I think we could use what I'm calling the Chainsaw Puppy Pal. As a quest reward or found roaming buildings during quests, a Puppy Pal is an extension of your player or allied team. They eat raw meat and bones normally, but are capable of learning varoius commands and gaining buffs if fed specialized treats that the Traders provide.
Capable of being outfitted with clothing they can also wield a chainsaw that they carry in their mouth.
While it can't kill a zombie it can force walking zombies to become crawlers which makes killing or escaping easier.
