Comprehensive Gameplay & World Enhancement Suggestions for 7 Days to Die Part [2]

Refugee
With today’s visual and animation upgrades, 7 Days to Die is better equipped than ever to bring these zombie types to life. Classic designs could be faithfully reimagined, while new variants like the Blood Zombies can deepen tension, improve biome identity, and add reactive danger based on player choices.

🐄 Expanded Wildlife & Light Farming Support
Introduce player-craftable livestock stations, functioning similarly to dew collectors but requiring input:

  • Cow Stable – Craftable station where cows can be fed (requires cow feed) and produce milk over time
  • Chicken Coop – Station where chickens can be fed seeds or special chicken feed to generate eggs and feathers

Also add:

  • Silkworm Nests – Producing silk over time, useful for lightweight or cosmetic gear with [Silk Cloth]
  • Flax Plants – A new crop used to gather [Linen Cloth]
  • Cotton – Keep as a [Cotton Cloth] source, but also make it usable in crafting cotton-based clothing

These additions support cosmetic gear sets and transmog systems, especially now with the introduction of the new light armor tier and perks in version 2.0. Light farming mechanics like these can enrich the game without breaking survival balance.

🧠 AI & Behavior Expansion

Vulture AI Improvements

Vultures could become a far greater threat with enhanced pathfinding and targeting logic, similar to the Sand Zombie’s projectile attack system. This would allow them to:

  • Track wounded players more intelligently
  • Execute precise dive attacks
  • Operate in swarms that behave more like coordinated predators than random annoyances

Restoring and Modernizing the Smell System ("Scent of Blood" Mechanic)
One of the most atmospheric features from earlier versions of 7 Days to Die was the smell system, where carrying raw meat could attract zombies. This system was both immersive and gameplay-relevant — and it’s time for its return in a more refined, modern form.

This revamped mechanic would be built around a new Scent of Blood buff and integrated into the game’s core AI system as an optional toggleable survival layer.

Scent of Blood Buff Triggers:

  • Bleeding wounds (active injuries)
  • Carrying raw meat
  • Being infected by blood-based status effects (from Plagued Blood Hunters, for example)

How it works:

  • When any of the above triggers are active, the player receives a Scent of Blood buff (visible in the UI or silently tracked)
  • While active, zombies with scent-based AI — like Blood Hunters, Plagued Blood Hunters, or Blood Queens — will become aware of your presence even without line-of-sight
  • Prolonged exposure (especially untreated wounds) increases the chance of triggering a Blood Surge Event, which could escalate into a small horde or even a scent-based mini blood moon
  • Once wounds are patched or raw meat is removed from the inventory, the buff fades and these special AI triggers are deactivated

Design Benefits:

  • Encourages more thoughtful healing and meat storage
  • Introduces a new layer of stealth and survival pressure
  • Expands how different zombie types interact with the player world
  • Keeps the mechanic optional for players who prefer a more classic or casual experience

This restored and expanded smell system would not only enhance the realism and tension of the survival experience — it would directly power the behavior of the new blood-afflicted zombie family while opening doors for future AI evolution.

🧬 Biome Progression & Difficulty Scaling

  • Replace the badge system with immersive upgrades like:
    • Mutated nanotech injections
    • Biome-specific survival augments (resistances, buffs, etc.)
  • Add Biome Bosses — optional endgame milestone threats activated via world generation settings. Let these bosses feel like territory guardians that test player readiness without being hard-gated

📢 Subtle Yet Impactful Features

  • Bring back the horde-night scream — that iconic build-up added dread and excitement
  • Clown Zombies — would pair perfectly with the new Carnival POI
  • Expanded toggleable systems — allow for more player choice while respecting survival game balance

🔚 Final Thoughts
These suggestions come from a place of deep appreciation for how far 7 Days to Die has come. With its blend of survival, horror, and sandbox creativity, the game is already a standout in its genre — and these additions could push it even further.

By expanding RWG tools, biome variety, AI depth, and creative lifestyle gameplay, 7 Days to Die can continue to evolve as a rich and enduring experience.

Thank you again for your incredible work and ongoing passion. I’ll be there — base reinforced, blood moon rising.

Sincerely,
A long-time survivor and fan
