Darkness Falls: They mostly come out at night...

Hi. I hope I'm in the right place. I'm trying to install Darkness Falls and I'm getting an error and the game won't run. So I'm looking for some help.
I'm installing with the Mod Launcher. I have the proper versions of everything, and the game starts, but at some point when the process starts initializing world a log display appears with some text in red regarding an asset bundle that is already loaded. Animal Hunter Potion Unity 3d or something like that. There is also a notation in red stating that there is a Divide By Zero Exception. At that point the game locks up and must be terminated. I'm attaching a screenshot but it's a bit hard to see. Is there an error file I can attach somewhere? Any assistance is appreciated.

UPDATE - Got it working by manually installing. I hope the information is useful in some way.

This is a normal issue with the Mod Launcher with this game and a couple others .. But if you just hit ESC and go back into game screen .. the game will run fine .. Should (SAY) it does for me and I've had it happen several times .. has to do with something in how windows reads the game .. I understand it can happen on a Linux system also.

 
As per what Hardcase found, I strongly recommend manual installs atm because the launcher is occasionally corrupting/incorrectly copying files and I don't know why.

Is there a list of all itens we can spawn using the spawnentity command? The list cuts off when i use it.
Press F6 and use that menu. It's WAY better.

I loaded Darkness falls to my server and it starts to load but when i get to Creating player screen it stops loading. i then get a long list of errors about loading prefab. what would cause this?
A bad install of some kind. Would need the server log file to see why it's failing.

Hello. Really like your mod. There were no problems with the installation. But there is a problem that I find it difficult to play with a friend. When we are together, after 5-10 minutes my screen just flies out or the screen just turns off (I play on a laptop). I want to note that the screen does not turn black, but simply turns off, but all the sounds are present. I exclude that the problem is in the power of the laptop since the hardware should be suitable (gtx 960m, RAM 16gb, intel core i7 4720hq). Help solve the problem
Dumb idea.

Try plugging your laptop into an external display and see if the issue continues. If it does, then you may have an overheating issue so it's turning off the GPU. If the external screen continues to work but the internal screen goes off, you may have a bad cable inside the laptop (it does happen, annoyingly).

It's not installed properly. You can tell by all the missing blocks. My guess would be your provider isn't allowing DLL uploads, which then makes the blocks.xml fail.

For a while I've been trying to do Eve's quest line, but couldn't get into the POI due to lacking the needed item for the front door. Well, I finally got lucky and found it in a random Hidden Stash... after trying to get it as loot from lab zombies for days before that.
Unfortunately the zombies that had spawned in on previous visits when I didn't have the item were still there, so despite previously feeling like a pretty tough guy, I got slaughtered. And extra unfortunately, when I went back to Eve she was attacked by some random zombo and I accidentally clipped her when trying to help out, so, well, it was either her or me. Hoping she'll respawn eventually.

Anyway, the quest may have failed, but the POI was still there, so I decided to try and loot it. It took some doing with the toughies that had spawned, but eventually I managed to clear my way through the front door - only to get thrown right out by the endless stream of horror that particular POI throws at you. Died several times trying to figure out how the heck I was supposed to progress.

At one point I tried luring them away, but that didn't help - though I did get a lot of useful loot, including enough notes to unlock future tech! I still lack the levels to progress in it, as well as the equipment to craft even the first level stuff, but it's nice to get that out of the way.

It all started feeling a bit unfair when two behemoths had spawned indoors, especially as it left my backpack from previous deaths pinned in the back (bit of a bug/exploit there by the way, the zombies completely lost aggro when I dived into a corner on the far end of the first room; I could even get sneak attack bonuses from like 4m away), but I can't say it was anything but memorable when I had to kite one out into the surrounding landscape and try to hit it with frag rockets just to chip away at that giant health bar.

I think it was after my fourth or fifth death that I finally figured the trick out, and felt like a genius (and a dumbass, for not figuring it out earlier ). After that things were pretty straightforward, though I chickened out on the last room with all the soldiers in it and flung a couple rockets in there to stop the stream without having to get close myself... I hope I didn't blow up anything important?

Managed to loot a laser pistol, which'll be a godsend for the demonic enemies that have started popping up, though I'm a little salty that it does more damage without mods than my fully upgraded coilrifle, which I only recently started using. I suspect the coilsniper won't have time to shine, but we'll see once I hit level 100.

Sidenote, but I'm grateful that much of the furniture in there was made of high quality materials; made it worth bringing a wrench.

Now I just need to find Eve again and do her quest for the POI, I really want to see if that goes anywhere.

Overall 10/10, glad I didn't ask for help and figured everything out the hard way

I have the mod installed manually, I can play single player but when I try to go in to a multiplayer server it gets stuck at "creating player". Am I missing something?

 
I just started playing 7 Days to Die a few weeks ago and loved it. Darkness Falls has taken my love for it to a whole new level. You have done incredible work, and it's one of the things keeping me sane during this lockdown.

I ran into a problem that I hope someone can help with. I ran into Eve, and she gave me the quest to check out a POI and clear it. The first time I went, I thought I had cleared every possible enemy, but it would not trigger the "return to trader." I wandered off and failed the quest.

