Clothing system - future updates?

I would like to know if the clothing system will be changed, and if so, how? At the moment, the clothing is not visible on the player (I would like to see the same socks visible on the player, even when the player does not have any shoes), and I would prefer clothing such as ponchos/scarves/coats, which can theoretically be made visually compatible with any armor set. Additionally, the clothing does not provide any additional benefits other than protection from cold or heat. In fact, the developers could add more variety, such as: diving gear - full set protects against getting wet. Firefighter gear - full set prevents fires. Eliminator gear - full set reduces damage from poison/radiation, etc.

Maaan, i really want to see Hazmat suit/armour against radiations someday :D
Agree also about firefighter!
+ SWAT/Riot and millitary armours for player use!

I just hope they don't turn it into what those modern pay to play DLC FPS games are with flashy looking stuff. Gold plated guns, masks, neon coloured clothing etc... Keep the grit and survival in 7 days to die. The old clothing system was fine and just needed some tweaks at best.

Just out of spite.

I miss swapping i know madmole didnt like it but it just made sensr
That's the neat part: you didn't have to. BDU top + pants, college jacket and maybe a single insulation mod in armor and I never had temp issues no matter where I went

I would've been fine with the old system but having the newer stuff as skins, but we have what we have (which the sets and some of their bonuses could use a rebalance to say the least but that's another topic entirely).

Speaking of immersion breaking.... Turn around and see a set of pink power armor with donut sprinkles on top. Augh! My eyes! Pretty sure no prewar soldier would have been caught dead in such a thing, much less that the military would be donating power armor to cola manufacturers for their promotional stunts.

I definitely see a distinct Atomic Shopness overtaking 7 Days' multiplayer.

I miss the old system of clothing also, but it was so long ago that I don't remember was there armor also, or we relied on high health from wellness.

You had 10 slots compared to 8 slots now (5 armor/5 clothing vs 4/4, the legs are the ones that got removed).

Me too, but the problem is that this sort of clothing system has huge scaling problems. It has a multiplicative effect on what has to be created with each new model, what has to be updated and tested with each model change, and what has to be tested with each animation change.

If it's your job to add a poncho to the game, one that looks good, then you don't need to add one poncho. You need a poncho for each of the base game armor sets (of which there are 17 if you include "not wearing any"), and each of the premium atrocities (7 more). And double that to account for male and female versions. And multiply that by the number of hats (25) if the poncho has a hood and the hood doesn't just straight up delete the hat.

Have fun creating 1,200 ponchos. I hope you can meet your deadline.

Unless what you are after is the janky, laggy clipfest of "let the physics engine sort it out".

Guess they better get going.

I miss the leather jacket, it was the main thing keeping me warm in the snow. Even with patchwork clothing on, i'm still cold at 42° in my base/house.

Think of it this way. The more people buy game DLC, the more money TFP makes to continue to support the game and not go bankrupt like Telltale did, which lead to no more game updates and free content.
I find it odd that younger people, especially, think of scheduled updates that are just fulfillment of Kickstarter goals and expected of a work in progress (alpha, beta) that isn't finished are "free content" or "DLC" -- as though 7 Days is a live service game with expansions and "content updates" and "cosmetics" expected for years to come. I find it even more weird that a prominent YouTuber focussing on this game actually suggested a monthly subscription, battle royales and battle passes, MMO-style events and the like to keep or renew interest in it. I tend to think that's because predatory industry practices are all they've ever known -- that they simply don't know any better because they haven't experienced any better: complete games with only significant espansions of map and story, etc. considered DLC.

The $2.50 horse armor for Oblivion partially opened the door for the more egregious industry practices we're seeing today. TFP seems intent on avoiding the worst of the worst. Rick mentioned something about it anyway. Ergo, I'm not sure why players are actually encouraging them to adopt predatory industry practices.

From what I gather, most (here anyway), just want to see them put paid to this game and produce another game, which I gathered is what they're actually doing with the roadmap that's in place. I'd personally hate to see that change, but I suppose we shall see.
