Use your wrench, get rid of it, place a Washing Machine, Ta-Da...……….
Yeah that would solve it alright. Only one problem with that. There is no washing machine in the game.

But on the up side. You have a really good excuse why you don't do the laundry. ;)

Are there no limits to the trader buying WCB? Lowering the limit would help.

I just sell stuff that I don't need to the trader, usually excess schematics. I'm a hoarder, always thinking that I will need the item after I've sold it. It is nice to be able to buy things that I can't yet construct.

Sounds like fun. I never went to college. Learned programming from books and trial and error.
Did almost 4 years in the Air Force as a Computer Operator in a comm center. Did game cracking on the side and wrote the Nib disk copier for the Amiga. A year (1991) after getting out I ended up working on arcade games in Chicago at Williams Electronic Games.
You were a flyboy. Get out! lol. Me to man. Spent six years in the Airforce, loved it. :)

washers arent needed for an apocalypse... but you damn sure need dry weed or you cant smoke the pot while fighting zombies and other hazards! :)

my youngest brother knew that back in the 80s/90s.

For A16, its easy to trick the AI, but that will probably not be the case in A17.Only Shotgun Turrets are cost/effective if cheating is not an option. But you start running out even when farming zombie bones.

The only thing I can think of is to keep as many zombies moving as possible and not pounding on your walls.

So a set of four Forts in a square, linked by covered walkways, where you run most of the time.

Double wide, double deep upside down spikes alone the walls.

...
My base is just to protect my stuff from screamers and random hordes. I do Blood Moons on the open road, with the help of grain alcohol, painkillers, and a few med kits (plus some guns and explosives, of course). And I don't mean on a minibike. Perhaps I am bypassing the whole tower defense part of the game, but it's tons more fun dealing with the horde when it's chasing me instead of me watching it beat on my stuff.

Roland, have you already released Alpha 17?

I like to do half the night on top of a base shooting and the other half on the ground with melee weapons.

I think everyone should at least try to stay above ground as long as possible. Props to who does it till day 210!
It would be a great thing to talk about and for sure, I'm open to advise.

Brute strength forts (solid first floor) start to fail around day 70. But then what? The skyscrapers?
currently, I have a stilt platform with suspension hangings that have lasted me a long time. with the new ai pathing, it then becomes dependent upon how far away do they start said tracking. 5 blocks, 7, 11? suspensions bridge type killing areas could still work, greater than that and SI will kick you in the balls as the zed rip out the supports.

edit: more than likely I will do a maze like structure of posts and barb wire as well as centered iron bars. leave the barbed wire at head level only. slows them down, lets crawlers and dogs through which I can shotgun, and continue through the maze shooting through the bars. a few electric fences turn on and off randomly to pop legs and slow them down some more. Pukers and Hawaiians in that scenario are the main problem.

edit 2: I currently modded my game so regular zeds always walk, even at night, but made ferals faster, and increased when they spawn.

I'm going to say the A17 AI is built to counter all pole type forts and forts that gimmick the A16 AI pathing. Underground will still be stronger and safer, but at least it is no longer perfectly safe.

Even so, I believe most deaths in A17 might be from POI traps, falls and ambushes.

"It's a brave, yet crazy man who thinks they can clear more A17 POI's than me". - Chuck Norris.

Chuck Norris doesn't clear POI's, he just waits outside while the sleepers bring out loot and then collapse on the ground in resignation of their inevitable death.

gah! go choke on a toothpick! ban on all chuck norris jokes. even he says he is too old now. make in memory of chuck norris jokes.

Like Zeds just think of a chuck norris movie and fall over dead.

Okay... if you insist :-)

The worst thing about Chuck Norris' death will be watching the universe unravel as his force of will fades.

The best thing will be God's apology.

If Chuck Norris was a zombie...

Thats right, no nukes were dropped, all damage to buildings was caused by him... walking by.

In A17, if you see Zombie Chuck Norris, you computer will explode and electricity will refuse to enter your house for 40 days and 40 nights!

Not all stutter is solved?

On stuttering:Pre A16, stutters were caused by a couple known things and possibly unknowns.

The first known was that the UFPS camera was updating in the wrong order sometimes causing what would look like FPS lag while your FPS would still say 60fps. That one I fixed early on in A17 development so that will no longer be an issue. This would happen when the CPU's physics update would get out of sync with the game update so it was hard to track at first. I tried some random things until I stumbled onto something that kept those calculations in order.

The other known is Garbage Collection. Prior to A17 we made a LOT of garbage and created a lot of new structs and method level vars during run time. We have now internally all started pushing vars to class members instead of making them in the methods. While it adds a tiny bit more to ram when creating the class initially, it doesn't need to destroy it every time the method is ran. The new effect system that runs buffs, progression, items, and events uses this setup so that processing a lot in one frame won't make a crapton of garbage from all those tiny bits adding up.

There are probably more situations and such that have stuttering but those are the main ones I know about and that we've found and started working on reducing.

For anyone curious, below are my system stats and I never have issues with any Unity based games, or any games for that matter.

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3

Processor: AMD FX-6300 Six Core Processor (6 CPU) ~3.5GHz

Memory: 20480MB (yeah, I had an extra 4GB ram stick laying around lol)

Video Card: GeForce GTX 1060 3GB

Hard Drives: 512G SSD (2 of them), 2TB HDD

I have windows installed on one of my SSDs and I keep all my games installed on the other. :)
Hey @Kinyajuu

I have a stutter issue, that is also affecting some other people I've found online. I used to be a developer, and have tinkered in Unity, but am a professional system and network engineer these days, so tried EVERYTHING I could think of to resolve it. I have a document nearly two pages long of my attempts that I can send you if you want. Long story short, it appears to only affect the hosting server in 16.4 multiplayer game, and 60fps drops to 45fps every ~15 seconds or so. Not constantly though. The best I can assume is that it's either the GC that you mentioned, or DX9.

Confirmed not OS, GPU, SSD, WAN/LAN lage, CPU, IO contention, etc. Let me know if you want me to PM you the deets.

Oh and sorry if you reply/comment and I miss it - I'm terrible at forums.

Thanks and keep up the great work.

PS: Nexus183 (Brother, another 7D2D player, and amateur Unity dev) really really wants you to add some level of bump mapping on textures, and I personally am just so damned happy to see Vulkan support.

Ready for A17 Horde Night, SIR!

The Al's Marina super zombie destroyer is FULLY operational... Funded by our concerned patrons.
