Maybe the pimps could create a cut scene where it shows several zombies gathering around a touching a black obelisk and afterwards they suddenly start climbing ladders.

Immersion restored.

They should add a loud fart noise. It’s The Fun Pimps. Eating chili and pet food could fuel it up. Put another bar on the screen. Woot!
...er...Toot!
I realy could think of several other things that would be fun, before i even get close to laugh about farts...clowzombies that honk when you hit them with a club... thats classic fun ^^

Well I don't think zombie should do anything that is possible for brainless entity, jumping to catch ladder is more of brainy stuff. One can argue that AI is too, but jumping to catch is more of active brain activity and finding door to enter is subconusious brain activity. So nope that seems too intelligent for zombie action.
Morning Glory vines beg to differ:

If even a plant is able to swing itself around until it finds suitable support to start climbing, I don't see why zombies would not be able to flail their hands up at you and grab a ladder if they come in contact with one.

Not to mention that when you break the bottom block of a ladder, the rest of the ladder is still at chest height, so it's not even "jumping", it's just preventing an exploit.

Alpha17 : A zombie odyssey

Dah, dah, dah.... dahhh dahhhhh..boom-boom boom-boom boom-boom. ©

(later) Climbing up the ladder and trying to open the hatch you hear....

"I'm sorry Roland, I'm afraid you can't do that."

Building on what Crater Creator said about ladders, I feel like rope ladders could be a thing. Vines are already a thing for A17, and doors, hatches, and drawbridges have been a thing for a while. I don't entirely understand the interaction behaviour, but judging from what's in the game I don't think it would take much effort to make a retractable rope ladder where the physical mesh folds up into itself when interacted with, while the rendered mesh would actually be two separate shapes. One like the regular ladders already in the game, and the other that is basically a retexture of the wooden/flagstone/cobblestone/etc. pole.

Except that is not how the code works. Entities that move on ladders just slide on them. Jumping would simply attach the zombie to the ladder like a player does.
While your writing the code for distracting zombies, you might want to add in things that the player can throw. Like rocks and even turds.

So far throwing these has no effect in the game, even if you hit the zombie in the head with them.

Sound: distracting them

If hit:

Rock- could knock them about and even kill them if there health is low enough

Turds- could stun them and may blind them and block there since of smell, if hit in the head. Also makes them smell worse.

You can´t run, you can´t hide,

It´s horde night, time to fight!

You got a ladder, oh thats fine,

but it won´t protect you from Z or my ryhme.

no place save for you to cry,

It´s the seventh day, time to die!

Safe way into base: ramp. drawbridge. done.
just don't leave the bridge DOWN. This ain't the toilet seat.

(quite the reverse actually)

heh.
instead of going 1 drawbridge just make 2. Make the first one horizontally. and the second one vertically. 100% fail proof.

EDIT: If you use 3 bridges it's entirely failproof , you can even let the first horizontal bridge down to allow zombies to jump up and fall off again.

40years later, when me and my friends are old, we will get a notification: 7 day to die is out. and we will have a good laugh.

Btw. I want the Zombies to follow my path, so i can set up traps and stuff...

try to climb the ladder with a Bladetrap on top of it.

40 years later we get a notification: Mikee has said something constructive or somewhere close to funny instead of constantly trolling a forum just to bash the devs
