Hi first time post on here, been waiting years for this game and love it so far. I was wondering if there is any updates if consoles players can get dedicated servers so we dont have to wait for the host to log in?

I apologize if im breaking any guidelines im new in here.

any news for dedicated servers on console? It Is the only reason why I bought the game again. I was waiting for that feature so long since the old version.

Crossplay is on the roadmap and then you will be able to log into PC dedicated servers.

Before that the server would have to be a console I would imagine. I don't expect Sony or MS to provide servers, this isn't a game for central servers.

(Inofficial answer, I am not an employee of TFP)

Hello,

a quick Question is if there are already informations about dedicated servers for console when the Crossplay Update in Q4 will be released and if we are able to use the existing dedicated server files after because i dont want and hope we are not tied to a hoster and also if mods work on console then how serverside mods work on PC.

Crossplay should allow you to play on dedicated servers, yes.  But mods are still up in the air.  That depends on Microsoft and Sony approving the use of mods, which isn't guaranteed.  If I were to guess, I'd say server side mods are probably going to be possible, but that may or may not end up being true.

FYI - unless Sony has changed their policy, the only way to get game mods on the PS5 is for them to be officially released by the game developer.  TFP would have to work with the modders and then with Sony in order to get mods approved.  And from my basic understanding, Sony has more stringent requirements / limitations on mods compared to MS Xbox (though I don't want to present myself as an expert, I haven't owned a console for years now - my boys do though).

There are mods out there for PS5, but all of them are through the game developer's system (Bethesda, Giants, etc) and not 3rd party mods like they are today with the PC version.

Because of Neebs I want darkness falls mod. Can someone who knows all the big mods make a poll we vote and fun pimps can try and make official?

Sadly, I don't think that the consoles will ever be capable of supporting Darkness Falls.

So with Cross-play possibly coming soon for 7 days to die. Is it my understanding that we will be able to create a server on a personal Pc with edits to the "xml files" that will work for ps5/Xbox console players who connect to the server? for example change things like the amount of water spawning in loot and or have more chances for bears to spawn in the Forest biome, things of that nature will be possible? Or will we be locked out from making any server side edits of any kind? Just curious as to everyone's thoughts on this? Is it too early to know? I know we may not get mod support but if we can at least edit the xml files from server side that would be a great thing.

Server settings can most likely be edited. But with mod support it’s more difficult. Mods must be on both the server and the client.

Not necessarily. Tons of mods out there are server side only. How mods work for console though, I have no idea.

Well if console cant use server side mods...I hope console players can get more advanced options/sliders to tweak various aspects of the game.

Ok since 7 days to die is now a cross-platform playable game, is it possible to rent or purchase a dedicated server on pc just so my and my buddy on xbox can both have access at all times? Or is there another way for us to both have access at different times? We love the game but hate that the host has to be online for the other person to be able to play...

Yes hosting on a personal computer if you want to or rent a server somewhere because serverfiles still exists already since 7 Days exists and i hope they will be updated and accessable for crossplay since Microsoft and Sony are very strange to their privacys... but i also hope XML files will be accessable like normal on PC so console players can have more custom options to play with or even add their own stuff if they feel like. Mod support will be like always very unlikely or atleast totally rare. Just hope for accessing the XML stuff thats enough for the beginning... >.<

Tfp. Here it is. Finally out of alpha after 10 years. The final release of 7dtd for console. 1.0. Here is the road map for when you will have features in a year. Lol. You guys are funny. Keep up the excellent work.

To top this one off,  another question about cross play  - is there going to be crossplay between steam/console aka, I load up a private game and have console players join?

:)
