PC Console question

This is just a loose poll : would you have repurchased this game, when you did, IF you had known it could be another 3-4 years or more until this game is actually complete?

How much time do you allow EA? ie...does EA mean any stage of development or does it imply the game is in it's final stretch...just being fine tuned and bug fixed?

Definitely would have but that is because I bought the game knowing that I would have fun with what was in it. So however long it takes for anything else is fine by me. Same logic I use for any game I buy.

Early Access doesn’t represent a stage in development like alpha, beta, release, gold. It’s just early access. In this case pay a reduced price to support a game in development and you get a playable build of the game. Risk is game might not get finished. In The Division 2’s case it was pay for the super deluxe edition and you get early access to the release build.

Yes, still would have bought it. For Early Access question: any stage of development and take as much time as they need, as long as I'm having fun.

Not a console player (PC only) but it also applies on the PC side.  7 Days to Die was my first game that I purchased as Early Access.  I made the purchased back when it was A16 (so I been playing now for 7 Alphas).  Looking back, yes I would still purchase this game even though it has not yet seen it's final release (4.0) - I have put in over 4k hours into this game over the last 7 Alphas.

Early access does not mean that the game mechanics has been completed and just going through balance changes / bug fixes.  Early access is just that there is a playable version of the game in its current iteration.  Any time you purchase an EA game, you need to be open minded that what you get at the beginning might not be the final product when it is released in its final form.

Every company is different when it comes to EA.  Some companies will have a game most of the way developed and the version you are seeing is right before it goes into Beta testing while others offer you the ability to play the game from the first playable version all the way to the final version.

There are some EA titles I only touch once or twice and haven't gone back (some of those I am just waiting for them to be released in their final form) so you are taking a risk when you purchase an EA title, but they make it clear when you make the purchase in the first place.

Absolutely 100% yes. My friends and I had been enjoying the legacy version for the last couple years, but we had become very tired of the game crashes and chunk resets that occurred. I had been monitoring this page and other sources to see when console would finally get something, and I was so excited when I saw that it was coming. My friends and I are loving every minute of it, and we only continue to be excited at what the roadmap will bring, whenever the new features are released. At least we have not yet encountered the game crashes and chunk resets prevalent in the old version.

Yes. Have a great time playing this game. Trust the Devs will fix the issues the game has and add the new content, they're planning. Been patient enough waiting for the re launch. Can wait for all fixes and additions!! Till the next Blood Moon!

Yes provided updates keep coming and they fix things like lost drones that had loot in it. Last game nothing was worse than your base getting chunk whiped. For me and this one i have lost two drones that never returned...

Im not on console but I can confidently say I would have wishlisted it and waited for a sale. I don’t typically spend more than $25 for any games preferring to wait until they drop in price.

I’ve played several EA games and all of them have been in different spots. Some were almost done and just needed a bit of touch up while others were very bare bones and obviously early in development. Almost all of them released in a state that was less than expected by some very vocal forum users. But they were all playable and many are still getting updates from time to time.

If the game is playable and fun I don’t care how long it takes as long as updates continue. To me EA means it isn’t finished and still in development. Case by case I read and follow to figure out what stage of development the game is in.

I’ve been pleased with almost every early access title I’ve tried. There was one that never finished and the devs admitted that they were ending development before all promised features were in. That was disappointing but the game as it was had delivered lots of entertainment. I even bought a later title from them— but not until after it left early access successfully and during a sale.

I definitely would have, I've enjoyed the journey honestly. I've liked hearing about a new update and rounding up a group of players to explore what's new in 7 days. It may not be complete and there's bugs along the way but its definitely worth the money.

It's hard to go back to my state of mind at the time, but I'd like to think the answer would be "yes."

I don't remember what version it was when I bought it, but it was far less functional. I didn't return the game, which tells me I saw something at the time. (I return about 40% of the games I try on Steam.) I really got into it with A19, but I got the game a few years before that.

If I knew then what I know now, I'd definitely have repurchased. I've had a lot of fun with it.

I don't really have any time expectations with Early Access titles. If I bought it, I felt like playing it in the state it was in at the time.

I don't think Early Access automatically implies a particular stage of development. I think that depends on the developer, their development methodology, and their circumstances. For some developers it might mean "the final stretch."
