This first one is a capture of an 8000x8000 random world I created using the world generator. The generator is still a WIP but you can see that it creates a square map. The seed is absolute truth but will be hidden. The only name that will show up for this map is "Roboco County". If someone puts Roboco County in for the seed it will not generate the same map.World Generator
I love the fact that the new RWG seems to be more random.

Let me explain: with the old RWG, cities where placed in a grid pattern so their location was sort of predictable. Also the roads where pretty much in a grid.

From this pic, it appears as if the location of cities is no longer as it was and the roads are also reasonably diagonal.

I could be wrong though :)

A minor feature request. I'd like to be able to paint curtains to different colors. Is this possible to add?
Why? Well.. you know...

Meanwhile.... :)

What I wouldn't give to walk into a poi and it turns out to be the Black Lodge !

It could be called either, but regardless I know from internal discussions we want more variety of stuff, as in more content.
Agree, Nothing wrong with more stuff usually all the content is in before BETA is what I thought is all, from what I took away from my SGD classes anyway. More real news more content, woo-hoo nothing wrong at all

Looks like cities are all wasteland areas now which i LOVE. Reminds me of the old hub cities. Will also make cities more dangerous.

LOVE the mixing of biomes. Looks more natural but forest and desert mix? Plains would have made so much more sense if they didn't remove it.

I love the lack of water. Anyone who has played Ravenhearst know my feelings on water already :D

All in all a great image i feel.

I think you're right, a much more random dispersal pattern. I approve!

The roads between towns are a bit straight but that's just probably the English showing in me. We tend to build curves into roads intentionally to make drivers pay attention.

I'm the same as you on water. I pretty much removed it from the mixer. :)

Speaking of giving offense I know that some of you feel offended when the news goes out to twitter first. So here's a couple of A17 screenshots that:
A) Have nothing to do with lighting....at all

and

B) Are exclusive to these forums. Twitter followers will have to find their way here for a change...

The second one is a capture of the New Game start menu where you can select the world you wish to play in and name your save. You can see Roboco County there in the window which means this is the map that will load. Navezgane is in the rotation as well as a couple other maps I've already created but not yet explored. You can have multiple different saved games using the same map.

Thankyou for posting a random gen map and part of the start menu for us. :)

I wanted to know did the colors change on the map as well?

It looked like there were only three biomes shown, is that it?

What does the pink/purple color represent?

What does the blue represent? At first it seemed like water but as I looked at the map it seemed to be on top of hills as well.

Noticed that there is splotches of green biome patched throughout the map. Are these the mini biomes that Madmole was talking about?

How does the map look overall? Roads don't look crazy do they?

You said that the game seed was hidden but the game seed appears to be Freaky TSBX. Also you said that it was "absolute truth". What is up with that? ;)

I quite like large bodies of water. It provides an obstacle to navigation which in turn provides an obstacle to survival. I know it's not everyone's preference but there you go. I think large bodies of water may be less of an obstacle now, didn't somebody say that rafts were in?

Yeah, pretty sure it's in Steams TOS that you are buying access to their game library. If you can't remember your Steam password, you cannot play any of the games regardless where you put the files, unless you log into Steam. In order to actually own a copy of any game, you must buy the hard copy.
I'm curious whether steam actually require such "security" when you post your game on their store. It's not like it actually works, it's pretty trivial to get a cracked copy of damn near every game in the steam library from the pirate bay.

I just find them annoying, plus you could just run out into the middle of the lake and basically ignore zombies.
I know that exploit exists, never used it myself though. Part of being a dev is being able to play a game while blindly ignoring broken or unfinished mechanics. :-)

It appears the colors remain the same, could be wrong but there was no indication of change.

There are 3 primary biomes, and it seems like there are patches of burnt forest (purple) in the forest area, and patches of green in desert/snowy areas. The maple forest and plains biomes have been removed as stated a while back. It appears that cities are now considered wastelands, which makes sense contextually.

In regards to the "seed", some people want to name their maps one thing "Genosis' Funland!" for example, but I could use a wacky seed "omgpleasedontspawnlotsofwater", and keep it private, not wanting others to recreate this world I made. Reasons being: public servers can have their difficulty trivialized by being able to grab the seed which is the name of the map, publicly viewable, and look at the entire map on their own. Then, cherry pick a spot where there are lots of towns and a good mix of biomes, and make camp there. Also, takes away from the exploration, you may as well just reveal the entire map and remove discovery all together.

Anyway, thats my take away on that.

Interaction and conversations are always positive.
Really? Verbally abusing people--say, TFP--is "positive"?

If we wasted our time with curvy roads in Texas, you never would make it across the state.

Man i wish I can do that, but as Khaine will probably agree with its hard to ignore for us when there are some who wish to flaunt that exploit as a means of overcoming a challenge we are trying to present.

For me the large water always seemed like wasted real estate. A town or a nice flat field for building can be in that spot. And with water mechanics being an absolute joke there's no need to see huge bodies of it. Now give me flowing water and a raft and ill happily welcome huge rivers and lakes with joy.
