However from experience a system like that doing all it is doing will be hindered by your network and if you not using a NVME drive (SSDs) are too slow for that much)

Yea why even bother. I mean unless you're running NVMe in RAID0, pfft. Optane is where its at. No point even turning your machine on without optane.

I am honestly surprised when Joel even gave the estimate in the first place as after a15 they had mentioned never making the mistake of giving one in the future again after that chaotic mess.

Could be wrong that might have been a16.

Anyhow, since you have generated a play by play for post and announcements of content do you think something akin to that for development delays that will tac on more then 2 weeks or more may help for the future? Granted I am well aware that will be even more work for you but figured worth throwing it out there.

Please do not discuss release dates in the dev diary. It just devolves into arguments we don't want in this thread. Requests about timelines and commentary about how long it has taken will be moved to this thread where you are welcome to hash it out while still adhering to forum rules. I just moved about 70 posts over.

Um... Roland. How is talking about good humor considered a release date?

Well, a lot of posts quoted others and then were requoted. I just followed the chain and sent them all over. They are still there to be read and commented on. If you feel a post was on topic for A17 and not about release dates just link me to it and I'll bring it back as long as it isn't part of a quote chain that leads back to asking or complaining about release dates.

I received some complaints about how far afield the dev diary was going so that's why it happened.

 
any word on survivor NPCs? or do they go hand and hand with bandits? meaning they too were postponed. I'm talking about the non-trader type of survivor NPC that can actually give a zombie an apocalyptic beat down.

I don't post a lot, but I read the majority of the posts and do the best I can to remember the important stuff... I think it is safe to say there will be NO NPCs outside of traders in A17.

 
@Roland,

It might not be a bad idea to come up with a template consisting of answers to the most frequently asked questions and post the template every couple of pages. I see a lot of questions asked by the community that were answered just a couple of pages back on this thread. They are either trolls or honestly missed the post that answered their question - either way it creates a lot of redundancy.

Just a thought to keep the "map size" loop from repeating or the "are there diggers?" loop from repeating... I think you get the idea. It doesn't have to be as detailed as the first and second posts on the thread, but maybe cover 4-6 of the most frequently asked questions that have already been answered.

You are doing a great job keeping the machine oiled - just hoping to help to make things a bit more streamlined.

They used to have a list of what needs to be done and then strike it off the list, I like that system.

Well I don't know if anyone wants to go down that rabbit hole again... But they did say maybe a two week delay to a streamer. But stuff happens.
