Can't enable crossplay

I am having the same problem on a freshly built windows 11 computer. It only happens when somebody invites me from steam. I can connect to a game through the server finder however if someone invites me to same game from steam it fails in the same place as sandbag describes. Here are my logs. https://pastebin.com/PPhFECVz . However the logs stop like sandbags so there are no follow on details.

@meganoththat was all of my logs. That’s where it stopped. I sat there waiting for approximately 10 minutes and nothing else came up.

@Kumps88are you able to join any public servers. I tried and it worked fine but I have yet to try and join my friends after trying public.

Hey there! I'm looking for some insight into an issue regarding multiplayer!

So, my friend is having a very interesting multiplayer issue that I've tried to troubleshoot for a bit now and it's not resolving. He's unable to connect to a server nor have anyone connect to a server of his own. He receives a message stating that it is resolving multiplayer privileges when joining a server, but it never goes through and gets stuck in a loading loop.

We've validated the integrity of the files on Steam previously; it did say that a file was corrupted and it was recovered. However, the problem still came up anyway, even after making sure the files were completely verified and coming back with no errors.

We attempted turning off Windows Defender Firewall and we also wiped the data files; none of which worked. I also had him do a clean reinstall, but that also didn't do anything. We're all on the same version of 7DTD and everything, too. We've tried loading with and without EAC, but that doesn't seem to be the issue either.

I tried looking up the issue, but I couldn't find anything on it nor anyone else who has the same problem. We've been able to successfully play together before, but now it's just not working. Our friends can join a server just fine without any problems, but his just can't do multiplayer at all anymore.

I'm at a loss, honestly. Could it potentially be a network issue or maybe an issue with Steam in general? Or maybe it's crossplay being enabled? I've also noticed that not having up-to-date Windows versions and drivers can make things a little funky, but I'm not entirely sure.

Thank you in advance!! :)

Have you kept the game running while you copied the log? The shortened log could be the result of cached log output (i.e. the operating system usually waits for a full block of text or the closing of the file before writing a block). So you need to kill the game (through steam preferably which should kill the game softly) and then check the file.

Yes, seems to be the same problem, very similar logfiles. Both of you have problems retrieving data from the EOS server. @sandbag1440 It seems you can circumvent the problem by connecting with server finder.

Meanwhile one of you could make a bug report that inviting doesn't seem to work

@meganothwould it be possible to join my friends game from the server finder? I’m still new to this game so unsure of how it work

Your friend has to make the game public and set a password. The following post https://community.7daystodie.com/topic/41359-solved-myself-no-idea-where-to-throw-this-cant-get-my-hosted-server-to-show-up-on-parents-xbox/#findComment-579746  may be a good description of the process. I myself never needed to do any of this stuff as my group always plays without eac. That seems to make a lot of problems go away, but it means I have no experience in that area.

I'm having the opposite issue I'm on Xbox and I'm trying to connect with a PC friend keeps giving me a eac error saying authorization timed out

after exhausting all troubleshooting options i have discovered an issue where the launch of my game client doesnt install necessary files to C:\Users\Elite\AppData\Roaming\7DaysToDie\titlestorage\8a44365d5ccb43328b4df2f8ca199e43

Yea and the boxes are checked to allow the game to do its thing I already checked that. I've been doing more research on the matter and seem to be having the same problem alot of other people are having at the moment. There is a post on Facebook under the name of Brandon Scott labeled under 7d2d pc. I'm having the same issue as him to the tee. One thing I fail to mention that he did is the news and game news page shows nothing when I load the game. So I'm assuming it's the same problem with easy cheat.

Hey wanted to let everyone know that is having this issue. I got mine to work by simply..... right clicking the time in the bottom right hand corner and going into adjust date/time and set it to automatic. Hope this helps.

Hello, we submitted a ticket about a week ago. We did not try to play until today it came up. We still had the issue of not being able to turn on cross-play so we did some searching. We remembered that our clock for our PC was ahead of the actual time by 10 minutes. By automatically updating the Microsoft time and syncing it, it immediately synced and when we opened the game immediately after, Cross play was automatically enabled. I do not know for sure if this is a fix everything solution but its easy to try.

I'll have my friend give this a shot and see if that helps. Thank you!

This worked finally a solution that works thank you. Whoever seeing this do this it worked for me.

In seemingly rare cases, I've seen some clock issues mentioned also grey out Continue Game, but this SHOULD help with Crossplay being disabled as some here have said, but here's some troubleshooting for those that need additional help:

Xbox:

Settings -> System -> Time: If the Set Time Automatically isn't enabled, enable it. If it is enabled, disable it then set the time manually; if the time seems correct, try putting it a minute ahead or behind and enable the automatic setting again and let it correct it.

PS5:

Settings -> System -> Date and Time: If the Set Time Automatically isn't enabled, enable it. If it is enabled, disable it then set the time manually (Set Manually option); if the time seems correct, try putting it a minute ahead or behind and enable the automatic setting again and let it correct it. Restart the console and it can't hurt to run the Network Connectivity check.

PC:

Settings -> Time & Language -> Date & Time (you can search for Date & Time, or right click the clock)
If Set Time Automatically is disabled, enable it. If it's enabled, try the Sync now button a little bit down, and restart.

In any case, it's also a good idea to power off your modem/routers/other network devices for about 5 - 10 minutes and restart them. Also, if this doesn't work, try setting your time manually (on all platforms).
