Thank the heavens. This is the way to go. We never needed it before, and it appears as if the Pimps are taking a more hardcore approach in 17 so why make some things more difficult, yet dumb down others? Its a by product of progression. Gamers are getting smarter. The majority of mods out there are upping the stakes by making gameplay more involved and skill based. And with their popularity it only makes sense to adapt some of that as its quickly becoming the standard.
As for backpack space, yeah we may start with a few less squares but bigger picture is we end up with MORE in the end, and that is the part people are just ignoring. Perks are easily editable, open a file and change ONE number. I'd rather have the option that not.

It will be ok people. Lets not gimp systems and content because you refuse to open a file.
1st time i disagree. Hp bars should be optional. Not removed because a forum lifted it pitchforks.

Agree with the rest 😀

My fault my post was vague on it. I dont like them, and I am glad they are not on screen but I DO think its fine if it is optional. We can agree again! :D

Have these items been fixed??? These are as per the 16.4 release. Most of these have been on the list since A16 was released. I know smell is still out....but???

•Onscreen keyboard is only available if you start the game from Steam’s Big Picture Mode

•Smell is not working with the new stealth we will revisit it in a17

•GlobalUV support inhibits anisotropic filtering and it has to be calculated in the shader.

•Farming of crops other than yucca and hops affects performance

•Precipitation and cold temp going through windows, glass blocks, doors, and hatches

•Excessive use of trigger plates may cause servers to lag during hordes.

•Gore block dup

Coughs * VIDEO * Coughs

I can't speak to the new AI and pathing, but if you are referring to A16 dogs, I have to disagree. I have never seen mobs of any kind get lower than 1 block, let alone 50 blocks of stone. They are usually at the surface playing ring around the rosy.
no, Fataal said it for a17

My first instinct was to leave this alone. I have a strong feeling on it but after reading here I think I'm wasting my time, as I think TFP have already made up their minds. But screw it, I going to say it anyway.
I absolutely hate the squeeze being put on skills and perks. I'm a mostly sp guy and this only hurts people going it solo. I'm not the kind of guy that needs all perks and skills maxed, there are lots of perks i don't take. But there are a group of perks I feel we should be able to get, if we work hard enough at it. The solution of just restarting is a really bad one imho. I work too hard, grind too much and put in too much time to be forced to start over because of that group of perks I never got to enjoy.

And don't think I missed that little tidbit about needing to put points to strength just to get bag space we already had in alpha 16. So you're limiting our bag space and requiring, very limited, skill points to get that bag space back? Please let me know if i'm missing something?

Now I'll admit I haven't played alpha 17 obviously but this concern is more than justified based off everything TFP have said.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease, that was proven with the removal of the zombie hp bars. Well I'm squeaking.

Please don't regard this post as hostile. I'm sure I'll love alpha 17 either way. Just voicing my concerns.
I agree with most of what you said here. It does look as though it will hurt people that are solo and both spreading out points and limiting them isn't helping.

On the other hand we have not played it and it might work out. If not we could count on TFP's to tweak it so it is better.

The thing with the back pack could be replaced by simply leveling up for example.

I would like to point out though that the HP bar was (never) intended to stay in the game. The devs have pointed out that it was for testing only.

Um.... TFP does not do things because the forums said so. They do things that THEY decide to do. The HP bars were never even said to be added by tFP. They were seen in a video of internal testing by Joel, people assumed they were going into the game, and Bargate began.

I would absolutely LOVE that. Almost kidn of like PUBG, with better quality backpacks = more slots. add in various clothings that add in slots for inv. gotta balance between temp or inv space
I'd like this, or something like it in 7 Days to Die too, and didn't know PUBG had that kind of system. Kind of reminds me a good deal of how DayZ Standalone managed, or manages inventory space. Its more about the clothes, and while they provide protection against damage and the environment, they also determine inventory capacity. Say, jeans with four slots versus cargo pants with six.

I know both are completely different games, but it'd be a cool system to someday see in this.

I think Roland a few pages back mentioned the idea of a purchase at a trader for more inventory space to simulate a larger backpack. ( Maybe I got that wrong, sorry if so. ) Nice idea though.

Thanks to both Devs and forum mods for keeping us players apprised of what's going on behind the scenes, ( and modders for giving us more to try out while A17 progresses along. )

Well not everyone has time to sit on the forum. I took 9 months off as it would do my head in. I knew nothing about what was going on, i just watch Joel's videos most of the time but seeing it is "close to release" ive been back on here.

"close to release".

To this I would add, blade traps causing severe FPS drops. We've used them for the first time with my group the other day and they are cool as hell, but holy molly does the FPS drop because of it, to the point where it's hard to even reload and aim (this with 16 zombies per player, 4 players, with 16GB of RAM, an Nvidia 970 and an i7 at 2.93Ghz).

I'd also like them to finally fix the hitboxes on some of the grass, there is this one model where the hitbox is completly weird where it is, You have to swing at it from a specific side for the hit to register. Any other side you bascally hit nothing. Minor issue, but one thats annoyed me to no end. Its more of a issue to fix in beta, as they got more important bugs to fry atm. Its just something thats annoyed me since I first got the game back in A 9/10. Its been here since then.
This.

Truth. Even Kinyajuu came on two separate times to say that the HP bars were purely for development work and their plan from the get go was to use them for Bosses exclusively. So nobody needs to feel like they lost the #gate. Plus, as I said it is easy to enable them if you want to try them out.

No! Dont agree with him!

Ya, personally, i would love health bars be an option. Not forced on anyone, esp not in a game like 7 DTD where people want to feel immersed or make it feel less of an RPG.

Lets be honest though, if the health bars are definitely not in the game, it wouldn't bother me too much. Cant be upset about something you never had.

What would solve everything, is just a quick release of A17-E for one week...

THEN everyone would know that, yes, A17 is not ready.

My imaginary bug reports for A17-e if released now:

1) Flying Zombie Attack dogs, while a good counter to gyrocopters, might need an adjustment.

2) Boss Zombies splattering my characters corpse around the room was fine, its when he sits on my backpack with a big grin on his face. Waiting for me to come back and attack him with a stick... I want that to be a bug! :)

You've been peeking in at the s̶e̶a̶n̶c̶e̶s̶ ...uh...team meetings.
A17 might come out faster with a sacrifice. Anyone have a virgin sister or daughter they'd be willing to give for the cause?

You can sacrifice me, long as I become a zombie in the game.
