same amount of resources it was using before with the old engine.

But it's different devs working on graphics to the ones adding features, so are you saying the graphics guys should just down tools and wait while the rest of the game is being developed?

Hello everyone, I have a question about Navezgane.

Will all new POIs be established in Navezgane?

Will there be new cities?

Basically, I would like to know the new changes on Navezgane for this Alpha 17

Thank you to everyone who will answer me :)

This person has it right. I would add (again) that Joel is the one showing off stuff, Joel is an art guy, so Joel naturally shows off art stuff.

Game features and gameplay are becoming more robust. Those things also (if I'm not mistaken) take considerably more work in terms of making sure that they function properly and that their code integrates well with other systems.

i just started my old pc with old a16.4 save. v-sync on i got 60 fps. it drops to 30 in some occasions. it is 5 years old and has only amd radeon hd 6800 card 1gb vram.

new pc without v-sync gets 150fps easy, drops to 80 sometimes. so computers are nearly there.

From everything I creeped on from the forum (and what I remember):

Maple Forest and Plains biomes removed (for all game types, Random Gen/Navezgane)

Perishton (now in winter biome) and Diersville have been redone, most houses look unique and are "dungeon" themed.

No new cities announced (though this could be one the "surprise features" they are keeping secret)

Most POI's have had a pass on new textures/updates. I think the new POIs number in the 80+ range from what I recall

Check the first page of this forum for more info, most new things are listed there.

Thank you. I wish more people realized that a programming team has different roles to play and 99% of the time will NEVER touch or even look at another team member's code unless necessary such as getting name variables, etc. that would benefit their own code. Whether players/customers/etc like it or not, it is typically the most efficient way, that way a single person doesn't have to learn and remember about 10x as much coding. The old saying, "Jack of all trades, but master of none".

But as for electricity, it's been said by the dev that works on it (can't remember specific name) that it will be worked on, just not for A17. They've had other priorities and is hoping that either a A17.X or A18 (don't start throwing around the whole it's going to Beta after this argument) there will be some updates.

May the dev tell me otherwise if I'm wrong, it's just been almost 2200 pages to have to remember or find the post, lol.

Thank you !

One more thing, 80 new POIs made entirely OR 80 POIs that were already existing but redone?

(And sorry for my bad english)

I'm well aware of how it works, but I'm not happy that there seems to be lack of development of depth to current features.

I know graphics are easiest for MM to focus on in previews, but it feels like we're waiting longer and longer and getting less and less.

I honestly do hope this is last time we're having feature flips like with weapons and skills/perks on A17 and I just want to not to worry about wipes with each release.

I'm here for 5 years.

I'm a little tired of this game taking so god damn long time to get out as much as I like it.

Number may have changed, but this is quoted from the front page:

"+More than 70 new POI's that have been level designed 4/14/18"

You have not started a new game in over a year?

My god how do you do it? Haven't you built, killed and done every single there is to do by now?

And what is your time frame on "when it should be done". It's impossible to put a timestamp on "done" when so many things are being worked on. Again I don't understand this rush to the finish line. I rather enjoy getting to start a new world, and see and experience new things. Its like buying a game once and getting five plus sequels to it every year for free.

So these are POIs that already existed but have been "improved"?

I agree that the remaining "flat" plants like cotton are a real eyesore, improving these would actually make a big impact. If they're still kept simple/ugly like that only cause of performance, probably turning down the spawn rates of all the resource-heaviest plants and trees would help, I'd certainly prefer that.

If the streaming event was this weekend, we'd know by now, right?

it gets dark really early. i mean, so dark at 17.00. i would like to have full daylight until 18.00. and then gets slightly darker. 20.00. could be as 17.00. on that pic.thanx for sharing:smile-new:
It is probably that biome that looks darker than the others.. I think a desert is brighter

I'm going to go with replaced entirely. I don't think it has been explicitly addressed if the original "empty" POI's have been scrapped or not, but even if they have just been gutted and redone they won't look much like they used to. Take the farmhouse, for example. They filled it with more character, added a basement entrance which is stuffed with new object models. It had a layout that was similar to other locations, but I believe these modifications are unique to that location. If you watch the videos, most if not all of the houses look unique rather than the cut/paste with a paint job like before.

Just my impression though, someone closer to the truth can feel free to chime in.

Ok thanks for answers :) !
