Also remember a large portion of the game was re-written for A17 and they updated unity in a big way as well, assuming they don't decide to do this again for some reason in A18, A18 should come much faster as the groundwork is all done already.
Yes, A17 is a massive change to a lot of code, data, art and several Unity updates. A17+ should be smaller quicker refinements.

I assume when they said crafting in Workbench, doesn't mean all RAW material are already collectable, maybe they make it so you have to craft find engine, then craft chasis but instead of Assembling by placing Chasis on road you have to craft it on workbench. But just wondering how we craft a BIG jeep on small workbench, do we need to make a 5x5 Jeep Workbench first ? It will be awesome if we have to do that. 4x4 is worth the extra effort for its benefits.
Currently you craft a few vehicle specific parts at workbench, then use those to craft a vehicle at the workbench, which gives you the vehicle as an item you can put on your toolbar. You select it and place it in the world, which becomes the actual vehicle. You cannot pick it back up.

Since this database sync here at work is taking forever and a half, I'mma just sit here and refresh this thread repeatedly.

The most important question about vehicles, as far as I'm concerned, is carrying capacity. Do we get a little wicker basket for the bicycles? A larger basket for the motorcycle? How about a full-sized storage chest for the 4x4?

There's a 100% chance I'll mod the carrying capacities to be totally ridiculous, because that's how I roll.

2 cents in; I actually really like how the minibike assembly is handled now. Frame, engine, wheels, etc and if you dont have all the parts you can just leave it partially assembled in your yard as a promise for better travel while you continue scavenging. I understand the retooling of the modification system doesn't make this follow the same format, but it would be ideal (and less "silly" to carry a car in your backpack for deployment) if that could be preserved somehow. Not that I am lobbying for delays, mind you. It's time for an update!

In the same boat. Making a build, which takes like 10 mins.

They should all have varying carrying capacities. The UI for inventory slots is being improved, but not by me, so I don't have any gory details.

What I described is what you will probably get for A17. I don't mind the carrying for deployment. No different than carrying tons of rock and wood or all the other nonsense you would never be able to carry.

I also prefer the current minibike assembly system. I know getting stuck in water shouldn't happen anymore, but realistically, I'd expect my character to be able to pick up a bicycle and walk away with it. A 4x4, probably not. Having two different ways of handling vehicles is undoubtedly a tall order with how they're implemented, although maybe bicycles could have the same sort of press and hold E to pick up like forges do?

Database sync: still ongoing. I'm at the stage of this project where I'm questioning why I went into software development at all.

Good catch. That pokes a hole in my theory.
Sorry, wasn't trying to :) . I just found it odd that we are always told not to report bugs if we had any modifications at all and I couldn't see how a horde night could be tested on day one without some "tweaking" going on.

I too was thinking picking up smaller vehicles and adding back to inventory could be nice.
Picture this:

your base is next to a lake. You venture out to scavenge far away cities. You take your bike with and load it on your boat. You cross the lake with the boat and unload your bike on the other side. You keep exploring ...

But morons tend to agree with one another!

I agree ;)

Thought about this when far back in the time water transport was mentioned and .. wondered how difficult would be to put a movable object onto another movable one in a voxel game. Even in GTA there is issues (maybe intentional of course) with being on a movin vehicle and stay on it while its driven around. Not bad idea at all tho.

@faatal, thank you much for the information, as usual we are on a new level of hype. Levels up.

I'd also love a boat. My parents have a canoe and a little electric motor that can be clamped onto it: early game vs. late game boating?

i wondered, what name is jeep going to get when its registered trademark? Which car brand?

Or they can slam it to the floor and call it Ratcar.

And i would like to know if is able second player stand on roof while is "Offroad" moving.
