Currently you craft a few vehicle specific parts at workbench, then use those to craft a vehicle at the workbench, which gives you the vehicle as an item you can put on your toolbar. You select it and place it in the world, which becomes the actual vehicle. You cannot pick it back up.
That sounds a bit tacky to me

I’d prefer the placing the chassis on the ground and then going to the workbench and making the parts to put on the vehicle as in similar to the minibike

That way you could decide what parts/upgrades you could place/add to it

Having a “finished” vehicle in your back pack, just don’t feel right

I suspect he is talking about same system as auger and the chainsaw. We will have the option to assemble it i guess in our workbench. So we still would have the option to choose between parts.

There could also be a type of craftable workstation you need to unlock and place on the ground on which you could then build your desired vehicle from unlocked blueprints and the like.

That picture is from me. I was testing Unity 2018.2 and checking the current effectiveness of AI destroy area mode.
I'm glad it was from a test like that, and not just a "this is what the first horde night did" from a play-through. If it were the latter, I'd be seriously worried about new players getting to their first horde night having barricaded a building, getting it utterly trashed, ending up in an endless loop of death-and-respawn, and uninstalling the game in frustration...

Well, that's part of testing, to tweak their destructiveness up/down until it's challenging without being guaranteed death.

I'm curious just how far they'll look for something to break when they switch from player hunting to landscape breakage. Also if they differentiate between player-placed blocks and "natural" features.

Of course there must be a thing to attract the poor zeds. And a driver dressed in a pink dress won`t help at all. General Lee`s horn is the choise ! But you will pay the copyrights for the sound.
i may be taxing my brain here but i got my license in 75 and had already bought the electronic horn mod (played about 20 different tunes) for my car that had the tune to which you are referring to and dukes of hazard was created in 1979. so there may not be a copyright for them on that one.

i remember the boys in school who had there license before me and their cars was definitely playing it before me.

yep i had to go searching because of curiosity... https://duckduckgo.com/?q=dukes+of+hazard&t=ffab&ia=web

I would like to see an additional option to select on death besides the spawn near or on bedroll. Something like skip to morning or something because that happened to me on my very first play through (I was sooooo clueless back then). I didn't uninstall the game obviously, but that would be a nice option for beginners that don't know too much about the game. Be cool for a dead is dead game and a process that auto resets the chunks you influenced and clears your explored areas. As of now I manually delete the map data from my local files and have a copy of my RWG map I use to replace the current one.

Joe, this is actually not bad idea, addind different horn sounds could bring to better experience in MP, imagine the variety.

Wont work on multiplayer servers...maybe SP ones...but I believe in Live and Learn.....or Die and Learn

i agree and thus the challenge for modders after a17 is out..

see if there can be a way to import a midi type of tune so not to have to infringe on any actual copyrights because midis do not have to be perfect matches. :)

Indeed, and we will know who to shoot at if something disturb us.

Oh I wish I were in the land of zombies!

The song is almost 200 years old - I don't think TFP needs to worry about copyright infringement if they were to make it the horn sound like was used in "The Dukes of Hazzard."

You have my vote to make it a vehicle upgrade.

but i see so many bragging about how good they are ... well here it is.. time to break the barrier down and showcase who can do what..

(within the limits of the a17 state of xmls of course (i havent a clue as to what can and cant be achieved)) i and others just want to see who can cut the mustard or who is just talking thru their.... hu uhm yeah you got it :)

you miss the point... pimps are slowly fixing the foundation for modders to do some nice things... everyone needs to stop saying it needs to be a feature... the game needs to be finished so modders can use their imagination and do what they can.

ima thinking what mods pimps add now to what they are doing is the pavement for ideas for community modders. :)

I agree with this concept completely. Would you rather have one game based on a group's rendition of what the game should be? Or have that group's general rendition as a foundation and many mods to choose from. Everyone has a different idea of what surviving the zombie apocalypse should look like so I am thrilled TFP have gone this route. Different strokes for different folks... I just like saying that so had to throw it in there.

Uh, I didn't miss the point :)

I was only talking about copyright concerns if TFP decided to use "Dixie," and I'm all for it - if they want to put in the effort. Even if they don't want to create a specific sound for the horn, I agree that it's a good idea to have the ability to set a horn sound as a mod or customization.

But I'm certainly not demanding they make the General Lee...

you never know... when something like this is showcased then something may spark the pimps into using or getting a fresh ideas.

*** thanks -A- *** i just couldnt think of that name of the tune... :) see what age does.. i just got my eyes examined a few hours ago and it was proven... i am blind in one ear and cant hear out of the other eye. also i wasnt insinuating anything just putting it out there for the newbies who read it wrong and start making hints that the fun pimps should do this and do that.

personally i see a lot being done to add support for modders to hopefully do anything that makes the game memorable... and that benefits the pimps as well.

I too was thinking picking up smaller vehicles and adding back to inventory could be nice.
Not the answer I'd hoped for, but thanks for laying out the whole process. :)

For my two cents, I hope what qualifies as a 'smaller vehicle' that can be picked up is made accessible to modders. :thumb:

Some of the most fun situations I've had in the last couple of Alphas have been when an inexperienced player first joins the server, and we're rushing to get to them before the zombies and the elements do. Yes, you could bring a workbench with you, too, as meganoth and trielkee point out, but that's getting to the point where you might as well build them a base and they can just live there. :p
