I prefer to think of the schematic as a placeholder for some unique part that is needed for that gun. Something I wouldn't be able to make for myself with the tools I have available. Would it be more immersive if they used the parts instead of the schematic? Yes. Can I wrap my head around it and move on? Yes. Think of it like a kit with both instructions and parts. Sure, the instructions are still there when you're done, but you still need a new kit to get the parts for a new gun.
In the future, I suggest they replace the book with a corresponding lower receiver because each weapon has a different lower receiver that is not interchangeable... but what incentive would we have to search the Crack-A-Book if they take the books' use away? Realism vs immersion vs game play. Kind of like rock, paper, scissors - isn't it?

The firing pin. It’s 100% unique to every gun (afaik), so trade the weapon books out for firing pins? It’s not like we’d be able to make one of those on a workbench, lol. Not so sure about rocket launchers, but they must have some kind of firing mech too, so make that part the book’s replacement instead?
Just saw this after my last post. Firing pin could work. Or the whole bolt for that matter. But the Crack-A-Book relevence issue would still remain.

Maybe a roman style numbering would look better?

Why would that look better? We don't live in ancient Rome.

I'd prefer descriptive words over any numbering, myself.
shoddy

poor

standard

good

excellent

or something to that effect.
Agreed, but numbers are more succinct.

well, thats one way to look at your freshly minted wife and have her seem even prettier then she undoubtedly already is to you :p
Lol you are one smooth talker! But yes, I will use that line.. thanks ^^

Could be. Could just be some shadowing from the eve too.
#PrayforAO

Thanks for the pics Roland.
I don't think it's a real shadow. Notice the 'real' shadow under the car is much more distinct, with a sharp edge. The only way I could see the dark spot under the roof being a 'real' shadow instead of ambient occlusion is if it's a lower resolution shadow map because the house is farther away.

Guys i was watching this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKbh1jdpXGY about the new game of the walking dead aaaanddd i was thinking....My god, why don't we have a melee system with these animations of impacts in 7 days to die?! :upset:
Before we worry about fancy synced takedown animations, how about the zombies get an actual climbing animation? :)

When you get near a [sleeper] volume it spawns some amount of zombies at those spawner blocks based on volume and block settings. It picks ones you can't see, or if remaining are seen, it just spawns at the farthest ones.
Wait, so if the building's been leveled and you have a clear view of the entire space, you'll see sleepers pop into existence?

...will people on your friends list be able to put blocks down in your LC'ed base and possibly move crafting stations?
Boy, that would be awesome!

There are other things to learn in the bookshop, perhaps this could be a bit of balancing to make bookshops less critical?

That could be quite funny if the sleeper was on the top floor of a skyscraper.

Just so I'm clear. If I want to build a second pistol I have to have a second book?
... if books are not really being used as knowledge anymore, but just as ingredients, why not just make it a separate ingredient? One that makes sense? Like the spring?
Ill be sitting with popcorn watching the streamer when they get the release.

All the streamers will be trying to read the schems and thinking, why the hell cant I read this, do I have to lvl a skill or something. IT WILL HAPPEN!! It is such a weird change. I would rather it back like a15 where when you read more than one it would give you an extra skill point into that area. ie read more med kit schems used to give you more skill points into being able to create meds and so on, they had a use then, not sure why that was even changed.

The issue is some schems will be readable, and some wont, for example, I am assuming you can still read a gas can schem? or a first aid schem? does it take a minibike schem to craft a minibike I wonder?

The way i see it, they removed gun parts, but still wanted to build guns from something unique to that item, maybe leaving in one gun part would have made more sence, or make it a mod u had to find, eh just weird

oh now big momma is a stripper too wow thanks joel.
No! No! No! No!

oh gawds.... that's just... wrong..

(they do that, I will mod the rocket launcher to do an absolute INSANE amount of damage. Think anti-matter levels here...)

EWWWWWWWWWWW!

:plane: :puke:

I can give 99% assurance to that 72% that they won't be upset next weekend.
Nice! The best way to sidestep people being upset at something being done at a particular time, is to not do it then.

Incidentally, that might be why governments release critical information on a Sunday morning on a small notice board in the basement, where the lights are out and doors locked.

Of course, being dedicated fans, we have people stationed in all the basements, with night vision goggles, lockpicks, so we're gonna catch that A17 release no matter when or where or how it's released! :p

You hit the nail on the head. That's the exact reason.

Why do we need more incentive to raid a Crack-A-Book anyway?

Incentive for books:

Skill

Sell for money

Scrap for other items.

Used to add skill point if the player re-read it but that was taken out in Alpha-15 (I think).

No. Forcing the player to consume a skill book every-time they make a weapon does not increase the incentive, it only makes it more complicated than it needs to be.

I can fire pretty fast with a bow, just have to learn to lead the target.

"You see Ivan, when you throw the bow, you never run out of ammo."

Edit: Al's internal thinking in the Apocolypse: **Deer is scarce, this guy will die soon anyway... so**, "Well done!" :)

Hey, what will happens in next event? A17 Release candidate? what that is suppose to means?
the release candidate is a version they think will be good enough for release but needs a little bit testing to be shure. For us it would mean

get on the hype train shoooshooo

There's a 50/50 chance that these are pretty good casino odds.
"I can give 99% assurance to that 72% that they won't be upset next weekend."

Means they are not going to get upset because there is no streamer event next weekend.
