I was the same way in the Elder Scrolls games with potions. I'd quite often have a boatload of potions of every sort in my inventory for emergencies, but even when an emergency did pop up I'd still not really use them... just in case an even worse emergency presented itself. I guess I kept them more as a mental security blanket than anything.
I'm not going to go on a but this, that, or the other thing about your reasons, because your playstyle and preferences are yours. I will however say thanks for the explanation.
BTW as others have already said. I'm also glad to hear your last horde night turned out much better for you.
