Well it seems their new team is working great, so maybe A18 come sooner than next 1 yr. They rewrite most code to make these things easy. So once they are done with a17, it might be easy to release a17.1 or 17.2 with quick fix and one or two feature upgrade. Then by time they reach a18 they already have all features added.

Just trying to be optimistic and positive. They are taking time now to make it faster in future.
With talk about DLC's I'm not sure what to expect after this alpha.

On the one hand. Both sides give new content which is what we want. But on the other hand in my opinion... This is yet again a new take on a lot of stuff. Just after mining 1.0 2.0 3.0 etc etc. (Perlycavegate) So I'll doubt it will be final, which means more alphas.

At the same time at one point they have to choose something and stick with it. And build upon that foundation. But the game since it just gotten rebooted from the ground again. Is probably still far away from reaching gold.

If the info is not correct we can't really help that. But it has been said that we may only see one or 2 more alphas before it goes beta. I believe they said they are hoping to go beta by the end of A18 or something. This was said while we been waiting for A17. So if they are correct then we don't have to much longer before gold.

As far as how long between A17 and A18 I can't say. I believe it was also said that the next alpha could take about a year also. But really who knows, personally don't bother me I kinda wish it stay alpha forever lol. But I know it can't and really would like to see it come to a end and see what other games they have thought out to work on next.

 
I really don't know if they make a Advance crafting table, but what I am asking is Assembly room for vehicle. and maybe for gun too.

well perhaps you could only do it in a garage like pass and gas? since they love fallout so much, they can base it off the power armor stands, a hydrolic lift as the interface, but first you must find a working one or repair a broken one?

I am not that excited on graphics, on my 830M graphics card I still has to play with low quality graphics to keep up the FPS, so all I am concern is game play improvements. Yes, for those who can render good graphics on their computer it is great looking stuff.

 
yeah this will be a problem because after seeing this graphics i am really scared about the performance and the optimisations of the game and the FPS problems that the game is facing right now

but i heard that A17 is Beta and i heard there is good optimisations with the unity 2018.2 so let hope for the best because i have the reccomanded build for 7 days to die and i wish i can play it with high settings

 
Up until now, you had one workaround to accommodate multiple people with vehicles at once. Build a minibike, and in its storage put the parts to assemble a second minibike. In this way, you can drive to a stranded teammate, build a bike for them on site, and neither of you have to walk home.

Worse in the sense of player safety net, yes. Worse game play not neccessarily. In a survival game you should not always have easy solutions if the worst happens. Provided he didn't lose the minibike because of bugs but because of in-game calamity it is just something you either have to make preparations for (outlying bases with workbench and material) or deal with the consequences (run or have a teammate also bring a workbench).

And the time seems to be near when losing the minibike because of bugs isn't acceptable anymore.

Soon they tell us to imagine the Gameplay and to feel it in our Minds :) Or dive in the sourcecode and mod the new features ourselfs, because it is so much more interactive and modern and we are all professional Programmers here, right ? :)

Obviously. If you squint a little bit, you can maybe imagine that some of the zombies are bandits too! Kickstarter goal completed, I'd say!

 
It is sad that things almost done for A17, but not quite, are postponed to A18. Content that could be easily added in A17.X a few weeks or months after A17 exp, is instead pushed back for more than a year.
Examples:

Gyrocopter: almost done, but delayed more than a year,

Multipassenger vehicles: almost done, but delayed for more than a year.

It's there, you can almost touch it, but not quite yet.
If the gyrocopter model etc is in the game, you can bet the modders will find some way to enable it even if it is a bit wonky.

 
Gyro copter is not confirmed for a17 (but can make it if they figure it out). As we already see it's video few months back it is almost ready, but Fun Pimps want to finish other things and make proper flying environment before they release it. Modders can however make it active like they do for Bandits or behemoth in a16.

Also remember a large portion of the game was re-written for A17 and they updated unity in a big way as well, assuming they don't decide to do this again for some reason in A18, A18 should come much faster as the groundwork is all done already.

Yeah this is sort of what I been saying, they keep changing how the game is played and such and thus have to rebalance bascally everything over again, its what I primarally blame for how long between alpha's. I really hope they stick with A17 as a base finally and build on it, insted of rip it all apart and re-do it yet again in A18.

I think Roland said that the next cycle will be shorter. This one was heavy under the hood, but the next one will be easier to plug in the next round of features. (Who knows, though, right?)

I'm surprised that nobody took from this tweet that a gameplay video is imminent. Was MM just testing horde night? Is it more likely that MM thought he would try the ranger base for his gameplay horde night, and he demonstrates how poorly that went?

Maybe y'all just didn't want to get your hopes up by verbalizing the obvious. I think we soon will see how that pile of rubble came to be there.

I think you nailed it. Rebuilding the game from the ground up is very time consuming I'm sure. I can't imagine they are going to rebuild it again later after investing a year into the new build. I think future updates will come quick with the fresh groundwork. They may not do much more heavy adding past A17 if all the modders have to do is add new quests/guns/skins/custom POI. Mod it til it breaks.

 
I have a question. Has anyone heard if there might be improved lighting in A17?

Let's be perfectly honest here; the game is largely secondary to the forum posters with whinging in the forums being first.

I mean, we've all played a couple thousand hours already, right?

yeah, who knows? even they don't seem to know.. since I heard this 'it will be shorter' for more than one alpha now XD
