Custom Player Skins

I have been playing around with mods for 7 Days to Die and figured a common thing people would do is create custom skins for the players. However, I searched for hours and found nothing on custom skins, neither how do create them nor mods that contain them. Is it possible to do so? To make a custom skin for a character and possibly even custom animations?
