Maybe have a ‘brutal’ mode (or mod) with xp awarded for looting and map reveal, silent takedowns of zeds with a failed takedown resulting in more zeds being attracted to the noise.

Couple that with a single life (dead is dead) and you’d keep the survivalists happy I’d think.

True.A realistic zombie would do a lot of lieing on the ground, maybe twitching.

In rare cases it would... no, it really would just lie there.
7 days to lie? Yeah I can’t see that in the top 10 on steam lol

I realistic zombie, would not exists ;D

rotten muscles cannot move... brain without oxygen and blood flowing would not work

moreover, supposing that zombies feed only on humans, after a few weeks of not eating they would be out of energy. The best strategy for survival would be to just wait a month or so... how many animals can survive this long without food?

Edit:

I assumed that there is not blood flow in zombies. Otherwise they would be subject to the same problem as humans: bleeding to death. Cut them an arm off and they'll be dead.

But maybe we will get to the point of horde nights having a "boss stage" where you get cool loot if you have been killing the "trash mobs" before it and got the boss to spawn.

That would be incentive to kill zombies - regardless of XP and regardless of whether you use traps or a more hands-on approach to do it.
That IS a great idea! Make those boss zombies drop something you need for late game success:

-Jeep plans.

-Gyro copter plans.

-Any tier 6 item, legendary item possible past day 70.

The only way you will get them in SP.

Edit: Dang Gazz, you made horde night great again! MHNGA!

So how do we get the jeep? The motorbike?

Build it from parts, like the minibike? Buy it from a trader? Find it? Craft it ourselves with only forged iron, plastic and wood (like guns)?

It's a good thing there's xp for killing zombies, so everyone in a group can level up by doing their specific group role, be it a builder, craftsman or a hunter.

They could maybe add some challenge to the hunting/killing part by increasing the damage zombies deal to a player (would work well with the new run'n'melee zombies for A17), and I don't mean those zombie sponges with increased difficulty level, although they could maybe scale the damage with the difficulty level.

Imo, as it is now, the zombies aren't a real threat outside the blood moon horde. If one catches you off guard, the consequences should be harsh, as should be the case if you get infected.

The current infection mechanic is pretty tame and doesn't have real consequences (ok, it does, but it gives you too much time to cure it). The infection should be more devastating and not so easily curable, and should require more work to cure it than it does now. Maybe then players would think twice before engaging zombies for xp.

My guess is there is only one in each game and its at the end of a long quest chain.

One thing I would like to eventually see is a horde that targeted the player on their seventh night rather than the server. It would only focus on the characters of players who had been playing actively but wouldn't target the players who just logged in a couple times so far unless they had the misfortune of being near one who had been playing long enough.

It would also help sort out people who log out just before the blood moon. It would still be waiting for them when they logged back in. It wouldn't impact single player at all (since their time would be the time overall) but I would find it much more fun on servers with mixed user activity.

Though it might lead to players being banished to the 7 day base so everyone one else could avoid it or give those who want it more if they tag along. A fluff reason might be that the latent infection everyone has flares up and attracts the Z's every so often (and the player gets a red film over their eyes and hears voices/screams).

Anyway, just a wishful idea for multiplayer from me. Maybe not something for A17, but perhaps eventually.

One for each player in MP. But yeah, this would be a good mechanic. Gives you a reason to do quests as well.

I've experienced people ducking out to avoid horde night. I've even experienced everybody ducking out, and then it nearly kills the server for good, because nobody wants to join when it'll be 21:45 and they'll have no time to prepare. So I can understand the motivation behind your idea.

But if everyone had their own horde night schedule, it sounds like it would be tedious for those that want to fight hordes together, which is the main reason for playing coop in the first place. They'd have to enforce a strict playing schedule to not drift out of sync, or else make up hours playing by themselves to get back in sync... it would feel like work. :grey:

New to the forum

Hello everyone my names William this is my first post I recently got 7 days to die for PS4 I have a few questions how much better is the console version? When is the PS4 gonna get some updates? If I start a map when the update comes will I need to start again?

Aye, almost killed our server because hordes were a "hassle". That's the major flaw. And then the few people who do want to fight hordes get 3 hordes during 2 logins. So to speak.

Horde // repair / another horde / another repair. I literally had this a while back. That's why I think the horde system as it is, is very flawed and outdated. I would ironically call it 7daystorepair. But I literally had only 30 minutes until next horde :')

That's correct. Their is currently no motivation to fight a night horde and it will not be that hard to avoid one ether.

Gazz's last post suggested a compromise where if you kill enough of the night horde, a boss will appear that has a special drop.

It would have to be better than any other boss zombie to be worth the expenditure of all the ammo and repairing required. I suggested they were the only drop for tier 6 items as well as jeep and gyro copter plans.
