As I said before, art is not holding up the release of the game. Each programmer is finishing features and fixing bugs. So far today, 16 different programming changes were made.
I currently have 30 bugs/issues assigned to me, about half of which should be fixed before A17e. All the other programmers and designers are in the same boat.
It sounds like your plate is full, godspeed.

Some Findings:
1) I was able to fight dogs from a tree house. I spawned in 25 of them and they did not attack the tree and I killed them all using a crossbow from above.
I also got a report today of issues with bears and tree houses.

But everyone has to share the one boat.
7D2D boat?!

I can verify bears take out trees in 16.4. I used wood frames to climb a tree, removing the lower ones as I climbed. Twenty feet up I started shooting a bear with my crossbow. Instead of running in circles like usual he came straight for the tree I was in and after a few swipes, down went the tree and I became a snack.

was it a zombie bear?

maybe give zombie bears an aggressive AI compared to normal ones if it doesn't have one already. Normal bears circles around your treehouse while you starve to death, zombie bear smashes the tree to smithereens and falcon claws your body in half before you hit the ground.

That's the mini-boat. Once all the bugs are worked out I hear they'll go to work on a duck boat.
Found the super secret testing video of the Duck boat in action.

Seems it still needs some work ;)

I spawned in a bear and a zombie bear and neither one destroyed the tree I was in. Then I spawned in a single zombie and he walked over directly to the tree and hit it about a dozen times and I went down.

Again, I'm not 100% convinced this has to be fixed....maybe vs bears it does so they are not easy button killable but vs dog hordes it isn't necessarily the worst thing in the world if you take the time to set up a tree house nearby just in case the dogs show up...

I agree, Zombies should destroy trees maybe even bears (like they can in the wild) but dogs/wolves should not be able to.

Hey Roland. I wanted to ask.

Will shotguns have an area of effect in Alpha 17? I mean so long as they use shot and not a slug, they should spray in a cone shape that would not also knock back one zombie but the ones on either side of him and hurt all of them. Currently they don't but they used to.

The blunderbuss could have the widest area of effect yet. :) Which could make it a more valuable weapon in the game.

My other question is how well do you interact with the new friendly NPC's in the game? I know they give quest but: Do they help you fight or at least defend themselves?

Are there followers that can help?

Do they stand guard and defend a fort and shoot at zombies if they get too close?

Things like that.

Not Roland obviously. But from what i have seen and read the npcs are still just the traders that now can gove us quests. So unless it is a surprise feature there are no npcs right now as you described.

I do hope that we will get more different npcs later on.