I then found Eve again, and she game me the quest again which took me to an entirely different place. I cleared it and received the "return to trader" completion this time. However, she is now gone. My map shows I'm within .5 meters of her, but she is nowhere to be found. Will she respawn here or somewhere else? Should I drop the quest and try to find her again after that? I really want to continue to dig deeper into the storyline.

I had a similar problem and had to abandon the quest, she had respawned when I came back a while later.

 
Downloded Darkness falls using mode launcher installed everything but when im opening it say "could not fully initialize Steam:the steam client not running or no connection possible. Made reset for pc couple times and relog in my steam acc still same problem. Maybe someone now what to do???

 
Khaine great mod. have 2 problems that we have encountered. 1.) farming of mushrooms. I have the farmer tree perk maxed out. Now when I put the mushrooms into a farm plot i yield only 3.

and only 1, if not in a farm plot. it takes 2 mushrooms to make a set. really only netting +1 gain or -1 loss. Am I doing something wrong? Did I miss something? 2.) Horde night loot bags. THERE is way too much, it is to a point where we have our base set up in a hallway and we can't repair on the fly because the bags are stacking too high. We can easily get 150 plus on horde night. is that intended?

 
I had a similar problem and had to abandon the quest, she had respawned when I came back a while later.
It's been about 1 in-game week. Do they respawn in the same place, or will I generally find them somewhere else? Thanks.

 
Ok, I'm a little confused... I'm playing solo with a basic nitrogen map. Day 1, by the time I get to the trader, I've got irradiated zombie cops and giants. I've restarted 3 times and every time, within 10 minutes of me arriving at the trader on Day 1, the trader is utterly swarmed, massive sections of wall exploding, numerous zombies swarming in. Is that normal?

It did the same thing with the link you provided. No Idea what is going wrong. Might just be a crappy Mac problem, but its all I got. I thought maybe it was a memory problem but I don't think so. Anyway thanks for the try.. Love the Mod when I could play. Keep up the great work!

I have no idea, i'm afraid. I don't own a mac. I have a hackintosh SOMEWHERE, but it's like a 3rd gen i5 using intel graphics... so it barely runs 7DTD as it is. The only thing I can suggest would be either a windows or linux dual boot and run it like that.

The problem there, is because she's spawned by biome controls, the game loves to despawn her. Because THAT happens, you then can't hand the quest in.

I may have a fix for that... I was working on it last night. Haven't tested it yet though.

They're a weapon. So stick them in your hotbar, select them like a weapon, punch some zombies. ;)

This happens to me if i'm running 7DTD off my C: drive, but steam is somewhere else.

I have to run 7DTD AND Steam as an admin to fix it.

I'll double check the mushrooms. Sounds like something may not be configured right. If they have the E prompt, don't use that. Punch them otherwise your perk bonus doesn't apply.

Yes it's sort of intended. I globally increased the loot bag drop but reduced the quality of loot so it works more like A16. If you have a scavenger with lucky looter maxed out killing stuff, that increases the drop chance by a further 20%.

Not really, no. Is your trader near a wasteland?

 
So pickaxes aren't supposed to do that. It's basically just the vanilla code (same for the normal wrench). It looks like it's a vanilla bug.

HOWEVER, I have fixed it locally and testers have confirmed it's now working as intended. :)

I noticed when the P225 is zoomed in and you click reload it doesn't do anything until you zoom out. I'm sure someone has brought that up before but just in case :) tks KGB

Yup! Sounds like maybe that's the problem. I'll fiddle with the map.
Yep, that'll do it. So what's happening is you're getting to the trader, the game is going "Ok, the wasteland is now within the active chunk, so spawn the wasteland stuff".

And then, because that stuff is SUPER aggressive, it's running over immediately to ruin your day. :)

Auger and chainsaw should ALSO be fixed, I think.

And yeah, any non-vanilla gun does that. No idea why, not much I can really do about it either.

When you press F6, look ABOVE the list of entities. There's 3 boxes. I don't remember exactly what they say, but it should be something like From Biome Spawner, From Dynamic Spawner, From Static Spawner.

Make sure From Static Spawner is ticked and THEN spawn the guards. That should make them stay on save.

Or you could just take the loss. :p They're intended to NOT respawn to stop folks living in the trader 24/7.

 
Assuming you did NOT use the mod launcher:
For any mod, especially overhaul mods, it's best to install in a separate folder than your main steam game folder. BUT, if you *have* installed into your main steam game folder, the easiest method to go back to vanilla would be to:

rename the current "7 Days to Die" folder to something like "7 Days to Die - Darkness Falls", and then that'll keep DF installed in that game folder that you can run the .exe directly from to play the mod, and then go into steam, right click the game, choose Properties, choose Local Files, then click "Verify Integrity of Game Files" to re-acquire the vanilla files in a regular steam folder.

So I've gotten back to vanilla but now after doing the starter quests the locate trader quest starts I get the repeated red 'NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.' error, and strangely the trader coordinates are 0 0.

I tried using pastebin to post output log but it exceeded their 512kb size, this is the snippet I copied from my output log that repeats itself:

I'm not sure what else I can do to get back to vanilla 7dtd, anyone know where I'm going wrong?
