I just flew it around the other day checking if it still works and it did. I'd say it is 70% done. It could use some handling adjustments, but add a recipe and it should be in A18.
Coming up: ten pages debating what the recipe should be. ;)

In the world folders Nav and Random both have prefabs.xml. in Nav we are able to place prefabs at

specific locations creating a customized visual layout. Will this be incorporated or be able to be

incorporated in the future releases?

In RWG Ive learned from all my previously answered questions, how to increase probability. But

my idea is If this ability is available, then it not only allows for just basic placement of specific

POIs and custom prefabs. It also acts as an extension for custom world design.

Example Rwg Terrain gen, to me is perfect for how I like to play scenarios. In RWG if all Prefab

groups are blocked out. There is still a quickly generated, Lower resource load, Beautiful world to

explore. Rendering it in the previewer, and loading up is extremely expeditious. With the ability of

the prefab coordinate call added, not only can a customized landscape be sculpted but also a complete

city layout.

If not, Im still just as satisfied with how the game has progressed. If ability is there, and I just haven't

figured it out yet just point me to tutorial.

I'd really like to know more about quests, if anyone can share more information on them. When I actually sit down to do some mod planning & writing, I realize I can only do so much without knowing the structure and what's accessible...

You're asking about experimental and untested features in an alpha that hasn't been released yet? Were you really expecting an answer?
Not expecting I suppose, but hoping. With the Alpha in major feature freeze, my hope is the system design for quests has firmed up. There was a conversation elsewhere about releasing the data files early for modders, and on reflection I realized that as a modder, it's quests I most want a handle on as soon as possible.

Adapting mods to A17 will be mostly merging in changes, so there's nothing to do ahead of time. But in the time until A17E drops, we can be writing/designing quests. Knowing the possibilities beforehand would mean less re-writing later. They're unlikely to change the scope of quests between A17E and the last point release of A17.

Not everyone has seen it. It became evident on the Steam forums that a lot of players haven't even been aware of Alpha 17. If all you do is launch the game from Steam, and the only source of news is your Steam library page, then you hadn't heard any news since 16.4 was released last October. In other words, before Monday that news page was 9 months behind on news.

 
When can you remove the bellows from the forge you crafted? When can you remove the hammer from the workbench you crafted? When can you remove the stone from the stone axe you crafted?
You can’t but those items are still craftable. It will be same for vehicles— and guns I believe. You craft them out of materials and then it is a whole item that cannot be broken down into component parts again just like everything else in the game that is crafted.

Things that used to be “assembled” will now be crafted like everything else. In addition you can add mods to them. :)


I have to admit, I'm a little apprehensive about no longer assembling the vehicles and crafting them instead. I hope I'm wrong but, it just feels like we're losing something with this change.
You may be right, Cole. It depends if you can pick up a vehicle once it's been crafted.

Up until now, you had one workaround to accommodate multiple people with vehicles at once. Build a minibike, and in its storage put the parts to assemble a second minibike. In this way, you can drive to a stranded teammate, build a bike for them on site, and neither of you have to walk home.

In Alpha 17, with vehicles that can't be disassembled, this will no longer work. I thought this would be no problem with multiple passenger vehicles... but it turns out we aren't getting those. I'm sure you'll have to craft vehicles at some kind of station, so you won't be able to craft a 4x4 in the middle of nowhere, either. With no way to craft it or assemble it in the field, either the game will allow you to pick up a whole 4x4 and put it in your backpack... or one of you is walking home. I hate to say it, but it seems likely Alpha 17 will be objectively worse than Alpha 16 on this front. :(

It would be a nice feature just to allow server admins to spawn a POI in a desired location, for having a community center for players or other special locations they may want.

 
Hello all just wanted to know if the gyro copter is confirmed or not? vid of it in first post but couldnt see it on the list in the second post and its also not in the dropped feature list???

 
Yeah there was a thread on Steam the other day that was a little bit rude and went downhill from there, but had a pretty good point buried in it. Most people aren't going to go to the effort to find a place like this... hell most even can't be bothered to read stickied FAQ threads. What they see is they click on 7 Days and they see no news updates in "like a year" so they just think that nothing is happening.

I was hoping that bit wouldn't have got completely lost in the shuffle and I'm glad it didn't. It's a good thing to have a "we're still here" news blurb from the devs once in a while, especially for an early access game that you hope will eventually be finished.

I've been guilty of making similar assumptions when flipping through other games in my list at times, but if I was actually concerned about it my first reaction probably wouldn't be to make a "ZOMG this game is dead AMIRITE??" thread in the forums about it without looking further(or even looking at the other threads in the forum).

Who knows, maybe you can throw a minibike in the back of the Jee.. aaahhh 4X4. On a side note, I think they should add "Jeep Stuff" to the game (NeebsGaming plug).

Currently, vehicles are crafted at a workbench.

 
Yeah just check the discussion page on steam and it shows the majority of Steam users don't follow these fourms or the twitters/youtube channels. They are constantly asking if the games been abandon since they haven't seen anything posted on Steam.
Wait a sec... there's a steam discussion page? And people actually pay attention to it? These same people don't take a (milli)second to find real info beyond that? And to top it off twit & utube aren't reliable on the latest news about something?? I don't believe it!! >>sarcasm alert<<

BTW... steam user here... never paid any attention to the discussions there. Prefer to get the news from the source, like here. Just saying...
