You do realize that outside of this forum people are starting to call this game 7 years to release and different variations of that.
Will take as much time as needed. This is not a popcorn simulator. Sorry for being dissapointed, but some stuff takes time. Unity updates are not excuses, they follow the flow of updating their tools and bring us better stuff. I don`t see anything wrong with this.

You do realize that outside of this forum people are starting to call this game 7 years to release and different variations of that. And honestly I don't blame them it's only a bit over two more years and that will be the actual truth.
They say that in here! It's not really news.

I would have personally jumped ship a long time ago if it were not for the completely superior building system in this game when compared to it's competitors. To me A17 with it's additions and engine improvements is looking good and I have no other big complains about it other than the removal of backwards running because I like to kite dogs doing so but that is a personal preference.
Do you think that many people feel the way you do? TFP does have an excellent, stand-out product. Is it enough that people are willing to wait extra for it?

Which game are you talking about? 7DTD has been using Unity since umm... as long as I can remember. Certainly for several years now.
Fine. Game engine version/revision/edition. You knew EXACTLY what I meant.

I like that a grammatical error was the only thing you could pick from my entire comment.

More building options and more traps is what I personally desire because my games are always about building that impenetrable fortress.
This confuses me, what does it matter if it's "final" or not? Many people complain about that for other alpha games as well. If the developer is adding, changing, fixing, or altering functions, but is completely playable, what does it matter at all what state it is in?

I haven't played for a while, just tried some other games until alpha 17 comes out. Whether it takes another 10 years for it to finish, but is completely playable in all stages of release, I just don't understand why people complain "it's not done yet".

You can still play it. It's not like you gave them 20 bucks and are sitting there saying, 'Jeeze I want to play already, when will it be finished'?

The only real complaint I suppose would be optimization. But while 7dtd is far from optimized it's still completely playable.

Ok people. Let's get all the frustrations out now. Much like you, I want A17 as soon as possible. Here's the reality of the situation, when you code new stuff, old stuff breaks. I was a network administrator for years and oh the headaches with windows and updates and patches. Things break and it's not always an easy fix. There are no magical code fairies to fix it. Kin, Gazz, Alloc, Prime and the rest are all working their arse's off to get the product to us. The team NEVER promises a date because of this, and it wasn't till July that Mad Mole even speculated an approximate release. No matter what TFP does, people will still cry about it. Remember devs are people too, though I picture Kin/Gazz/Alloc/Prime to look like Lt. Cmdr. Data as I think they are actually AI with a hive mind. The fact that this update has taken over a year is a bit disappointing, but at the same time look at what they've done. If you can't appreciate how challenging it is to rework most of the base code to the game, then you need to do a little research and educate yourself on how involved it is. For you car guys it's like taking apart a Ferrari and putting it back together without the Haynes guide, sure you know you're way around the car, but taking it apart and putting it back together doesn't happen overnight. Especially when you add in custom engineered parts (new code).

Roland/Mad Mole:

Imho, I think it would help if you could provide some details on what bugs/kinks are being worked out. Maybe mention a few of the major issues that are being worked on. While we love the game, because why else would we be here, it helps ease the wait if we have an idea of what's going on. We're investors in this product, much like you, we want it to be the best thing since sliced bread, or in MM's case supplements. Our ROI is how good the game will be and how much time we invest to play it and how much fun we'll have doing so. Would it be so bad to give the community a little taste of the progress being made. People tend to be more understanding if they have an idea of what's going on. It's like having your car in the shop for a few days and you just want a progress update. Anything to help ease the tension and frustration. I've always supported TFP on here and on discord when it comes to the time frame of an Alpha release, while not a coder, I understand the process.

Hopefully there can be a happy medium between the devs and the players to help ease the frustrations on both sides.

Location: Cockatoo Victoria... Well there's your problem! I'd be pretty bitter as well if that was my city name, certainly if my name was Victoria! Holy Cow... Cant they get the name changed? Or at least make it illegal to name ANYONE Victoria?
Wow, I am sorry. I hope the rest of your life is fulled with great things, you and the 43 other people that live there.
There is another way to tell him welcome to the forums, but ok :D

I mean it, welcome Oz_Collector, take some time to read around, get used with us and be part of us.

But with the game... you know its just a game right? But I forgive everything, you have suffered enough.
Slow clap

Just talked to the Huenink Brothers and they said it won't be this weekend starting Sept 7 for sure. Joel said 0% chance it will be ready this week.

Rick said it would be "overly optimistic to get it out before the end of the month".

