ok so I bought the game threw steam and it will come up in the little window and I have the sound but no picture the window I just black... I have more than the recommended requirements for the game. it works just fine on my wife's laptop and I bought hers and my pc at same time.. just don't understand why it will not give me a picture

Open your STEAM library, find 7 Days to Die on the left side list, double click it. You should get a dialog that says
Play 7 Days to Die
Show game launcher
Click the circle next to show launcher and try some of the options there.

System specs would definitely help us figure this out for you. Making sure you have all the drivers installed and not the default microsoft drivers for graphics which doesn't actually work with anything. You could also "Verify integrity of game files" by right clicking on game within Steam and going to Properties / Local Files.
