Crafting

Does anyone know how the crafting counter works? I have crafted many items but it only tells me I craft 5 items, And my wife has been crafting as well and it said she has crafted 0. how does the counting work? 

I have stayed in the crafting menu until the crafting was finished but the count didnt go up. 

Any ideas?
