Cooking grill often has incorrect orientation (backwards-facing or sideways)

Tried to post this in Bug Reports section but it expects me to put a url to logfiles. I'm at work hence i can't do that,. plus i don't see how logfiles would help with reporting this. So i've posted this thread here to see if anyone knows of this is on the radar for being fixed.

I've experienced this in a few versions of the game, and also in 2.0, where you install a grill into a campfire and it's orientation is off, ie sometimes it's facing the wrong way (backways) or sometimes sideways.

Example of backwards is here ~

i have this quite often, whether i have a single campfire or multiples. Solution for me obviously is to remove pot and grill from campfire, pickup campfire, then spin the campfire around a few times, then and place it down again; then sometimes the grill is facing the correct way, sometimes not.

Not a big deal, it just looks aesthetically wrong if it's sideways-facing or backwards.

Not just the grill. This morning I did a T6 quest in the retirement home. When I dismantled a bed with the impact wrench, it suddenly changed orientation when only the bed frame was left. I'll have to see if I can see anything in the logs, but no critical message popped up at that time. I guess it happens when a block is placed in the world. This always happens when you loot a container and it is replaced by the empty container block or when you dismantle something with several stages like the old cars or some beds.

Yeah, it's based entirely on your campfire orientation. If you don't rotate campfires and always place them while in front of them, they'll always be oriented the same way. If you prefer to have them different... such as the beaker in front, always rotate a specific number of times (2x for beaker in front) while standing in front of where you are placing the campfire, and they'll always be oriented the same way. If you start dropping campfires down from different angles or randomly rotating them, you'll get odd orientations of the pot and grill and beaker. It isn't hard to keep things oriented the same way, as long as you understand how that works and pay attention when placing campfires.

Maybe it's a me thing after all :p. i could have sworn i'm always directly straight in front of them when i place them but maybe i'm not always stood correctly; i'll test a few times and maybe i just need to pay more attention to it when placing them, it's possible that i'm stood at funny angles sometimes.not 1000% convinced it's me but it could well be

Yeah, it is easy to get it rotated incorrectly if placing quickly. I sometimes even manage to hit the rotate button before placing things without meaning to. Since the campfire is the same from each rotation when nothing is on it, you can't really tell if that happened. A placement helper indicator like theFlu suggested would be useful.

Along with the doors, if not too much trouble? Hard to tell which way they're going to swing sometimes, ntm see the handle.
Are you placing them in thin walls? In normal block walks, the open away from the indented area where the door is placed. I think they all show a box outline on them.

Or maybe you mean the garage doors? Those could definitely use a helper.

I'm placing the doors just fine...while I strain to see the handle on them when putting one on the floor; making sure the door portion that swings is on the far side of a block so it will open inward and not outward; etc.

No problem placing the doors, but a swing indicator on them along with the cooking station would be nice.
