I keep getting stuck on the loading screen when I try to make my own world. I even tried going to a server via vanilla alpha 19.6 and there is a lot of red text popping up in the console.

It's not installed right. I suggest deleting your mods folder, data folder and 7daystodiedata folder. then verify files in steam. it will redownload the vanilla files.
Lastly make sure you have the correct version of DF. here's the link to the most current version.