They are 100% fixing bugs and making sure all of the features work with each other. They know that the community wants it and they know that it has been longer than a year. They understand the frustration that is out there but they are not going to rush what they are doing.
Thanks Roland, thats a really helpfull statement (Developers GUESS / ESTIMATION )

I love this forum... Every 2 weeks a developer says no estimates will be given, its done when it's done and then 2 weeks later an estimate is given... and not delivered.... then rinse and repeat. Sometimes I think this forum is a game itself as well XD

Thank you.

Generally I just lurk but felt the need to vent the opinions of the team I play with.

The only reason I even feel enough passion about it to post is that this game may have more potential than any game I have ever played and I'm not sure it isn't being p***ed against the wall right now.

Even when we were waiting for A16 to drop everyone I play with was able to find ways to keep it interesting. Now everyone has stopped logging onto the server I am paying for and some have uninstalled the game entirely (a fair sign they may not return).

I wont be renewing the server subscription when it comes up for renewal.

Since A14 I have spent around 3000 hours ingame, but it is very rare for me to move to another game and then come back. I tend to play only one game at a time and pound the life out of it. I feel like I have unfinished business with this game but cant wait forever.

Understand you fully (got all latest new games and progress is less than 5% per game) This is THE game for most of us, too. Tell your buddies that it is gonna be much better. Try experimenting while a release is..released. We can`t push pimps do their job, but we can help them with understanding. Just a bit is enough. Have fun around.

I know. Hence the triple smile. I was trying to mock Gazz because the horde night fits the description and it has been suggested to make it random many times.

Video! clap clap clap Video!! clap clap clap Video!!!...
Ah ok, my bad. I missed the triple smile. But it did make me wonder about having a game setting in the xml to randomize the day 7 horde value. Would certainly spice things up not knowing which night would be horde night.

Yeah, most people here know TFP are on to something big. Trying to make voxels look good and not lock up a computer is not easy and that is why most other game companies go the easy way of making things just "look" real.

TFP's are still learning some of the do's and don'ts of the fickle world of gamers. They'll do fine, I'm sure.

well well my friends, i have made a HITLER VIDEO, for fun, i share with the comunity for enjoy and have fun, maybe we'll forget the bad news for a few moments :smile-new:
It's only a joke, but i get mad for a few minutes when i read the news from Roland XD and i think, let's transmutate this

It's in English, sorry if there are any bad translation, any question of any expresion, i'm open to it jejeje

The most important part of my vocabulary is incomplete. The only substitution for *** I can think of is "ush" :rapture:

I understand your frustration with friends and server and all, but a delay can't really make a bad game. It might give a bad reputation to TFP as a company, but whatever the potential of the game is, it can only be reached by putting time in it. You may feel TFP take too much time per quality step, but that is outside our control. For us there are only two results possible: Either TFP exchange further development for speedier release or they continue to invest time.

So, you want the potential be fullfilled? Then wait. You want it early, trade quality/features/polish for time.

Now, there are people who don't like the direction the game takes. They actually may have an indirect interest in shortcutting the development. But if you like what TFP is doing, you should (maybe grudingly) give them all the time they want.

Question for the devs or whomever have heard confirmation elsewhere: (@Roland, @Kinyajuu , etc)

It's obvious that map resets are required for the update (with the system and biome changes and all), is there any notion of any of the iterative changes (A17 Experimental, A17, A17.1, etc) will require resets, or just from one major revision to the next? (A18/Beta)

Planning some projects ahead of time, just wanted to have a rough timeline in mind.

Well in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking at this matter in a different way and without fighting and by trying to make it clear, and by considering each and every ones opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say. But hey I like 7 Days to Die!

OK.
I'm sick of paying for a server no one is using.

I dont care what anyone says, the idea of changing game engine so late in development shows absolute contempt for the community.

Anyone who actually leaves this forum bubble knows how ♥♥♥♥ed off people are.

A few months ago it was the odd person bitching about slow development cycles and everyone else patiently waiting.

Well the patience has run out.

It's hard to find anyone outside this forum who has anything positive to say about the decisions made by TFP over the last few months especially.

The idea that the odd, very poorly made video is going to smooth things over shows how completely out of touch certain people are.

Take a look at the Steam stats for the game. The player base is at it's lowest point in two years and I suspect when this months stats come out it will be even worse. And as for the reviews..... They have become a complete indictment on the way TFP operate.

They could have released the game with the game play changes they wanted, we would all already be playing it and discussing what we like or dont like, but instead the majority of the player base is deserting. Then, after A17 was released they could have worked in secret to upgrade the game engine to the latest Unity, released A18 by the end of the year and have everyone raving about quickly we got a new alpha and how good it looks.

I have tried very hard to be patient, but my patience has just run out.
Maybe Early Access isn't for you. I would suggest, in your case, only running servers for games that have been released.
