I would like to see books back in for learning things. Maybe i'll adjust xml for that. So much stuff has changed over time I have learned to wait and see. I do have faith in the Pimps and everybody else involved that over time 7dtd will be the best it can be. I especially want vehicle upgrades back like finding better quality engines ,etc giving better performance and efficiency.

You have a vision. I have a vision. 7 days is pimps vision ;)
Be thankful you CAN mod and that modding is now easier than ever.
Not sure why an expression of hope a suggestion makes it into the base game triggers your protective instinct but sure, count +1.

Modding isn't necessarily easier than ever - debugging is a lot worse through having to start an actual game rather than showing errors on boot up and furthermore, some errors in the mods may not be shown at all.

And even though that probably triggered you as well this was constructive criticism by pointing at what makes life harder for me.

I have NEVER run into an issue with this in A17. If anything the logging is better than ever. You know right away whats wrong etc. And the logs are detailed. I really am confused by what you just said.

Umm I have 20 mods now that all work together mix and match.

So yes it’s easier than ever.

Stop living in the past and also assuming I’m salty.

Mod improvements will come assuredly. Again stop being negative Nancy with me. It won’t provoke anything but love ;)

“Don’t like it...mod it”

I read that very often in the last years but my mind has changed after a short conversation with a friend on discord.

I think that some people are just to lazy or to stupid to “easy mod it”.

With stupid I mean that they need to much time to get use to it so they will not even try it.

He has nearly 2K hours in 7 days but stopped playing A17 after a short time.

It shows me that vanilla need more love with balancing and stuff.

He is only one guy,I know...but I wonder how many of him are out there...

His biggest pain btw is the sleeper spawn depending on your gamestage.

Magazines are overly complex and confusing to me.

The fact that you can read a magazine which grants you a point into a core attribute which then allows you to put points into a skill that you shouldn't have access to yet that is later taken away when your temporary buff wears off is just frustrating because most of the time I don't realize I'm doing it and then later I wonder why all the sudden I'm not getting the effect from the skill I purchased, it just seems broken, it's just not right.

Perhaps there is some room for improvement here?

I think TFP are heading in the right direction, but on the wrong path with some things.

I think books and progression by doing need to play a much bigger role in the game. Our players basically start out dumb and weak and I think the way they get smart and strong should be tied a little more to reality than it is now to make some parts of the game less gimmicky. Here is my idea:

Stamina should be gained through things that truly build stamina - long, physical work! Running, mining, chopping, swimming, etc. Bring our little progression bars back and let us put in an honest day's hard work to build our stamina!

Strength, like stamina, should be earned in ways that build strength - muscle tearing work! Mining, chopping, being encumbered, construction can all lead to sore muscles when you wake up the next day. Notice I did not mention running and swimming because those are more associated with stamina than building muscle. Likewise, encumbered and construction would build more strength so they are not in Stamina.

Books are for learning and our character is dumb so he/she needs a lot of knowledge. A book for the forge, workbench, cement mixer, etc. should be needed to build these items. Same goes for tools and forged steel. Maybe with the forge comes the knowledge to make a very crude pick axe, shovel and something that resembles a fire axe (represented by levels). In the world you can find the schematics for an Iron fire axe (lvl 2), reinforced fire axe (lvl 3), steel fire axe (lvl 4), reinforced steel fire axe (lvl 5), and legendary fire axe (lvl 6). Same goes for all of the other tools... and cooking too (at least anything past the basic stuff).

The big twist... You start out by picking a profession for your past life: Fireman, construction worker, veteran, cook, police officer, etc. Each profession comes with its own starter gear (lower level starter pack). I think Valmod did this in A16 which was a brilliant idea.

Needing a book for just about everything means a TON of exploring is required and different books could be found in different areas of POIs like meds can be found in medicine cabinets and Poppin Pills. However, getting a small head start in different professions means a server's builders can get to building rather quick and miners can get to mining while hunters and vets have a leg up towards getting out and exploring.

Sorry for the wall, but I wanted to get this idea out of my head before it slipped out of my ears. TFP, this should by no means be taken as an insult. I love what you've done with the game - like most I'm just sharing ideas that fit into my small world of what would be awesome.

OK, I know I may get flamed for this but, am I the only one that thinks the "nerdy glasses" are OP? I mean great concept and all but I think they should be scaled down the higher you level. I am currently level 21 in my server and I am making level 5 tools. It is cool but wow, I will be making purples by level 25 including some weapons......

That is too fast, I feel maybe by the time you are crafting green tools the boost should just maybe speed up crafting not boost you an entire level...........

Hi Guys :)

Steel is still a really late unlock, its would be nice if we could unlock steel worker earlier. Tools & Armour are fine at their current levels.

Thanks again, enjoying the game :)

Seeming there is not much difference other than an extra mod slot, it seems ok to me. Its not like you are getting extra damage or -stamina from a better quality like in previous versions. No different than cigar really, with the +1str and 10% barter

"AI will do destroy area 60% on a fall after unreachable side path"

So, the zombies will do 60% increased damage after a fall if they cannot find a way out of a pit?

Idk the details, I assume it has to do with what behavior they do once they fall tho. Instead of pathing to you again, they will attack blocks on the ground maybe? Just guessing off context.

They just made the game 100x easier and the 2nd posts starts begging to make it easier already... it never ends....

A17.1 was just released. My impressions:

No RWG fixes? That really sucks. Any ETA (other than "soon") for when this will be worked on? A17.2 maybe?

Still, the bug fix list is long, and all seem high priority, so thank you.

In particular, thanks for:

  • Bleeding buff carries over to respawn
  • Water is not wet enough. Swimming / rain will now cool you down.
  • Increased harvesting / upgrade XP
  • All AI fixes/improvements

Just these fixes will make a lot of players happy, including myself.

Some mods can get really complicated but most are super easy. Want more skill points per lvl? Open a text file and change 1 to whatever number you want.

If you can post on the forums you can mod.

Not increased damage. 60% chance to switch to destroy area. Think zombies stuck in loops. Climb/fall/climb/fall.

Unfortunately, other destroy area improvements were not done until after build 8, so you won't get them until the next update.

Thanks for all the hardwork you all do :)
