Dear TFP, What are you doing?

2.0 is out...2.1 is stable...2.2 is in the works. Why should I not ask about 3.0? why should I not ask if there is any new information?
I never said you can't ask for new information. What I quoted wasn't a request for new information. It was a complaint, pure and simple.

The response was to your statement about not addressing the roadmap not being met. That's been discussed to death and you are bent on being upset about it, while most of use just accept the reality of how TFP does things. No need to keep rehashing it. In addition, you mentioned when bandits are coming. Again, this has been discussed to death. They are coming in 3.0. People can only guess at when that will be. And, like Roland said, I would also really appreciate them NOT putting any dates on the roadmap if they choose to update it so we can stop hearing all the complaints about missed dates.

If you want to be upset about it, that's up to you. Discussing it over and over and over and over and over and over... ad nauseum, is a waste of time.

Let's give you a simple answer for all your complaints about the roadmap....

Yes, they missed their roadmap dates. Yes, that means that all future dates are incorrect. No, there aren't new dates (yet). Yes, bandits will be in 3.0, at least as an initial state, and will likely get updates in 3.1 and 3.2 and so on, just like storms and biome hazards are getting updates now. And, no... it is VERY unlikely they'll hit dates they give in the future unless the date is only a week or so away and it is very unlikely that they will improve their communication beyond what it is now.

You may not like those answers, but that's what there is.

Are you staff?

you speak quite often as if you are...or is that a goal of yours? to be a moderator for this 7dtd site.

You are not saying I can't ask question...just that because I don't share your rosie view of TFP, and THAT has been discussed, I just don't deserve any answers about how much longer we will have to wait...I'll have to assume that's because they REALLY don't know how to communicate or self organize? and I should not expect them to improve as a company...it is not going to happen...you have given up and I should too.

He doesn´t act like staff. Just like someone who is tired of beating a dead horse. You have one valid point though. They suck at communication with the community and they can´t organize themselves as we see with the whole twitch drop situation.

They need a community manager that also knows how to set up a stream and handle drops properly. If they keep acting like this and Bloodmoons get´s released things will get even worse assuming Bloodmoons will come to early access before 7 days get´s the 4.0 update, which i think will happen.

What was recycled about those outfits? They were all original art designed in house by TFP and they never once had been in the game. What was the original design from which they were "recycled"?
Think he is referring as to how the DLC is content that got cut from the new styles which were seen in previous TFP videos.
When the update first dropped most critics were absolutely convinced that the only response to a storm was to immediately hide and wait. But now weeks later we are reading more and more posts by those who haven't immediately hidden and didn't just wait out the storm and we are seeing more positivity about the storms. This doesn't mean they won't enact adjustments but they want to see all the feedback and give the players the time needed to explore the new mechanics.
I don't see a lot of that. I still see a vast majority still wishing for more change to happen with storms to make them more interactive. As stated in another thread. You can go out into the storms and spam heal. You can also drive a car with your feet.
DLC is good. It would be nice to look down and see your feet (more immersion) I understand it's not a priority. I don't think it's hard to implement
The DLC is arguably good only if you are wanting to support the developers. Otherwise it's quite expensive for what it is no question about it. It's fine to support the devs. I have got a lot of hours clocked in myself. But lets not pretend that $10 for a skin is a good price tag.

What was your question again? I get that your not happy with the update? What specifically would you like to see changed? What do you think would be reasonable to change? I honestly tried to look but all I could see was arguing with people over trivial things rather than substantive critiques for the game and I say that with no offense intended.

So I am mostly right except... I don't accept that the roadmap timings do not matter and according to this site...never did. the roadmap dates...those were aspirational... not a lie to get console to buy back in...or to pass requirements to get back on the platforms...just a thing that happens. c'mon man, if you agree that they suck at communication but think it's okay that they miss EVERY DEADLINE THAT THEY IMPOSE ON THEMSELVES...well...that's a cognitive dissonance.

when will they give us an update on 3.0 progress?

It´s called being patient and knowing that it´s wasted time to rage about. You could write a whole book about it, sell it a million times and TFP still wouldn´t change anything. You simply waste your time.

Different situations we start from though, i bought the game 2013. If they are half a year late, that is nothing for me after nearly 12 years of development.

this had nothing to do with the 2.0 update...it was about the DLC...and then other people dragged it into being about my attitude towards the roadmap not being met...or updated and that I should stop talking about it.

when will they give us an update on 3.0 progress?
After they finish fixing issues with 2.0, which hopefully will be after the 2.2 release.

And I really hope that their updates on 3.0 never mention a date so we can avoid the complaints about them missing the dates. Because guess what... They will miss any dates they give.

Unfortunately, since they haven't learned that after all these years if missed dates, I don't expect then to stop giving dates. They'll probably give something like Q4 2025 for 3.0 and release it next summer.

