hey faatal i found some valuable information about performance.
running ryzen 7, 1080ti. i been playing around with all the graphics settings trying to find something that works well. I found the main issue that seems to impact performance. I use 2560x1440 and all settings high, only getting 30-50 fps. after slightly lowering each setting to find whats giving me the most improvement, it seems dropping tree quality from high/ultra down to medium gives me a ♥♥♥♥ ton, like i can max everything but keep tree quality on medium and have 90+ fps.

you guys should look at something chewing up performance when using high quality trees, thanks!
A few months ago, I think I noticed the same thing with trees. We optimize systems occasionally, but as the game nears gold, I'm sure there will be a general pass over everything. Zombie character controllers tend to be slow, so that one is on my list, since we would like to put more zombies out there.

Something with recent windows update made a similar problem for me and throttle everything:video/internet/fps. Clean windows installation: same. Changed SATA cable / changed power settings to high performence / got another windows update while doing so and after those 3 PC ran well again.Guess it was power settings all along that i haven't changed for a year since i got win10 to begin with but MC just came out with the "delete your files" update so this isn't that surprising anymore
No, no. You have it all wrong. That only happens when you don't have enough disk space. Clearly you didn't need all those files.

Hi Faatal. Thanks for being so active in here and, well, basically keeping us from killing ourselves in despair during these post-Alpha release times.

I run an i7 8700K, 1080 and I can run this game on maxed everything with ease BUT I need to have shadows off for that.

If I turn shadows on, it drops to 30 FPS for me. I use a 1440p monitor with constant 60 FPS (Vsync) if I have shadows as low as possible.

But, why ? Wouldn't that make the game easier ?
In a sense, yes. The game would be easier because you would be albe to do things that you weren't able to do before. I am all in favor of more freedom and less restrictions. Being able to crawl trough a 1x1 gap just makes sense to me.

What kind of game would you prefer: one whose difficulty is based on restricting the player, or one whose difficulty is dictated by smart enemy AI for example?

The only reason why this feature is not in the game yet, is because it is hard to implement it for npcs and zombies and they don't want to give it to players only.

Sounds sane if it is properly ballanced between players and enemies, indeed. In PvP will be a bit easier to raid a base though. Anyway many examples we can give. I am interested if it will get a chance to be implemented.

Yay! 1-block-ingress-gate is back! I like this one.

A simple way to balance it is slowing the players movement speed to a crawl if they're prone (pun intended). Sure you can try to escape the Z's by crawling trough a small opening but do you have the time to make it through before they start attacking your legs? Especially dangerous if you can't turn around while doing it.

What about the ability to customize gamepad buttons on a PC? Some of my subscribers play on the PC on the gamepad and can not change the purpose of the buttons on the gamepad. Can they do it?
I tried playing with joypad but gave up as i couldn't set up the pad buttons top what I wanted, would be good if this was possible at some stage before gold.

I like this idea.

Then, they need to make a crawling option, since you don't get low enough when crouching to go through a one block space. That's why the one block thing was removed after being introduced in an early alpha. You would see the player's head and upper body go through the block just above the one block opening; it looked silly.

I'd like to see the three main firing position represented.

Standing/Walking - What we have now.

Kneeling - Better aim, slower movement speed.

Prone - Even better aiming, low shooting angle, very slow movement speed.

There are more firing positions but these would add a lot to gameplay and immersion.

hey! im starting to lose my hype.... :p it says *we will release when the bugs are fixed*
@Roland, is it possible to list the bugs for us(if too many, only Major ones) and scratch them off the list as they get fixed?

so we can keep more track on the games progress :)
As much as i would like to see a bug tracker, i don't think this forum could handle it.

If they exposed their bug list/tracker, the forum would explode every time new bugs were added to the list, there would be endless debates on if it was a bug or cool new feature, what priority they should be fixed in, are they important enough to fix/hold up release, and most annoyingly, everyone putting in their 2 cents on "how" they should be fixed.

It has been stated many times that the devs have a vision and a plan...and that we are basically along for the ride. They read our posts and may take them into consideration, but do not change the plan just because of our posts. If they were coding towards the vocal minority, the game would be completely different (and a new vocal minority would arise).

I am actually happy with the feedback we have been getting in the past couple of weeks...although i would like to see some more gameplay videos like the rest of you...but 30 minutes of video and an hour to edit/process/upload is 90 minutes that could be used to work towards fixing something...those hours add up fast.
