yes, I mean the optimizations done based on A16.x which results should be improvements for things wo already had in A16.x and now are better in A17. (In my git repositorys I would call them "major fixes")
You're a software developer and you're calling for optimisations during alpha?

You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.

 
i think the best answer is that they knew that 7dtd Had so much memory leak , so basically they reworked the code to help with this problem , its as fataal said, and other performance gains was made by shrinking the world by a tiny bit ,

got it? ... new code,, new life. less memory leak , BTW i dont have lag while searching items , except for huge mods so scratch this

 
Im soooooo sick of 4k.

With this game i don't care about the look that much. As it stands now i think its perfect. After growing up on Atari and Commodore 64 ..... the xbox and ps gen forward haven't a clue how good they have it.

As long as the fps dont randomly stutter etc is my on concern.

Gameplay i can't wait.

 
I'll be looking back at A16 as the last time I survived horde night.
Roland, you like the bow but have you had much of a chance to play with modded guns? If so whats been the funnest set up? Not the most powerful, but most satisfying to shoot.
I've dabbled a bit by giving myself different guns and some mods using the CM. I haven't done it too much because I want to discover these things in the course of a regular game.

 
Roland, is stealth still working in 17 as it is now. Nothing got my heart pumping like when I joined server and it was night. I crouched without any source of light but could see zombies against the skyline running past me (within couple of feet). The only time I was noticed was when one actually ran directly into me... I stood and ran a little ways and crouched again and was no longer hunted. There was puckerage...

the stealth system . omg I love it , its not accurate 100% but its enough for me yeah Roland please confirm . the pic that prime posted during Q&A didnt have the yellow bar, i think
Stealth is working. The yellow bar only appears when you crouch so in Prime's screenshot he probably wasn't crouching.

 
It’s unclear to me what they plan to do with smells. I hope they make a return. I think faatal plans to look at it when he has time.
Stamina is different now and the last time I tried beer I don’t think the buffs were working properly with the new setup. I’ll have to give it another try.
Why did they take out (smells) in the first place?

 
Stealth is working. The yellow bar only appears when you crouch so in Prime's screenshot he probably wasn't crouching.

actually no, the bar can tell the percentage of your stealth like holding torch , candle or light . moving , stopped . hidden > isnt it right like this Roland?

 
@Roland, I got a question:

We all kinda joke at every Alpha, that it's like a whole new game, since so much stuff changes and gets added. Usually for the better...

This time though, it feels like it's more true than ever with all the overhauls being done.

So, does the gameplay also feel very different now compared to past alphas? (Keeping in mind that things can still change, from the build you tried).

 
Personally, I would like for the stealth icon to be removed until the player spends a point to get it back.

As for smell: Hijack the light level system, seeing as it's just a value and not really dealing with actual light levels but just telling the zeds "hey! I see you!". Then attach a value to the smelly foods. Highest value adds to the characters personal light level by that amount when carried.

 
Tree chopping with zombies

Zombies can be both funny and frustrating at the same time.

I was chopping down a tree with my stone ax when a zombie walked right up to me. I didn't even know it was there till it was right on top of me. But it was right next to the tree that I was cutting down.

So I angled my ax slightly and took him out. But the frustrating part was that my ax broke and couldn't finish chopping down the tree and had to make a new one. Grrr….

 
I was asking more about the physical stealth than the gui of it. I wanted to know that if I was crouched, quiet and had no open source of light that zombies within the immediate area wouldn't automatically hone in on me like I was sending out a flare and beating on a drum.

 
Will night vision goggles ever serve the purpose of actually seeing better during the night? And not seeing much at all without them ?

Agreed..nice idea...maybe like a stealth 1 and stealth 2 with points that betters your chance of not being detected.

Heh, with stealth level two they can add a working decibel meter that appears, if they got the sound system kinks worked out that is ;)
