Windows Controller ghost inputs / loss of control (frame rate dependent?)

While playing on PC, I get intermittent moments where the controller inputs will cease, drift, or violently sort of have a seizure fit of inputs that aren’t mine, and each time the frame rate tanks. I’m not sure if it’s a chicken or egg thing, regarding which causes which. This includes my character spinning in circles (do to an input lock lasting over a second), staring at the floor, sudden over-committed harsh turn while driving, cursor moving all the way across the screen, inputs not registering, etc.

It could be in a moment as intense as a T5 fight, or as simple as struggling to move items as it occurs at base during inventory management.

Here’s the details:

It can begin as soon as I boot up. Low frame rates by themself naturally seem unrelated, and if on keyboard, no such additional inputs or “lag” occurs, and no “extra” spikes associated with the controller. I tested in creative a horde of 250 enemies. With a frame rate at about 30-40 on high-ultra settings with keyboard (shaky but stable), while on controller every 10-15 seconds randomly crashing as low as 15 fps and with the associated phantom inputs. Although more frequent during horde night and high tier POI’s, this can strike anywhere, and is debilitating enough to cause deaths and be “game-ruining”. It’s also more common in COOP (likely same reasoning, more strain).

Here’s the testing I’ve already done, and my specs:

AMD Ryzen 9 HX, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070, Windows 11. HDMI plugged into TV for most playing.

To preface, I’ve of course tried my controllers on other games, both in and out of Steam. Absolutely no issues found.

I’ve tested the following in 7D2D: Bluetooth / wired, different cables, different USB ports, different controllers entirely, steam input on / off, big-picture mode on / off, solo / coop, hardware acceleration on / off, just about every graphic setting on / off.

I’ve restarted the PC, reinstalled the drivers, did a windows update, reinstalled 7 days, validated files again, etc etc etc. I’m at my wits end here, I’d appreciate any fix, troubleshooting, or solution, or anything, please. Thank you for your time.

More details: I do not have this issue on PS5 at all. Though I’d much prefer playing on PC because of the PS5’s poor loading times and performance drops. Also ps5 crashes on 3 player and up late game very often, but that’s not my problem right now. If this is any indication at least that I have a comparison to normal frame drops versus whatever this nuisance happening to me right now is, and am not just being dramatic about slow-downs.
