PC Deer Hunting - old vs. new

All default settings. They all move. Deer's wither does or stags will run and weirdly, kind of studdering... But they do stop after running and turn around. Boars do run at you too. Bears do too! Albeit the bear seems a bit more broken at the moment cause he jitters when moving. Vultures - albeit not a source of immediately consumable meat are broken; too many in a constant stream especially in a burnt forest/desert area where the biomes are 'patched together.'

As for comparing the old and new - similar but yes even on day one you can almost certainly one shot the deer even with stone arrows. But when the deer running - the new are faster and a bit more unpredictable than the old. Boars seem to be about 4 shots with stone arrows; but later without any perks at all seem to dance between 3 & 4. Bears are around 30 if not more with stone arrows if not more; about 20 with steel arrows but that's later in the game too. Some vultures seem to need two shots but I'm sure that's later in the game; not sure if that makes a difference.

There is an issue with wolves and backpedaling; their chance to hit you seems to skyrocket. Last night - about level 20, I was mobbed by a pack of at least 6. I got 4 while backpedaling with a bow... YES! A bow iron arrows and no perks, I was picking crops... They hit me like 3 times and then another one came out of no where and got me lol Could be the mechanic with the backpedaling; or they all rolled badly.

Before it was harder but you needed less meat per recipe, now is easier to get but you need more, also with the current status of the game less meat early game would mean 10x the chaos here and with steam reviews 😂
Meat is identical math wise. They drop 5x as much and recipes take 5x as much. This let us do the harvest bonuses. (can't harvest 20% more of 1).

Does and pigs don't run away anymore, it's either bugged or more likely not a priority yet.
Pigs never ran away. They turn hostile when attacked instead. Does do run away, but they suck at it. Stags run away for miles as they always did.

no, boars and wolves are bugged,. they don't move

They move for me. First death in my two A17 runs were from boars.

I think you meant boars never ran away. Pigs (removed in A16 in favor of boars) ran away.

I shoot and aggressive animal, run away for 15 seconds and they deaggro. I've never been less afraid of animals. I hunted wolves and boars under level 5 and 2 shot them both with no skills invested.

I'd like to see animals being a bit more rare but packing a bit more meat to compensate, and most importantly them being haaaard to kill with crudes weapons. They should sense you from way further away and run for their life / in a erratic way. Would make hunting feel like a real victory when succeeded by making it more challenging and packing a bigger reward, and it would give guns like the Hunting rifle a more decent purpose especially early game when you're short on bullets. Right now there's just no animal that stands a chance on day 1 if you're half a decent shot, since you can get as close as 10 blocks and have all the time you need to aim since they barely move unless hunted.

Also, the rabbit should pack something special. He's the hardest mofo to kill out there but it's mostly not even worth chasing him down without firearms.
