PC Corrupt game. Lost everything

Me and my fiancé started playing 3 weeks ago and love the game. We convince 4 other friends to buy it and play. We have worked up to day 87 and now for no reason the game is corrupt we have done everything even contacted PlayStation and reset the whole system back to the beginning reinstalled the game and still the game is corrupt. I wish I’d never asked everyone to buy the game. The saddest part is I see posts online back to 2014 of this issue! Why is this not fixed??! Ridiculous. We lost everything. Why start over if the game is this bugged

What do you mean by the corrupted game? Has an area or your whole base reset (very rare this happens on a PS4), or is the problem with the game file? This game didn't come to consoles until June 2016 so the reports from 2014 must have been PC version.

If you could give some details of what exactly has gone wrong, with what you were doing before the problem occurred. If you could also include your game settings - name of file, settings used to generate your game, how many people were playing, etc, it will give Clare and the devs something to work with. You might also get some help from others in the community who have experienced similar issues and can advise you.

Corrupted World Save Data

This recently happened to me although i was on day 330 ish :( i put alot of effort into my house and I'm very dissatisfied after having this happen to me. Also,,, I managed to save the video on my ps4 so i have the entire instance. I have also deleted the game because so much time has been wasted and i fear it would be a regular occurrence. I dislike being a game tester and not getting paid for it, i believe the devs should have corrected these issues after thorough testing before release on console. After reading through various websites it seems there have been massive issues for quite some time on specifically console :(

The same problème for me my Friends loose all .. its like they restart à new personage

Ya this sucks big time BIG TIME☹ it's a massive game breaker, we wish we knew about it before we bought the game too. We had a work around going for about a week or so which intailed the host killing all other players and having them respawn before exiting game. It ment we wouldn't loose our stats and provided our gear was in a box we wouldn't loose that either. Unfortunately starting at 70/70 health and stamina sucks and makes players avoid gathering food as there's no point. Well this worked for a bit but when we logged on last night 2 players were reset on day 49 so now we have to restart again loosing our 5 bikes ☹as well as everything else we are now even reluctant to start anew. How long has this problem existed and have the devs been trying to fix it? Was the last update an attempt? Or is this game a complete con.🤔

Hi all,

When reporting bug reports, please create your own thread with details of your issue so I can assist you individually rather than jumping into posts that could be potentially unrelated. As it is not 100% clear what corruption the original post is talking about, please create your own threads and I will get back to you asap so this thread can be used to discuss JRose96's issue which could be different from those mentioned above.

Thank you,

Clare

Ugh

Well by “corrupt” I literally mean the game file says corrupt lol. That night when this happened we had made electric lights cia the work bench and we’re changing from torches to lights In the base. It kept kicking each one of us by popping a error and shutting down our game. Cycling thru each of us over and over till we gave up. Then the next morning my fiancé went to load our world and within a minute it kicked him. This continued for over a week he would either land in the world and immediately get kicked or be able to stay 1 minute tops. So we joined another friend in his server who was only on day 14 at the time. Well just a couple of days ago me and a friend started putting lights up in his base and guesss....what...happened.... yep we started getting the error and getting kicked....I was thinking NO WAY the lights cause this? We took out all the lights we had put up and stopped getting kicked. So my fiancé went to our corrupt game we had spent so much time

On and each minute it would let him stay in he would destroy lights. Until they were all gone. And magically it let him stay and let him invite us. We were back in our world! But alas this can not be a good ending, we have played in that world twice since then and though we aren’t immediantly kicked it does cycle thru kicking one of us (error screen shuts down game) every 10 mins or so. So yes we can get back in the world and stay more then a minute but we still cycle thru constant errors. My crew is now looking for a new game. I’m not sure how a game that’s been out so long can have so many problems. And what kills me is PC players of this game seem to have hardly any issues and much more updates to items and such. This game has so much potential and is awesome so this REALLY sucks.

Having a large concentration of lights in one area is known to cause lag and crashes - you can also get lag from too many torches and trees in a concentrated area. The cycle of kicking you out however is possibly down to something else. I would advise providing Claire with you game settings and your internet details (see her link above) - if you could include the rest of your crews internet as well, it would help Claire and the devs investigate the issue.

By the way, which console are you on?

Hi JRose96,

As Damselx1 mentioned above, having a large concentration of lights in an area can cause a build up in lag. Coupled with other things - premade control consoles in your chosen base, already in place lights, torches, candles, woodframe windows and growing trees - in the one area this can then lead to crashes and eventually what you witnessed, the console becoming too overloaded and crashing quickly. Around 30 lights is the cut off point from what I've seen in the past. 10 in the one room / area will start the lag build up.

After porting the toggle lights, the team then changed their spread so light fall would not overlap as much as this seemed to cause the lag build up. Unfortunately this can still occur in the game and understandably with less light emmited players might try to add more lights to a room or base. I'm glad you were able to get back into your game, and understand how something like this can be disheartening for a group. It may be worth checking numbers or items, and making sure your host has cleared the cache or the Playstation since removing the lights to make sure there isn't something there causing players to be kicked. If people are being kicked in a particular area then that area might need to be checked for too many items causing a build up.

The console version was released as a complete version of alpha 14.7 with splitscreen added in. The PC version is still in Alpha. The PC team are adding items and continuing to develop the Alpha version. Items are added, items are taken away and items that stay are tested, adjusted and tweaked for a good while. Once the PC team are happy something is considered ready for porting, it is then passed to the console team. The Console team aim to add as much as they possibly can from the PC version. Unfortunately in some cases, like the lights, or the speed of the minibike for example, things need to be dialed back to fit within the parameters of the console systems. Slyenthunder wrote a good article on the system differences which will probably explain better than I can - https://7daystodie.com/forums/showthread.php?62391-When-Will-the-Console-Version-Have-_______ - I think it's the 4th post down that downs a hardware table.

PC also do have their fair share of issues their team are working through. While not ideal one of the positives to come from this is if issues are spotted on both versions, then the teams can share a solution to the problem. Console has helped PC with issues in the past, and vice versa.

If you believed you've cleared a reasonable amount of items, and there seems to be no reason for the crashing to keep occurring, it may be worth sending your save onto us and we may be able to see what is causing it and help you prevent further issues or reduce the crashing.

I really do appreciate you taking the time to come back and explain what happened with your save and what is currently occurring despite your crew moving on from the save, as I said I understand how disheartening something like this can be for players, frustrating too.

Clare