Would bandits be in 3.0 or perhaps they can slide them into 2.0 in a later patch I wonder. I figure bandits should be further along than the endgame content with the Duke which would presumably be 4.0 but that is also assuming they don't spend another year re-inventing the wheel (skill system).

Looking at the screenshot I can admit that TFP shared a plan to release outfits that included the ones in the DLC. That picture doesn't show all of the outfits that were released with 1.0. There were more than were pictured here. The desert outfit and the hoarder outfit are pictured but the marauder is not. So was this picture meant to convey the exact content that was to be released or was it an update of what was being worked on? Probably depending on how bitter one is or not will determine the perspective...

I can understand the disappointment of someone who was really looking forward to the desert outfit and then finding out that it was going to cost extra. That is definitely a normal reaction and I don't begrudge anyone their disappointment.

However, regardless of whether an asset was announced as playable in internal builds or not, if it was never released then it isn't recycled or old content. Those three outfits were made by an artist at the same time the other sets were but they were held back to be released now as DLC. Here is a true example of old and recycled assets. If TFP were to just re-use the same bandit models they created back in A15 (which many modders have made use of) to release in 3.0 THAT would be the epitome of using old and recycled assets.

But they aren't going to do that. They are going to introduce a dozen brand new bandit models to the game in 3.0. But be careful! Some of these models were shown before 1.0 and all of them were completed back at the same time the outfits were created because the outfits and the bandit models were created together. So what say you? Are the bandits coming out for 3.0 recycled and old just because they weren't created within some arbitrary time frame close enough to release but not too far back?

Here's another example. What if they resurrected the old Behemoth as DLC? That was briefly released and even remained commented out in the files for awhile after it was removed. That would definitely be recycling an old asset that was once part of the base free game. But what if they updated it and improved it a worked on it to bring it up to the modern game standards? Would it then be purely recycled or partly new? Would it be scummy and cash grabby for them to release it as a DLC enemy or would they be legitimately entitled to ask for money for its inclusion? There are all kinds of shades of gray with this but in the case of the outfits, they were never released they were not recycled from any old asset. It is clear.

Disappointing for some to be sure.

The roadmap lists them as 3.0 and God help us for any deviations from the roadmap. If TFP released them as part of 2.0 they would be big fat liars.

Haha, you mean like the free mod I have installed right now that already resurrects the Behemoth and puts it back in the game? That would be a weird way for TFP to try to make money. 😁

Weird but definitely recycling old assets. It was just an example of what recycling an old asset would actually look like. If they returned the behemoth and updated it, it would most likely be part of the base game and not DLC.

@Roland The marauder was at one point shown as the new iron armor. Pretty sure that was before the new armor system was introduced.

True. It was shown but never added. Not a single person ever played with the marauder outfit even as iron armor before it was released as DLC.

I've been under the impression, perhaps mistaken, that TFP have been learning as they go. (I'm all for learn by doing, which involves a great deal of trial and error and, of course, begs a little slack.) 10+ years later of hard-won experience, especially with the Telltale mess, TFP obviously have improved as developers, if not communicators. Of course, the lack of professional communication could be indicative of pretty much anything else, but when it comes to release dates announced by any publisher or developer...I ignore them and I ignore them because we've seen the results of development studios being forced to release a game nowhere near ready for release and it ain't pretty. I'd much prefer development studios everywhere be allowed, by publishers and otherwise, to take their time and get it right than demand they release precisely on schedule, much less keep me updated on their progress. That's probably not going to happen any time soon. In fact, the pressure on studios by their higher ups gets worse every year.

There isn't any reason to think they will appear before 3.0. That is unlikely to change.

Just being snarky. Tbh I find it amusing that people get so upset about slipped dates and delays. It's PC game development. This is the way it is.

HammerDano can gnash his teeth, shake his fists at the sky, whatever. It doesn't change the fact that indie PC game developers are always late.

Duke Nukem Forever. Freelancer. Cyberpunk 2020 (which should have been delayed an additional 2 years tbh).

I remember when even text adventures rarely shipped on time. TEXT adventures. lol

And let´s not forget about games like No Mans Sky (they redeemed themselves though, still putting out updates, already 4 this year, i need to play it again), Fallout 76, Redfall and many others that were simply released way too early.

Why, I had to wait an extra six months for Zork III to ship for IBM PC clones back in the day. AFTER it was available on the Apple IIe.

It was an outrage, I tell you!

The behemoth coming back in some form would indeed be awesome. If they did a DLC it would have to be a roaming mob, for example in the wasteland. I feel like this comment is under-rated and would be an easy addition to the game compared to re-making the skill system. TFP get on it!

I really dont want to get into this sea of emotions and people telling other people how to feel and how to post, so Ill cut straight to the point. Absolutely +1 to the topic title (and only the title). I have no idea what the hell they are doing or why. Why they have the urge to make my game more and more miserable with every update. However, I still hold this game in general in high regard and as long as I can play the version I like I will consider my money well spent.
