In the last few maps I’ve generated all the larger cities have basically come out like the old hub cities. I think TFP wants cities to be dangerous places. I spawned near one and on the night of Day 1 there was a glowing green cop walking around in the streets below the building where I was hiding.
There will be smaller groupings if POIs in the other biomes but cities are going to be areas of greater difficulty. What’s the downside to that?
I love what I'm seeing in the new RWG map. Snow up north and desert to the south is much more believable than the previously (way too random) random worlds. I like the dangerous cities in wasteland biomes, but maybe my only concern is whether there are enough smaller (but not too small) towns to provide good scavenging grounds early and mid-game. Hard to tell from that one screenshot.

I'm even more excited for A17 than I was before.

If cities are now in wasteland biomes, will they also have mines dotted here, there and everywhere? I’ve been blown up so many times whilst racing across wastelands on my minibike. I think cities should be dangerous, a large amount of the population of every given area would have been in or around a town/city. When they turned, they wouldn’t have just moved out into the wilderness, some of them even would have been trapped inside buildings (sleepers). I think it adds a layer of realism.

So why am I getting a reputation notification when I asked a legitimate question on whether it will be another Alpha or BETA? I came here to clarify it because Silenthunder on Steam said emphatically we were going to BETA according to MM's last Video.

With the problem with the Unity 2018 update really changed things up & I have taken SGD classes & it can't be both.

Is it going to be Alpha 18 or BETA, I did not come here to dispute the video or the mod on Steam, I came to ask for Clarification.

If you guys don't know yet then that's fine but I feel Players should have a good idea on what the New Time Line is due to the Unity Update.

That's all I was asking for was clarification so we are all on the same page & I am not demanding a Release or anything else.

I ask legitimate questions & I get Chastised for it so can we all get on the same page please.
Well, if MM said there will be two more updates after A17, does it really matter what the updates are called?

A lot of game companies just use numbers and some have Code names. Paradox released an update called "Cornflakes", I kid you not.

Edit: I would like three more updates so they can call them: "Ready", "Set" and "GO(LD)!" :)

I think you missed the crux of his statement.

It could be called "Guppy's Poopy Pants", it means nothing in terms of what they're adding, what they're going to add, and when they release. Absolutely nothing.

Will the next update take 2 years? I mean come on guys, this game is in early alpha since 5 years and you get out an update once a year. Do you really think that players would wait all this time when other companies keep their game updated weekly?! I really love this game but how do you think you can keep players playing it?

Randomness, and variety - the lack of each

Edit: I love the difficulty aspect of it, but is there any chance at all that a city is not wasteland? Some randomness goes a long way.

Cant we have difficult cities without them all looking the same? (Wasteland)

I'm guessing they keep players coming back because they have taken the time needed to make an actual good game. Plus, I've never seen a game in Alpha that got weekly updates. Examples?

Space Engineers. It sucked. They couldn't do a deep fix of their code which meant it just started getting slower and slower. Eventually they took out three months just to get their netcode working to a reasonable standard... it's now a few months after that and they're still fixing it.

Empyrion.

Yes the game is very very good, it is my favourite one but you can't leave a game with some serious bugs that are game and immersion breaking for a year and more.

Apperantly it doesnt matter if a game gets updated weekly or yearly. The toxicness of steam reviews is the same.

Which makes me wonder what your point was?

Cheers

Really? Hold my beer...

I never drown getting crates anymore, no matter how deep that they are. Here is a tip if a crate drops in deep water early game. Mark it and come back when you have around 4 - 10 Aloe Cream and 1 - 5 First Aid Kits on your Tool Belt. After each time you take damage from drowning use a cream for the first few HP hits and a kit when your HP falls below half.

Never died, too. I accept these moments as a challenge, not as unfinished or buggy part of the gameplay.

@Roland, do you know anything about new achievments, since so much stuff is changed/added/gonna be added. Thank you.

Wait, there's a workaround to prevent drowning from firstaid kits? Gazz!
