Character just eyes and backpack

I was making a new character and for the name I tried putting in just zalgo text for reasons, so I put " " into a zalgo generator and pasted that into the textbox for the name. when the character generated an error appeared and there was just a pair of eyes and a backpack floating in midair. I loaded into a new game and messed around for a while and then deleted the character when I saw that ALL of the profiles were just eyes. when I make a new profile it still is messed up and I cant figure out how to fix it. I've already tried reinstalling the game but it didn't work. Does anyone have any ideas?

Step 1. Open the launcher, click on the Tools tab, and hit the button for "Clean game data". Tick the box for "Player Profiles", and then click Clean.

Step 2. Verify your client files at least twice. For some stupid reason Steam doesn't always actually find all the issues on the first pass.
