Darkness Falls v4.03A Combining Problem

When I try to combine items in the laser workbench I can only get them to level 79.  When I attempt the next level I get a message at the bottom of the screen that items can only reach level 80, but my items will not go past level 79.  Any ideas what I may be missing?
