People? Who are these people you speak of? Have you perhaps polled all of the members of the community and extracted a majority? Or is this referring to yourself, just using a generic, vague, undefined "people" to give your comment the appearance of being relevant? :D
Oh, you missed it. We all voted him the man of the people, so he now speaks for everyone.

All praise be unto Sandor87a. May he be a proper representative of the people!

I will not bend under the pressure of the "people"! I did not get a chance to vote this, and thus the whole process is humbug! LIES AND CORRUPTION!

People. Plural of person. Fair to assume there's at least two people that are getting impatient.

the election was rigged we need a new vote

The intent behind adding "people are getting impatient -.-" at the end of the post is pretty clear. It's not an innocent, pointless statement (yes, obviously more than one person is impatient).

@Devs
I had an idea today you might find useful in regards to underground bases and address it in the future.

I understand the idea of the underground base is really appealing to players because of the safety it can provide, and that the core issue is how can you allow people to utilize this option but with a fair trade off. Not only that, but how can you make the trade off fit the core values of the game and the genre it wants to emulate?

My suggestion will allow for this option still, but make it much more difficult to do in the early game, and limit the amount of time players can spend underground in a fun and fluffy sort of way.

Make being underground limit the amount of oxygen available, and after reaching a certain depth there would be no oxygen. You can use mechanics similar to what water blocks use, but make them a hidden block that only occupies open spaces below the starting surface area. If you dig a large open pit you should be fine, with air being able to flow into it, however even then at a certain depth the air wouldn't penetrate.

So how do you dig underground bases? Air pumps.

You will need power, and air pumps pushing air underground for you to survive while you are down there. Animals will need to be included in this, and should be fairly easy to do an air quality check if they are underground to see if they are in danger, zombies however would be immune (as expected). Plants should be able to produce a small amount of oxygen, and underground growing an option using lights (but at a slower speed, maybe even cap their development to a tier or two lower than outside growth).

Add a pollution mechanic from generators that use gas, this way you won't want to be running them in an area the air isn't being pumped.

If you combine this with a water collection / hydration overhaul, and lingering hordes that hang out near the entrances of underground bases (both of these I already discussed earlier in this thread), I honestly think you can make it a viable and immersive option that will provide for some fun game play mechanics that fit the concept of this game better than having zombies that can dig.

I would love for some feedback and input from everyone, devs feel free to ignore me if you so choose (it is your game after all) and I will gladly not feel offended =)
The underground air and pump idea has actually been around for the last few alphas. It never gets a reply or even a mention from the devs. It maybe a limit of the engine. Flooding the tunnel with water and limiting the amount of time underground by stale air has also been mentioned.

Please no. while it is atmospheric, it is also potentially headache and seizure inducing.
They had flickering torches in alpha 4 or 5 but it had to be altered then removed because they were causing headache’s and vertigo issues with people.

So then in your own words, his (or her) point stands...yet, you gotta jump on it...SMH.
No, when I said "pointless" I meant that using the statement he used with the intent that you give it (saying that more than one person is impatient) is obvious to everyone and meaningless, which is why it's clear that he uses it to try to give some relevance to his personal opinion, not just innocently implying that more than one person is impatient.

What, you're seriously telling me that you've never come across arguments construed with the fallacy of using plurals around them? Politicians do it all the time :p

I can think of a lot of words to describe my feelings about A17, but impatient is not one of them. At my age (65) you learn that all good things take time and being impatient just raises your blood pressure. If you can't stand to wait, go do something else for a while (I have lots of other games I play, and bounce between those while checking back here occasionally to see how they are progressing).

I would much rather they take all the time they need to continue to develop a really good game into a great one.

Hats off to Joel and everyone involved in the development of 7 Days.. it has already given me a LOT of fun, and expect it to continue to do so for a long time! :tickled_pink: :encouragement:

So then... Cut the cheese!!!

The only thing a Fun Pimps should post from here forward is ... Its done and being released.... Unless that is So... PLEASE GET OFF THE FORUMS AND FIX THE FREAKEN GAME!!
What if they're waiting for their latest changes to upload and their choices are stretch and relax for 20 minutes or come on here and answer a few questions for 20 minutes? Are you still banning them then....?

Id spend the 20 minutes droppin a deuce. Then I could get back to work. :)
Maybe, like Guppy, Kinyajuu posts on the forum while dropping a deuce...

Beautifully said.

Dear dev-team, when will the Alpha finally come, estimates have been miserable and hints can be thrown into the barrel.
People are getting really impatient -.-
They have been "miserable" with this in the past, but you want them to give another estimate anyways? Are you a glutton for punishment or just completely clueless about how illogical you are?

Snip
As mentioned, a lot of what you wrote about has been brought up but in pieces not in total way like you described. If this is at all possible with the game engine, you could count me as a yes with this. As you described it, the entire thing makes sense and does not overly penalize the undergrounder. Yes there is risk but with work it can be overcome in a logical manner. The big question is whether the game would allow such an idea....oh and whether the devs buy into it as well.

Ezed, you're just being an intentionally obtuse troll here. (I hope that's the explanation for your response.) Drithyl's got the long and short of it.

now we are talking <image of cheese>
Looks delicious.
