A17 is still in development is it not? Also, drop the tone, there is no need for passive aggressive jabs at TFP, what you call coddling we call exposing more people to our game.
Hardcode it with antitamper protection ;)

Cheers

I think the UI should be built into the world.

Your hitpoints should be displayed on the front of higashi tower. Stand on the correct spot and you will see it top left. It even is customizable, turn 30 degrees and it is top right.

Your hunger stat should be called out by Freitag, your faithful servant, every 10 seconds. He should also tell you where your silver tableware is if asked nicely.

The time should be displayed on a craftable cobblestone block. Build your base the right way and you'll always know the time

Thanks for this statement.

It's amazing what people can deduce when they haven't even tried it.

You may not like what you see, but you dont really know how its gonna feel until you try it.

Oh, and could you change the hardest difficulty to be named: Heman?

That will satisfy all the players going: "I play on hardest, look at me I'm a bad ass" :p

Totally agree!

In that case should it not be either:

1. Tony Stark

or

2. Narcissist

:D

Why though. We have NEVER needed this before? Now all of a sudden zombies need to show damage? I keep hearing "dont mind the bars they are just in here for devs to work on stuff" but yet we KEEP seeing them. I mean if they are going in, nows probably a good time to confirm so I can make plans to remove their coddling nature.
I honestly don't like HP bars either but I'm up for it because it takes a ridiculous amount of damage to take out a single zombie, having HP bars is very helpful.

The HP bars will be great for testing and experimenting. For example, figuring out which weapons/items work best on radiated zombies. But not so great for regular playing.

Given the amount of fun we've had politely discussing the pro's and cons of HP bars I honestly doubt the first zombie you see when you start a new game will have a great big banner above its head.

At this point the only reason TFP have to leave HP bars as standard for every single zombie would be to annoy Roland in an epic troll. While this is a worthy goal I would be very surprised if HP bars only turned up against incredibly tough zombies, the sort of one-off thing you'd stick at the end of a quest.

If you're seeing a game during its development are you at all surprised to see scaffolding?

I like the health bar makes it a bit easier to tell if your close to killing the zombie or need to run because it still has tons of life and your low on ammo :cocksure:

I see health bars as something akin to Brussel sprouts.

They don't look all that appetising but you are told that they are good for you and you should at least try them.

Who knows you might even like them.

So you try them...

Your face screws up in the effort to somehow process the taste of these evil things.

You spit them out and vow never to go near them again.

;)

Well thing is, we really DON'T know what the "end product" will be; I'm assuming they're not staying, some are assuming they are, but the end will likely be something in the middle, although I've no clue what the middle of "on" and "off" is. =)

Now, the REAL question is, when they implement "play as a zombie", will we the player(zombie) be able to see the health of the blocks... :)

Don't get me wrong mate, I know that anything we see in the videos is just WIP and not much more than a sneak peek at what MAY be coming.

But... I just can't resist stirring the pot a bit. ;)

Much like poking Roland with a stick, it causes much mirth and a little consternation but in the end it's all just harmless fun.

agreed. I would love it if everything on the HUD was enabled by either a perk or finding or crafting an item (compass/watch),
Quick Draw (Agility): Enables the Hotbar

Enemy Awareness (Perception): Enables the enemy HP bars

Mindfulness (Perception); Enables Stamina and Health and XP Bars

Situational Awareness (Perception): Enables Stealth Bar

Absolute Direction (Perception): Enables Icons on the Compass

Engineering (Intellect): Enables HP bars on blocks

stuff like this for example
Don't care for this idea at all.

I dont mind the HP bar but the amount of room it takes up doesn't look right. Would rather

A) Visual deterioration of the zombie as the get weaker (I know this will probably never happen)

B) Put the HP Bar above health and stamina

C) Make it optional or changable

i see health bars as an addition to quality of life. Such as being the worlds greatest craftsman, worlds greatest mechanic, worlds greatest arms manufacturer.

I understand why people dislike them, but of all things that break " immersion " health bars would be low on the list. Plus, settings. Settings make the world go round! (as long as the settings for the world to go round)

From what i have been reading all i can say is... nothing.... it all looks good to me, i do agree with the quests tshirts, some zombies should be dressed as nerds and wear a shirt that says brains, lol, and people have got to stop with the immersion stuff, take everything as is until the game is done or mod it, simple, for me honestly one thing i would love to see is a special infected that spawns at night instead of a roaming horde, and say screams and you can hear it from a great distance and it homes in on where you are, kinda like how i imagine the behemoth would have behaved, would make for interesting encounters, sit there crafting in your base then hear a giant roar from somewhere and you know you only have a few minutes to be ready for like an irradiated zombie bull, or even like a larger version of a zombie that is already in the game just size increased by 2x, something like that would liven up my nights and make me not hide in a mine all night gaining resources lol

Heh...it does make my job more interesting...
Joel mentioning any kind of tentative release date is like fixing the zombies so they dig again. But I was glad to replace the ambiguous bar with a nebulous date.
At least he didnt promise to eat his beard this time. #beardgate
