All I'm saying is a story mode would have added some value to the game.
Nope. I have ZERO interest in stories. Especially in this game. Quests are a means to get stuff like xp or maybe legendaries or get tips on things. Thats about it for me.

You said before that the RWG changes meant very little to you and you saw no value in it. You are right. For YOU. For ME stories are a waste of time in this game and the RWG changes SAVED this game for me.

But that's the beauty we are BOTH right. It is all our opinion. And we all know what they say about opinions.

The Fun Pimps do have their own story which I'm sure they will get to before too long. And the fact they are adding Bandits and the game uses casino chips as it's form currency means that the story is already developing.

You arent both right. Story sucks 😁 He can read a book or watch a movie if he wants a story. If he wants a sandbox survival game he can play 7 Days To Die.

Well, I think it's safe to say most gamers does, and most especially RPG players. New players usually try games in solo, and just follow the main quest you get set on from the start. That sure is how I started playing 7 Days, except it was only a tutorial, but now the quest is leading you to the trader. Keep in mind that's the first impression most players will get from the game, so it might as well be there and be interesting.

Well I didn't say no value since I do play RWG also, but then again I don't think that's the first thing most players will be doing and a vital feature to the game. I think it's also safe to say an incomplete main quest is much more noticeable right away.

The thing is it looks far from being done and by the sound of it, won't be in the beta version either. Now if they prove me wrong by adding most of it in just a couple of alphas, I'd be very glad to see that.

If you had any idea how much the game has changed, how much they've added, since earlier versions then you'd ♥♥♥♥ yourself.

Regardless of which 4 letter word you used, it would still likely offer a solid future in the world of porn... or politics. Possibly both.

Exactly. I couldnt care at all about the story in this game.
My personal opinion:

Being a player of the game for a year before working on it, I can say I never wanted a story. I ignored those weird notes. Didn't want to visit traders even though my daughter was always wanting to go sell stuff. I just didn't see the point. I love to survive in the wilderness against the odds while scavenging and building my fortress. Skilling up to become a zombie killing machine. Making decoy trap bases to survive blood moons. That is the game for me. Don't need no stinking NPCs in my way. Occasional bandit to kill and loot? Sure.

Story is great for people that want that. Sandbox for those who just want to build/find/destroy. Hopefully the game can cater to many styles.

I already posted that I watched videos of every previous versions, comparing them all. But it's still meaningless to me, since I started playing on A14.

The real story is now Duke Nukem came to rule in Navezgane.
Well even Duke Nukem 3D had some storyline haha.

So I can't play an RPG for my story fix instead? Funny thing is, I did play hundreads of hours of it without questing at all. All I've been saying is the main quest is a main feature in an RPG game, and 7 Days is mostly an action RPG.

You sure can play rpg for story. Thousands of them. But apparently, just not this one.

This game might not be for u man, seriously consider that.. and just play countless other story driven games if u like those.

Well you see, I like both so if the game can indeed cater to both styles it will be amazing because it truly is a unique blend and has the potential to satisfy a ton of gamers. According to the Steam sales it already does even seeming quite far from finished as of A16, but once finished it sure could be the best zombie game ever made.

Don't get me wrong. It only seems to me the game is not nearly finished and ready to get into beta yet. My opinion might change after playing A17 since you guys put so much work into it like MM said. I'm not trying to trash the game at all, just concerned developement might end too soon.

...yet. I am definitely looking towards to the story they are working on.

There are so many great games that don't have or don't need a story behind it. However, here is seven days to die story. You're tired , and I mean really tired, that you fall asleep somewhere outside in the middle of nowhere. When you wake up again, it's to the sound of a harmonious chime, the sun is very bright before your eyes adjust, and the world has zombies in it.
Now survive!
Yeah yeah, you think this is the story. Until that black guy in trendy black clothes asks you if you want the red or the blue pill.

Good for u. Just dont set yourself up for disappointment. Its not going to be a witcher 3 type story here... might only be a bit of backstory.

The less story the better in my opinion. Id rather them spend time and money on things I will enjoy over and over. Not a once and done story.

Exactly! No gyrocopters or tanks or .....survive or death...KISS mentality always works.

Once fancy ♥♥♥♥ and magic buffs and stuff get in...games suck ass.

MTFGA...

Coughs *VIDEO*Coughs

7 Days is mostly an action RPG.
I think that statement sums up perfectly where your argument goes off the rails. 7dtd is not mostly an action RPG. It is mostly a sandbox game with a few RPG elements in it. It is a blending of different genres and that is it's strength, the blending. A blend will NOT have all elements of each genre included. Yes there will be a story mode, it will be in the set map of Navezgane and not in the Random Gen worlds where the majority of players play.

Just depends on how you balance it. For example, if the gyro was fairly cheap to slap together, gave me a quick look around, started to fall apart and I crashed in some new area, where I could do some quick looting and run back home, that would work for me. Basically it would be a disposable scouting machine.

Gryo is fairly hard to fly now. Be easy to make it a real trick to fly. Anything deemed OP can be gimped to make it just reasonably useful for what it costs to make.

Forget story mode, just make the world have dynamic factions and events.

You do stuff and the world changes as a result. Like killing lots of a faction makes them hate you etc

I already said I'm not expecting something of the scale the Bethesda games has.

And I already said I'm not expecting everything from every genres it in. While I certainly do agree the blending is the strength of the game, it mostly feels like Fallout or even Skyrim for the most part, which is obviously intended. Yes, there will be a story with a main quest going through it. Yes, you will slay enemies with weapons and level up to unlock new skills. Yes, I've done all that already in Skyrim.

Forget story mode, just make the world have dynamic factions and events.
I honestly don't get it with all the people saying forget the story, and the traders and every major features of the kind just because they don't care for it. People keep telling me to go play some other RPG if I want a story. Well then, if you only want to mine and craft why don't you guys just play Minecraft? Players WILL care to quest around Navezgane just like they do in Fallout and Skyrim.

Sooooo...now that we've discussed story, what else is there to discuss? Are the block physics worked on at all? As in structural Integrity stuff? And I suppose that includes zombies not being able to knock down trees. But the initial question really revolves around complicated structures not falling even though all support pillars have been destroyed.

I took it as a joke, but honestly? I wouldn't care if it wasn't. Because it doesn't matter; you're absolutely right, it has to go beta at some point, and they've said numerous times they're willing to push features to post-gold, and no matter what there will be an end point. <shrug>
It's been fun, it's been unfun, it is what it is.

@deadmole: I want to clarify, my "I laughed" wasn't from what you said, it was from what MM said that you referring to about a joke. I took it as one, but hey, I like to have fun. =)
The inference behind pushing 7D2D "Part 1" to gold is good news as MM doesn't plan to quit.

They want to expand 7D2D into a part 2 after flushing out a plot OR while they push out some DLC's and finishing touches for 7D2D they want to use all they have learned and make something even more amazing!

I'm positive its all good because I believe Joel is no quitter.
