PC Dev Diary arguing

One thing I am really worried the most about with 7dtd is the story, I hope it's not going to be some generic, predictable plot, because I really want a memorable story to fit such an amazing game concept.

I completely agree, actually this vague plot at the background is excellent.

 
And it is a main element of 7d2d, I basically play only Minecraft and 7d2d. The (endless) building and destructible world are unique features in the gaming world. i might add Empyrion once it comes out of Alpha as it is still clunky and not fleshed out atm.
There are too many FPS games out there already. Fallout 4 could be a RPG game but as you already noted, it is written poorly.

And look how Fallout 76 is going nowhere, no real RPG anymore.

With 7d2d you can create your own RPG story, again it is more creative. For me an excellent game stimulates creativity as where game development of AAA games go into this how to make it look better and better and failing miserably often as a game.

If the focus is on how it looks awesome then that wouldn't give it a long playable element as the game mechanics are key.

Project Zomboid and Kenshi are good examples of this.

I mean, Madmole himself said in that same post that the art is just gravy. I'm not sure why everyone is assuming that Madmole says that art is most important when in that very same post he debunks the claim.

Madmole wrote about it once years ago. He said it started with a world war around 2047. That it was a Nuclear war and that a disease broke out killing most of the survivors, turning them into zombies. The disease originally took 7 days to kill you, hence the name, Seven Days To Die.

In Alpha 9.3. I did a test on the stages of the disease just to see what would happen.

First stage starts right away with stamina being slightly lowered. It took longer to recharge to.

First stage last three days.

Second stage is even more stamina drain. Making it hard to do much of any work. That lasted another three days.

Third stage the seventh day, health constantly drops and you die.

This was years ago when he wrote that the story might have changed since then so don't quote me. :)

my theory was that Nuclear war came, wrecked everything, people rebuild but then the infection came and set everyone on earth back to tier zero, military tried to help people after the war but they were ravaged too. sent Hazmat teams to kill the zombies. they all died, Duke started to takeover the areas around Arizona due to his influences from before the war (due to his casino), White river are people who are survivalist that try to help people with trade , shelter and protection. and you were just some nobody after duke wreck you and left you for dead

And that's an understatement... Writing is criminally terrible, and that is even more apparent with a full dialogue display mod.

lol nice. That last pic I can so see that becoming reality for fallout one day.

 
However, I appreciate games that maintain a coherent look and that *does* heavily influence our perceptions. If I'm playing a what is supposed to be a claustrophobic horror game, but everything is bright, open and fairly generic, the mood and atmosphere are at odds with the game itself. Music, level design, and graphics can all help in setting the mood, tension, and weight of a game, creating a richer and more memorable experience.

I would say the "art" or graphics only really matter to children and young people when purchasing a game.If the target audience for future sales are children and young people then I would say it matters. Don't get me wrong, if a game looks like complete crap I doubt it will sell very well. When I'm out looking to buy a game the very last thing I look at is the art or graphics of a game. If that was the case, I never would have bought 7D2D during A8 or so.

you are hearing only what you want to hear dude. Everything you just said is not the truth and you are only seeing and interpreting what you want to believe I said and meant. I could sit here all day long trying my hardest to try and convince you what I meant but I would only be speaking to a wall. The next time you want to quote what i said why don't you quote everything instead of trying to distort the truth by leaving out vital parts.

If both of those weapons are swung at the same speed they do not have the same kinetic energy because you must take in to account the mass of an object in order to calculate the k energy. KE = 0.5 × m × v^2 not W = F × d

Nobody said anything about constant speed. I said constant force.

The slower a weapon is the less K energy it has not more assuming when you use the word energy you mean k energy.

That is assuming it's the same weapon with the same mass that's being slower, in this case, the slower weapon happens to be the heavier one.

Opinions, thankfully do not have any place when it comes to physics. K energy does not convert in to K energy, it converts in to work.

K energy converts to K energy all the time. That's what's happening whenever you hit a pool ball with another pool ball. One way that energy can go from one object to another is work, but work is technically not in itself a form of work.
