I'm just hoping it's been changed so that it's possible to dry out in the snow biome now, so it's actually possible to live there without having to go on a trip every time it snows.
I'm not sure if it's still correct but zombies used to spawn from the direction of the nearest available town. But he's not asking for more zombies. He's asking for zombies to come from different directions, to make fighting them more interesting. As it is, the wandering horde is currently a buffet line of free xp. And you may not necessarily be next to your base when it happens. I'm usually out looting when they zero in on me. There usually are extras hanging around in the chunk, because I don't stop to kill every single zombie I see. I would never get anywhere if I did that.
Have you ever tried to camp in the snow? It's impossible to get dry.I'm just hoping it's been changed so that it's possible to dry out in the snow biome now, so it's actually possible to live there without having to go on a trip every time it snows.
but most... or at least a lot of people spend 70% of their time away from base.I'm not sure if it's still correct but zombies used to spawn from the direction of the nearest available town.
If you have zombies coming from all directions the damage they cause will be spread along the defences of your base instead of concentrated from a single direction. You'll make the horde night far easier when people are already complaining that it's too easy.

How would you determine if a player is in their base or not? That's an easy difference for the human brain which is good at detecting patterns and shapes but impossible for your average home PC. There's no way for the computer to tell whether it should spawn from a single direction or multiple directions.but most... or at least a lot of people spend 70% of their time away from base.We are talking about in cities... while out looting... they should come from every direction... not in your base.
I don't tend to live in the snow biome, I'm a temperate forest dweller. Is there a bug with snow that doesn't happen with rain? Building a house and sitting next to a fire will keep you dry in the rain as it should with snow.True enough, but out here in snow country, we have these things called "houses." You see, you build walls around an area, put a roof over it and a floor under it, maybe a source of heat. Miraculously, after going outside and getting wet in the winter, we manage to dry off after coming back into this "house," given some time. I have yet to freeze to death IRL for lack of traveling south to find a land with no snow. I don't believe anyone I know has, either. I do sometimes manage to get wet outside even when it isn't snowing, but first things first.![]()
Apparently this advanced technology hasn't survived the zombie apocalypse, unfortunately.
He's not talking about horde night. He's talking about random wandering hordes.I'm not sure if it's still correct but zombies used to spawn from the direction of the nearest available town.

Fair point. Randomizing both options would be better from a gameplay perspective. It might look a bit weird to have zombies converge at a point several metres away from you and then wander past each other. He's not talking about horde night. He's talking about random wandering hordes.
Try playing with zombies always run.As it is, the wandering horde is currently a buffet line of free xp.
That is what I was getting at. To Gronk's point - even if the zombies in the vicinity reduced the amount in the horde by 3-4, it would still be an added challenge. Imagine, horde heading your direction so you ready your weapon and as you are mowing down the horde, a biker zombie and a farmer start nailing you in the head from behind. You would have to change strategy for how to deal with those pesky, random hordes.uhhh... that wasnt the point... the zombies are spawned inside the chunk as well... and its not about more its about direction...what would be more awesome? a congaline just slowly waddling across... or every zombie in the vacinity suddenly moving towards your current direction?
I was more referring to while you are out scavanging, exploring, etc. It would be an added punishment for those who do not clear the area before getting comfortable. In the xml the variable is called "MaxAlive" if memory serves. All zombies, whether part of the horde or not, are likely to contribute to the number of zombies alive. Once the shooting starts I'm pretty sure all other zombies in the area will be coming for you anyway.
Who leaves zombies alive near their base?
This would be awesome. Maybe have both as a random/mix option. Sometimes you get a conga line; sometimes you are surrounded; sometimes there is a conga line AND you are surrounded (just a smaller grouped horde). Not sure how hard that would be to add into the code, but it sounds like all of the mechanics are already implemented in other ways. If not A17, mod option?Screamer hordes spawn in a circle around you and move inward. That's why you can sometimes get spawns inside your base if the circumference of that circle around you intersects with your base when the screamers do their summoning spell. I wonder if the spawning rules for screamer hordes vs wandering hordes are visible and the screamer horde rules could be duplicated for wandering hordes.
Agreed, the idea of a wondering horde is executed beautifully by definition in this game.wandering horde are doing what they are suppose to do... spawn at random locations at random times BUT... a horde is a group thus breaking these brainless travelers up so they can spawn at all different compass points defeats the Wandering Horde aspect.... definition: A large group or crowd; a swarm: a horde of mosquitoes. (https://duckduckgo.com/?q=definition+of+horde&t=ffab&ia=definition).
i think what he wants and understandable is he wants them spawned all in different areas instead of together... again as i said, they are suppose to be in groups... same as the dog packs... if they each spawned in different locations, it wouldnt be a pack.
@faatal thank you for the conformation and thank you every one who responded, its vary much appreciated.Just passengers. The 4x4 is functioning just as well as the minibike, bicycle and motorcycle.
grats... i have 2 4k 27" LED monitors on my gtx 1080 amp extreme. one day i hope to get the 1080 ti.I just purchased a 4k monitor I can't wait to see what A17 looks like on it.
I got the 1080ti so I could play 7 days and a few other games that caught my eye, aswell as any future games.grats... i have 2 4k 27" LED monitors on my gtx 1080 amp extreme. one day i hope to get the 1080 ti.
thats the game with computers... you are always needing to upgrade something. i just put liquid cooler on my r7 so it sets around 40-45C in game and idle at 27C. even with my 1080 i can handle pretty much all games.. but 1080 ti is much better for doing a 4k monitor in gaming.I got the 1080ti so I could play 7 days and a few other games that caught my eye, aswell as any future games.
Now my cpu heats up too fast if I even try to stress the gpu, even with liquid cooling. Now I want a better cpu. It'll always be something.
