Can't place block

The clipping boundaries for some blocks extend past the actual block making it impossible to place snap another block net to it.  Example: placing a horizontal support beam onto a vertical beam.  I'm sure there's an easy answer, just can't seem to find it.  Any help appreciated.

If you use "I-Beam Centered" instead of "I-Beam", it works as expected. (the beams connect).
